As advertised in this month's Sw magazine, KARA Dairy Free Milk original with calcium has been added to the Healthy Extra A list. A generous 400ml allowance for a HEX A.
I tried this last year, really liked it as the soya milk i had been using was no good for coffee (it curdles) and this...
Found another recipe on Cook Yourself Thin - perfect if you are stuck for dessert ideas or just a nice treat!
Halve strawberries and cut banana into rounds.
Take a wooden skewer and thread alternative fruits onto skewer adding 2-3 marshmallows per skewer (1 syn each)
Melt some dark chocolate...
Don't beat yourself up over it, like the others said, just draw a line and keep going. If you carry on doing the plan and maybe include a little exercise, it may not be bad news on WI day, it's happend to me numerous times, the trick is to keep going. Hope you enjoyed your weekend
I can personally recommend the Chicken Kebabs recipe - perfect for BBQ's or cooking on the grill pan - tastes better than the take away. There is also another recipe on "gunnai's" episode of aubergine, garlic and 0%bgreek yog dip - totally syn free - most of the receipes can be adapted to SW -...
Just wanted to share with you, there are some FABULOUS recipes, most can easily be adapted for SW, and most are very low if not free!
There are about 9 episodes, all have at least 5 recipes, I have been watching one a day (about 25 mins each).
My favs are spaghetti with meatballs, aubergine and...
Just wanted to add, that I have tried Pasta n Sauce, and think that Symington's mug shots are MUCH better - again, some are free and some are not, but much easier to prepare and very filling.
Gotta recommend this!!! - PASTA SAUCE - but SYN FREE??
Have to share with you this pasta sauce I purchased today. Well, it's actually passata with basil, much cheaper than many of the commerical pasta sauces and easier than making your own when time is short (i used to make mine from peeled...
Thanks guys, that makes it a bit clearer.
So, I dont have to have a portion of red and green at every meal as I understand it? As long as 1/3 of my plate is superfree it should be OK.
As I explained, I have been doing SW online for 8 months and know the red and green days inside out, BUT, I...
yes, apols - its ff cottage cheese that is free. Phily, phily light and extra light can be taken from your HEX A or B (if green day) or syned. Sorry, if i have confused matters!
Someone at work suggest I try oak cakes as a snack. I have brought some today from ASDA. The ones I got are 2-2.5 syns each. I have been told they are really filling, I suppose you could add a superfree topping (cottage cheese or Phily light) I was also told they are nice with Jam, if you have...
Hello Everyone!
I have been on SW (red and original days) since Jan and have lost 3 stone so far. I am not alltogether clear on the EE concept but have seen many people here have had good losses and wanted to try it for a few days. I am a SW online member but I find it doesn't really explain it...
I brought a packet of wheat free spaghetti as one of my friends was coming for dinner and can't have wheat, I have since changed the menu and dont want to throw them away. Does anyone know if I can have them on a green day?
It's Sainsbury's own brand "freefrom" Spaghetti (gluten free, wheat...
I made my own version a few nights ago. I used half fat philly as one of my HEX and syned an extra portion as I like it creamy. I added Quorn bacon bits, a tablespoon of parmesan (1.5 syns) and lots of black pepper. It was amazing. Didn't taste like it was low fat at all. Next time I will try...
I have been on red and green days since Jan and lost 3 stone. I am hoping to try out EE, but the SW website doesn't explain it well (i dont go to meetings, i do it online). I am looking for a thread on here that explains EE so I can try it. My losses were best on red days, but due to financial...
I brought a snack sized pot of this for working, thinking it would be lower on green days, but it's not, red and green day syn value are the same....surely on green it should be less because it contains rice.....puzzled!!!!!
150g pot (low fat version) 7 syns on all three plans...
Also...
Tried Tomato and Herb pot noodle in a mug after seeing it in the SW mag - was pleasantly surprised!!! They are good value (I think 44p), and a satisfying snack, free on green.
Anyone tried any of the other flavours?
