    Ultimate Value Diary App

I've been using this app for a while now, I too used to be a paying online member. The app is great, yes it works out your points and it can be changed to maintenance points once you reach your target. It tracks your weight well and the barcode scanner is really handy too! Generally speaking...

    Back to my first love

Good luck on WW Starlight - I've done SW in the past (and got to target) but the majority of the weight went back on. WW has been so much easier in my opinion and the losses have been better, probably due to the fact my portions on SW were WAY out. Propoints was a bit fiddly at first but if I...

    How much weight...

It's hard to say as it varies from person to person, but WW say that a healthy weekly loss is 0.5lb to 2lbs. Those with more weight to lose do tend to have bigger losses than those who don't have as much to lose. For me, in 12 weeks I lost 1 stone 6lbs.

Planning to start for the first time on weight watchers??

I'm an ex SW-er, got to target but gradually put most of the weight back on and so decided to try WW online which is £11 a month but there's plenty of offers available if you have a google. In 14 weeks I've lost 2 stone 1lb which is brilliant considering it took about a year to lose 3 stone on...

    New to WW

Another ex SW-er here - lost 3 stone a couple of years ago and nearly all of it has gone back on. Many reasons (or excuses perhaps) but one was portion control. I wanted to try something different and was impressed how well my friend had done on WW. 13 weeks on and I've lost 26lbs and only 9lbs...

  9. S

    Hello everyone

Hi there! I'm a WW newbie and have already lost 9.5lbs in two weeks. Having done SW in the past, propoints was totally new to me but I'm starting to get my head around them now and know the points for 'essentials' eg bread, milk, cereal, cheese etc. I'm on 27 PPs too and as long as you plan well...

new to WW, have a question

Thanks for your replies, I will try to use some weeklies over the weekend. I'm filling up on so much 0PP/low PP food eg salad and fruit I'm struggling to use all my daily ones at the moment!
  11. S

What is low in points but fills u up?

For my lunch today I had a huge salad, 1 boiled egg sliced up and 100g of Morrisons Eat Smart onion and chive cottage cheese followed by an apple. As a newbie to WW, I found this surprisingly filling and it was only 4pps.

new to WW, have a question

Hi there, I'm not new to Minimins but I am to WW. Having lost 3 stone on SW almost 2 years ago, I have put a bit (not all!) back on over time and to be honest I have got bored of SW and unmotivated in recent months and needed a change. My friend has been doing WW online and is doing brilliantly...

    Does anyone have days....

If I'm having a day like this, I try to do something that takes my mind off food completely. Recently I've been exercising regularly with Zumba 2 on the Wii, and it's really toned me up (I didn't really do much exercise to hit target) plus after a sweaty 45-60 mins workout all I want to do is...

    Thinking of going it alone

Try doing it at home, and see how you manage without a class. I got to target without ever attending one and using the forum as support and bought my own scales to weigh at home. Thanks everyone for your replies. I know ultimately it is my decision when it comes to inviting family from my side and people have to accept that. Food processors

I have the Kenwood you put the link up for - it's really small but as you can only have the chopper container thingy or the blender jug attached to the base one has to go in the cupboard, neither takes up much room but thought I might mention it in case this is an issue. It's a great processor...

    Grraaaaaaaa - Brain explooooooooding.

It's awful when you're supplying in a not-so-nice school - I spent the other day in a horrible school which ended with a boy (9 years old!) drop kicking off one of the boys' toilet doors, actually off the hinges. Then the teacher was in a right mood about it (naturally) but was trying to make...

    sceptical about sw

SW works, as long as you stick to the plan carefully and eat until you're satisfied, not bursting! Regarding syns I would try to have 10-15 a day then if your weight loss reaches a plateau you can reduce them. I'm not saying other diets/plans don't work, but SW is the only plan I've been able...

    Options v Highlights

What happens when you reach target.......