I know Doner is high in syns, but Shish kebab should be syn free on original days, just dont have the pitta (or syn it) and use lemon juice on the meat. that's what I do when I fancy a kebab. I get chicken or lamb shish (or both).
Lidl's Linessa cottage cheese is free on all plans. If you like crisps, they do a massive multipack bag of different types of crisps/snacks which are quite low. I always stock up on my spaghetti from Lidl and their fruit and veg is normally well priced!
I also like their parma ham packs, much...
Glad to see that the big supermarkets are offering a value cottage cheese that is syn free. I often dont buy it because other ranges are quite expensive....does anyone have any feedback on taste for the value ranges? Personally, I thought the TESCO version tasted quite artificial and bitter...
I buy small prawns, put them in a non stick pan with a clove (or two) of garlic. Don't chop the garlic leave it whole. Add a tablespoon of tomato puree and fry over a medium heat for about 10 mins stirring often. Remove the garlic cloves and then serve with a big salad or veggie mash. Delicious...
I do this sometimes. I normally have fruit (banana, apple, apricots) and a FF yog. You could have boiled/poached eggs and grilled bacon & toms as well, but it's strange without the bread!
I lost this post but found it again.
I have mailed SW online who could not confirm as it was not listed on their databse. I have put it through the syns calculator and MORRISONS VALUE cottage cheese 250grams (approx 57p per poti think) it's come out as free on all three plans!!!!!!
Tastes good...
Can't find the post I replied to on this and one lady on this site was waiting for me to get back to her with an answer.
Syn free cottage cheese - TESCO do a fat free, syn free version but the taste is a bit bitter.
Morrisons now also stock a Value Cottage cheese which tastes great! Only costs...
I checked this on the SW website after seeing it in my local Morrisons - I wanted to copy and paste it on here but now I can't find it!!!! I will email SW as I remember buying it because it was free. I will let you know..
I've never heard of them either - sounds yummy though. I guess if you really wanted you could contact the manufacturer and ask them - they might even send you a box or two for free!!!
I fancied some Nutella so I bought from morrisons a blister pack with 30 grams inside. I thought it was safer than buying a whole jar and keeping it at home.
Does anyone know the calories for Nutella? The packet doesn't give any information. SW website gives a syn value per tablespoon - but i...
Oaty bars are great. Chewy and a great snack if you fancy something sweet (only 3.5 syns on all plans and a HEX B). They are also a decent sized snack, some of the other cereal bars I have tried are tiny!
I think HEX are different to syns in as much as to keep the diet balanced you have to have them. I don't think they are optional like HEXA on Original and Green days. I sometimes find I don't use both of mine, so I have an Oaty bar or some olive oil on my salad to use it up without too much...
Most supermarkets do their own brand (Sainsburys, M&S for example). I dont go to class I do SW online so I can't ask my consultant. I will have to send the empty packet to SW for them to include it on their databases.
Does anyone know if there is a syn value or if BRESAOLA is classed as a free food on original days?
This is sliced cured meat (a bit like Parma Ham) but made from beef with hardly any visible fat. It is sliced very thinly. I was thinking of having this in a roll or Pitta with rocket. I can't...
Does anyone know if these are syn free? Seems to good to be true.
SW site says free (but gives this for 100gms) when the pot is actually 165 gms.
Can anyone confirm this flavour is free?
Does anyone know if you can have Philadelphia Light as a HEX? IF so how many grams?
I have purchased a pack of 4, 35gms portions, wondered if you could have them as HEXa
Thanks x
query
Thanks very much, where did you get the syn values from? I tried SW syns online and it wouldn't come up. Am i doing something wrong. First page I am selecting marks & spencer, second page "chunky steak". I am not getting any hits though :o(
I bought these from Lakeland and wasn't that impressed with their taste other than on jacket potatoes. Flora extra light is better. I also read somewhere you can mix the powder with a drop of hot water to make runny type butter!
Quorn mince, plain sausages, and chicken style pieces are free, as are bacon style pieces (found this out today). Some of their products are not free though - burgers, escalopes and some other products.
I regularly use my syns on the following:
Walkers French Fries - 4 syns (multipack bag)
Ketchup 1 syn per tbls
Salad cream 2 syns per tbls
Flora extra light 0.5 per teaspoon
2 finger kit kat 5.5 syns
magnum mini 8.5
Hartleys low sugar jelly pot 0.5 syn
I know you can have WEETABIX Oaty bars as a HEX B. All varieties (chocolate, strawberry and white chocolate) and they are a decent size. Some of the cereal bars I have tried as HEX are tiny!!! They are also only 3.5 syns if you choose to syn them which I think is good compared to a lot of the...
Sweet & Sour Chicken with Rice, chilled, 400g pack
I had this for dinner last night and was pleasantly surprised. Quite filling really (you could bulk it up with more veg).
Only 4 syns on Green and Extra Easy
If you just have the meat and salad it shouldn't be any syns - assuming you will be on an original day. If you have the pitta and coleslaw you would have to syn it I think. Also, it would be shish kebab, not doner. x
Just wanted to share with you this new product I read about in the SW magazine. FREE on red and cooks from Frozen. This is a Tesco product. It was a bit bland and I did add lemon, black pepper and some butter buds at the end of cooking.
£5.00 any 2 FOR £9.00 - Valid until...
Wow! I love white chocolate too!!! I read somewhere (not sure where) that white choco lovers will like the AERO white chocolate dessert mousse, apparently it's not that high in syns and tastes great.....
I like Porkinson sausages, they are the best - but they are around 4 syns per sausage. I do push the boat out occasionally and have one or two and just syn them. Even when you bake them, hardly any fat comes out, when I have cooked Walls ones the same way, they were virtually swimming in fat!
I...
I did the same last night whilst watching Cocktail. I had some goodies in them house for when I have some friends over next week and opened the massive bag of cheese doritos and started on them as well as about 4 two finger kit kats. Back on it today though. It happens to all of us. If I have...
I am not buying any new clothes until I get nearer target, I am going to try and get away with having what I have taken in (I have a good alterations lady that only charges a few pounds for work) and then I am going to get some killer underwear from Rigby and Peller (their fitting staff are...
If you are anywhere near London - go to rigby and peller - Knightsbridge. Not as expensive as you might think. They have very experienced sales consultants, you literally have to strip all your top clothing off and they go through various styles to suit you, give you the look you wish for. I...
I grow my own parsley. If kept indoors in the winter on a sunny windowsill you can grow it all year round. I like flat leaf parsley (as opposed to curly leaf).
I get a pot and sow a gtood handful of seeds and then cover then with a light sprinkling of soil. Water. I then place clingfilm over the...
I am thinking of purchasing one of these to cook lean meats and veg. Are they good, or just another kitchen gadget?
I particularly like chargrilled food - do they make the food taste chargrilled? Any feedback gratefully received, x
This is a new product being advertised, wondered if anyone had tried it. The syn value is not on the SW website and I haven't seen them being sold at my local supermarket. I am guessing they are not going to be free. They don't describe it as a yogurt, but as a dairy dessert.....any feedback guys?
WOW!!!! they look great! I am def making them tomorrow, did they take long to cook? Did you use the cajun or just did them plain. thanks for posting a pic by the way xxx
Good idea, try some original days and see how you go. I used to get really badly bloated and wind (!!) on green days. It used to get really bad after 3 or 4 days of being on green. Now, I try to not do more than 2 green days without an original day and it seems to help a bit, but overall...
If anyone makes these and can get a good pic can you post it here I am really curious to see what the home made ones are like!!!!! I might try tomorrow myself as am on original today, but on the tele - they looked fried!!!!
I had a take away the other day from the kebab shop (shock horror). There is a very good place in Canterbury that delivers. I had a large chicken shish kebab (tender pieces of chicken breast marinated and chargrilled) minus the pitta bread (suppose you could have a HEXb Asda one if you really...
I was just going to suggest steak or grilled chicken. Most chargrilled things taste great. You could ask for extra salad instead of chips. I recently when to Italy for 3 days on a Spa break, stayed in the best hotel with huge buffet lunch and restaurant dinner, and saved myself by sticking to...