Unless you syn the extra bread/milk/flour etc, you'll be going over your calorie intake by eating more syns and if this carries on weekly you will put weight back on. According to SW, to maintain you have an extra HEb every day - if you lose again, add another every day the following week...

What's you average weight loss on SW?

Mine averaged about 1lb a week. When I first started SW and wanted to lose 3 stone it felt like target was such a long way away if I would be losing 1lb a week. It's normal for your losses to slow down to around 1-2 lbs a week, SW say this is the amount you should expect to lose per week. Health experts also recommend this is an ideal weekly loss amount so your body can adjust to weight loss, if you lose too quickly issues like saggy skin can become...

help and advise for my son

I've never heard of it being tightened yourself - I always had mine done at the dentist. That is the painful part of having a brace I'm afraid but I do recall as time went on the pain wasn't as intense and didn't last as long because I was getting used to the increased pressure. I didn't have...

Wow - Slimming World Just emailed me!

As someone who mainly does Green, I too get a little disappointed in the 'push' of Extra Easy. Like Jaylou has mentioned, there has often been lots of recipes where I've reckoned the meat could be replaced with quorn or even more veg to make it a Green day friendly meal.

Extra Easy Will EE work for me?

SW works if you follow the plans correctly. If after a few weeks EE isn't working (not all of the plans suit everyone) try Red and/or Green days. It's all about trial and error, finding what works best for you in terms of both weightloss and your lifestyle. Good luck!

What made you decide to do it ?

I had been overweight for a number of years, but tried to put it to the back of mind, believing that I would always be overweight and nothing would change it. Sorry to hear you're a little down in the dumps. Firstly, don't worry about your slip-up, we've all been there at some point. Don't let it spoil the rest of the week - write that day off and get back on plan. The quicker you get back on plan the less damage you'll have done! I'm not a...
  121. S

    Will it ever work?

  122. S

    Will it ever work?

How much you'll lose per week really depends on how much weight you have to lose in the first place. Those with a lot to lose will experience bigger losses compared to those with not as much. For everyone though it does and will slow down and you should expect around 1-2lbs a week. This is a...

    Daily Syn Allowance on EE

Use your syns! You should, in my opinion, start at 10-15 a day and then you have something to reduce if your losses stall. Throughout my whole SW journey I use an average of 10-15 syns a day. So far I have not had the need to cut back on them, and I'm only a few pounds away from target.

  203. S

    Slow starts?

The losses you've reported when on SW are very good! I find it also helps to get SW to stick - for me now...

    Star week

For me it depends where WI lies in relation to * week. If my * week is just coming about, it's very likely I'll gain or STS. If it's my WI and it's at the end of my * week, there's a better chance of the scales showing a loss.

    Right that is it :(

I know how you feel - been there! It's so tempting to hop on inbetween WI days, I admit I do often, but I always take what it says with a pinch of salt, even if it's a loss. Remember your weight can fluctuate as much as 5lbs throughout the course of the day.

    Fish and clueless

Salmon burgers are yummy too - I've made them with fresh salmon but I saw in the new SW mag they use tinned salmon.

    Whats for tea tonight?

A boring tea of a jacket potato and half a tin of beans... ...followed by a not-so-boring, homemade mini baked chocolate cheesecake :D  (SW friendly of course!)
  214. S

    Help?!!?!

Quite often people who have recently come off a different diet have a STS or gain for the first couple of weeks or so in starting SW, so this explains your gain. Don't fret - stick with it, your body is simply getting used to the plan.

What cereal bars count as health extra b?

It's all based on the fibre content so not all cereal bars are included. I think the weetabix oaty bars are classed as a HEb (one bar) as well as the Kellogg's fibre plus ones. I tend to have Alpen Lights because you can have two - I usually split them and have one on a night with a cup of...

Need some advice on SW plans..

What plan are you deciding on?
  219. S

I need to know EXACTLY why you must have your syns please..