No they didn't, they just cut them into chips, mixed over the egg white and baked them. I might try them later actually. they did whisk the egg white for a while though!
Hello Everyone!
I watched an episode of "cook yourself slim" the other day and noticed that they made really delicious looking chips by cutting up come potatos into chips. In another bowl they whisked an egg white up and then put the chips and egg white into a bowl and mixed them. Added a tbsp...
Hi Pamella, I put a post on yesterday about Mix2Match. Wondered the same like you if SW still do it. Do you know if you still choose 2 HEX a's and b's?? Thanks
I would take them back to be honest. Foamy yogurt doesn't sound right. Maybe they were left out for too long at some stage between manufactuer and retailer. They may have even had other complaints, def worth making them aware. Chances are they will know what the problem is. good luck
Found some old booklets inbetween my old Sw books and found a Mix2match book.
I remember going on this if I fancied a change from green and original days.
As I understand it, you have 3 meals a day. Breakfast can be original, lunch green and dinner original, only superfree foods between meals...
Hello Shinymoon,
Dont be discouraged, I know it's hard esp when you have stuck to the plan. Sometimes the loss doesn't show up until the second week. I had this once and nearly jacked it all in, but I carried on and was really pleased the following week with a 5pound loss. You will lose, dont...
Hi, I have about 8-9 stone to lose. I am the heaviest I have even been. I know it will take time, but I have reached the decision I need to, and I am determind to stick to it this time round.
There is alot to east on SW, and I have so far, never been so hungry that I had blown it all. In my...
Had quorn burger with sliced boiled egg, tomato and black pepper with a tbsp of low fat salad cream, all in a HEX B pitta - DELICIOUS!!!! and really filling
I've just checked this as I have panicked about the wholemeal pitta bread. On the SW online diary, it gives ASDA wholemeal pitta as a HEX B choice on green and red days. I dont think it's been in place all that long, but according to their website you can have it as a HEX.
I am not sure about EE...
Hi,
I have also suffered the same since on SW. I have found it seems to be worse on Green days, gets quite bad ( and constipation , sorry) if I have more than 3-4 green days in a row.
On red days, it's nothing as bad, if not, non existent.
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to make you all aware I had a DELICIOUS lunch yesterday which I took to work with me. It filled me up and it was virtually syn free.
Asda wholemeal pitta bread (HEX B)
Quorn quarterpounder burger
Boiled egg, sliced
Sliced tomato
Tbso reduced fat salad cream 1.5...
I work shifts full time. I re-joined SW online on Jan 2nd this year, so far I have been quite pleased. I weigh myself when I've just got up. I have lost a stone so far. I found last time round when I went to the meetings, I could only realistically get to one in 3 and i lost the motivation to go...
Hi,
I got some from lakeland after reading about them on here. I have (so far) only tried them on pasta and veg, and to be totally honest, I couldn't take the difference.
Tomorrow I will try them on a jacket potato and will let you know. I also thought the use by date was quite short (Aug...
Hello everyone,
I have joined SW online and have lost approx 1 stone since January. I have a question about syns. Do you have to have them to lose weight?
The book I have outlines the Sw diet, and after explaining about free foods and healthy extras, says "if you still have room" and then talks...
Today I had
Hex A - 250ml Semi skimmed milk
Hex A - 2 x Babybel light (think you can have 3)
Hex B - Brown Roll
Hex B - 415g Tin of Baxters Minestrone with wholemeal pasta
I was lusting (!!) over a Galaxy Caramel and decided I would have it on Weds if I didnt use any other syns. I ate a couple of pieces and then I was happy, I could take it or leave it after that....now I really fance a creme egg!!!
I am a shift worker and in the past not being able to get to the meetings de-motivated me and I came off the diet as a result. I have joined online this time round, my friend gave me her SW book from a few years back and I use the SW site for syns online and tracking my weight. All in all, I...
My SW book gives you the values for example for french fries. Multipacks normally have less in them than a standard bag. Now they dont write how much they put in them, looks like I'll have to weigh them myself.
Has anyone tried this?
I think it's supposed to be like angel delight.
You add 125ml of skimmed milk and whisk.
Presumably you could add semi skimmed as long as you count it as part of you HEX or syns.
Interesting topic. I made myself a banana smoothie this morning with a banana and milk from my HEX allowance. The pureed banana worked out 4.5 syns and it wasn't even that big!!! Very filling though.
Hello everyone, just wanted to share this with you.
I have been purchasing Walker's multipacks (French Fries). I have looked everywhere on the outer wrapper for the weight of the contents of each bag. I have looked everywhere on the actual bag for a weight, again with no luck. I had a similar...
Nando's chicken in pitta is a chicken breast (no skin) in pitta. Not sure about the glaze though...I am sure that would have some kind of oil in. If it were me, I would syn the pitta, marinade and corn, and have an original day x
I tried Quark when I joined SW and didn't think it was all that nice. I stirred mine in some soup at the end before serving. It tastes very low in fat, like the idea of it in smoked salmon sandwich, might try that
I add mine to home made soup on a green day. I boil it for approx 15 mins and then throw a load in! It's really filling! Like the idea of putting it in bolognese sauce, will def be trying that!
Whilst we are on the subject I have noticed I go to the loo much more as well. I am going to count in a prune or two a day and see if that helps as sometimes I can be rather constipated....or maybe that's just my body clock protesting because I work shifts!
I agree, it's very nice and much cheaper than most of the others. I like the one that's dusted in seasoned flour, since SW I haven't had it, but you have given me an idea I'm going to look it up!!
My friend is coming to see me tomorrow and because I am doing SW I dont want to have our usual take away. I was thinking for ages what to cook, until I realised that my friend is a vegetarian and I can have quorn on a green day!!!
I have decided on pasta with syn free tomato sauce (have added...
Hi and welcome to the forum. I have been on here approx 2 weeks and am so pleased I found this site. Everyone is really supportive and helpful. Good luck, hope to see you on here x
Very well done. I agree, it doesn't even feel like being on a diet, because with SW you are not hungry. In the past, when I've been dieting and hungry, it's all gone out the window. I am so pleased I have joined and found this forum. This time I will do it. Lost 6 kilos so far in 2.5 weeks!
Wanted to share with you my syn free tomato sauce recipe. Perfect on pasta, as a base for casserole, in the slow cooker with meat.
In a small saucepan, empty the contents of a tin of peeled plum tomatoes. Use a potato masher to squash the tomatoes, until it resembles mashed pulp. Peel a clove...
I know what you mean, there are many other yogurts you can have that are syn free...what about the shape "fuller for longer" ones?
Do you like cottage cheese? Very low fat varieties are free, also Hartley's low sugar jelly pots are 1/2 syn each, they make a nice change to yogurt!
Hello Everyone,
Am just planning my meals for the next few days. Have realised that on GREEN days, you have cheese as an option on a Healthy Extra.
Does this mean for example, I can have the following;
A - Milk
A - Reduced Fat cheddar 42g
B - Reduced Fat Cheddar 42g
B - 4 ryvitas Dark rye...
I think I read somewhere that "butter buds" available from Lakeland are half a sin per sachet and apparently they taste delicious.
Butter Buds®
Low calorie powdered butter substitute. All the flavour of butter without the fat.
Produced from real butter, Butter Buds undergo a special process...
All Bran keeps me going til lunch. You get 42grams as a HE B choice. I let it soak and then chop some banana onto it. Much more filling that Weetabix and porridge for me
Sometimes I have some almonds or some olive oil or cheese, if I haven't used them all up. When I joined SW a few years ago I wasn't eating my syns thinking it would make me lose quicker, I was good all week, then at weigh in I didn't lose. My consultant checked my diary and told me to use up my...
Just wanted to tell you all about my delicious dinner yesterday. Had skinned and boned chicken thighs. Brushed over them Heinz Spread and Bake Sticky BBQ sauce and roasted in the oven for approx 40 mins. DELICIOUS!!!!