SW isn't meant to be a 'diet' and something you come off. It's a healthy eating plan for life.

    a q about syns

Not trying to be funny, but this isn't what SW class as flexi-syns. Flexi-syns are when you know it's going to be difficult to keep within your daily syns, eg a meal, wedding, etc. Beforehand you keep to SW as normal, including having your usual syns. For the particular day/event in question...

How do i do slimming world?

Not to put you off Celebrity Slim but a friend of mine did it, he found it very hard to stick to and once he lost the weight he put it all back on as he now knows it wasn't really a plan/diet he could stick to long term.
  227. S

    Should I really be:

Mullerlights are around 100 calories - I know on SW you don't calorie count but if you're having these as snacks you could be making better choices calorie wise with fruit or salad. I personally would have 2 a day max, but as part of a meal eg a dessert.

How do i do slimming world?

Hi, you're best off joining a group just to get the books and the beginner's talk about the plans, or looking for a pack off ebay but be prepared to pay more on there!

what have you made and can recommend from this months mag?

Has anyone tried the broccoli and penne bake? I love the look of this!

    Using a HEB for Soup

If you're fed up with salad for lunch, why not make up some chicken, veg, passata with a HEb of wholemeal pasta? Or make up a chilli using a HEb of beans? You can also have a lot of different cheeses as a HEb too - it doesn't just have to be bread.

    NSVs - Non Scale Victories

a major NSV for me! I feel like crying! At my parents' house today and helping to clear out wardrobes. I came across my dress I wore for my leaver's do at secondary school, and I was curious to see how it would look like now on me. When I wore it for the party it fitted well all over, as a...

    NSVs - Non Scale Victories

Came across a ring I got for my 18th birthday, which had to be re-sized to be made bigger by the jewellers when it was bought. Tried it on the same hand and finger I used to wear it on - it slipped right off! It's even too big to wear on my thumb, and I remember it used to fit quite nicely there...

NHS Gastic Band Ops in the news today

It's obvious that she lost the weight with SW, then thought 'yey, I'm slim now so I can finish with SW and go back to normal'. In her case, 'normal' was either eating too much and/or eating crap, so no wonder the weight crept back on!
  236. S

NHS Gastic Band Ops in the news today

I didn't see the item, but the idea of being on an eating plan like SW or WW is that they are meant to be a permanent lifestyle change - it's not a case of going back to your old eating habits once you've reached target. The point of such 'diets' is that they change your old eating habits for...

    Which plan? Confused.com!!!

Hi there, There isn't a plan that's better than the others. All the plans work if you follow them 100%, but you might find some plans work better than others - regarding your lifestyle, eating preferences and losses. This totally depends on the individual, you need to find what plan(s) work...

Any exciting plans for the weekend?

I'm having a few friends round for some drinks and a catch up before we go into town. I'm determined to keep within my syns alcohol wise, and as usual will have some syn free food prepared at home to steer me away from a takeaway at the end of the night!

    Countdown to Christmas Challenge

I need to lose 10lbs to finally reach my target - it would be lovely to be 10 stone (or perhaps a bit less) for Christmas! Devon_Dumpling, 27lbs to lose, 7.5lbs lost MadameLaMinx, started at 39lb to lose, have now 17lbs to lose Orion83, 42lbs to lose Hastalavegan, 22lb down, another 8lb to...

    Frequent weeing

I'm the same at the moment - after having a few weeks off plan I'm constantly on the loo. On Monday I weighed 150lbs, which meant I had a 7lbs gain - it sounded awful but I know a lot of that is water weight. In general though I wee a lot more than before SW - I put it down to eating more...

RANT! Recipies in comfort Food free booklet

SW do promote EE more so than the other plans now. I only have a couple of EE days a week, purely because I'm not really a meat eater so Green makes more sense. In the magazines however, towards the back they have an index of all the recipes featured, with the syn values on all plans.