1.5 Syns on Original, Green and EE (per level tablespoon)
Really...
It's the people whom you care about who's opinions should matter - take no notice, she doesn't really know what she is talking about. 1000's of people have proved SW works.... xx
Just thought I would let you all know I have found a really nice veggie lincolnshire.
Cauldron - Lincolnshire Sausage - 1.5 syns each on red and green
Nice texture and filling!
Had them this morning in a brown roll with egg
I agree with Donnie46, start again the next day. If you limit your syns for the remainder of the week to compensate you may feel deprived and go over as it's counter productive. Turn it into a flexible syns evening and go back on it from the next day xx
There was a review in this month's SW mag about a new product by Mattessons called Fridge Raiders Mighty Bite - marinated chicken breat on a stick. 1/2 syn per stick on EE and Original.
I haven't seen them yet in my local supermarket, but some other people on this forum have said they are very...
Wow!! what a good idea, I might do that too! Do you have a Wilkinson's where you live? They have a good choice and are competitively priced, or WHS smith. You would probably find they are cheaper now we are in 2010!
You have given me a really good idea! thanks!
Hello everyone,
I am just organising my weekly shop and am trying to find a cheaper alternative to Mullerlight yogurts.
On the slimming world website online, it shows that the syn value is zero - however, when I worked this out on the syns calculator, it gave a syn value of 3.5!!!!
Can anyone...
The online diary lets you have 10 almonds as a B choice on red or green days. I tend to have these if I'm stuck for a second B. It doesn't offer this in the SW book though, i've only seen it online
Morrisons sell their own brand Cous Cous, it is dry and should be free on green days, depending how it's cooked. I normally dissolve a vegetable stock cube in some boiling water and pour it over then cover with clingfilm and leave to absorb before fluffing up with a fork. It's very versatile...
Not sure if this is the correct place to post this. I am a new user to this forum and have been back on SW for approx 4 days now. Is there a way to quickly locate threads you have replied to? When you post a reply it says you are "subscribed". Rather than trawling through post after post, is...
I have been using mine on crisps (skips and walkers french fries) if I'm feelingsavory or a Viennese Whirl for 7 sins if I fancy something cake like. Also, the jumbo Snack a Jacks (cheese flavour) are 2 sins each.
Ohhh please dont feel bad....I had a bad morning with the snow and woke up late and gave in and had a Mcdonalds muffin for breakfast. I am hoping I can use syns from today and have less tomorrow to compensate and hopefully stay on track. Dont give up, keep at it! xx
Good Morning,
I have eaten a Sausage and egg mcmuffin from Mcdonalds today. SW online states this is 22.5 syns. Can I use my sins for today (15) and 7.5 from tomorrow quota, or do I have to use flexible syns? I would rather have less syns tomorrow. I cant find this on their website. Thanks x
Beef brisket is delicious cooked in the slow cooker. Before I joined SW I used to add wine and a little stock, now I just add stock so that it's about a 1/4 of the way up the meat and chopped up veg. I cook it for 8 hours on low and the meat falls apart. It's also a good value cut and you get...
Butter Beans are cheap and filling. Great with tuna and drizzled with Balsamic vinegar or lemon juice. Also good for soups. They are like big baked beans!
I always thought that slow cookers had to have liquid in there.....maybe I am wrong. You could wrap in foil and then heat up in the oven when you get back, shouldn't take too long...
Good morning all!
I have recently re-joined slimming world (this time online) and have been on the plan for 2 days. I keep seeing references to Extra Easy plans on their website, but cant find anywhere any step by step instructions on how it works. I am familiar with the classic red and green...
If there is liquid in it and it was left on a low setting it should be ok. I have left mine on overnight with no problems at all. It might be slightly overcooked, assuming you wont be home til around 6ish?
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I have tried slimming world in the past and want to go back on it after 3 years. I work shifts and would not always be able to attend the weekly meetings, which was one of the issues I had sticking to the diet last tried I tried to lose weight.
I am...
