    Is it possible?

What's the proportion of people who successfully reach goal weight on this website? As a guess I'd say between 1 in 100 and 1 in 1000. Determination doesn't seem to be working.

Cooking - Is it a dying art?

I don't like cooking, I would probably cook once a year, if that. I much prefer to just open a tin of tuna and have some fruit or veges. Anyway, there is a saying "never trust a thin chef" so I think that some people who love to cook are more likely to have weight issues. Junk food is another...

    Is it possible?

Is is possible? Definitely. Probable? Maybe. If I were to do my weight loss all over again, I'd do it a simpler way than how I've got it now, which is: Pick someone I trust, who has more money than I do. Get them to sign an agreement that they get money from you, and don't pay it back until...

What should be my ideal or goal weight?

My goal has a BMI of 19.7 so there is nothing wrong with choosing a lower weight.

What should be my ideal or goal weight?

Personally, I'd say that it depends... I'm a fan on just looking into the mirror. Does your stomach stick out? Do you have a waist? These indicate how much more to lose. I don't believe that people should use a formula for 'ideal' weight unless it has about 5-10 variables (BMI has 2).

Been thinking..Are we craving more sweet food...

30 years ago, the price of sugar was double what it is now, without taking into account inflation. So sugary treats are less expensive. However, I have this theory that people are getting bigger because... other people are getting bigger. I'm sure that being around fat people all day has an...

I don't know if I can do this...

Sorry that you're going through this. Everybody who tries to lose weight goes through these issues, although I suspect that what you're going through is harder than what most cope with. It's times like this where your husband comes into play, maybe tell him what happened, and he'll show you...

How can i get Determination and willpower to lose weight?

I can't help you about your situation, however I've got a scheme that works for me: lose weight for the next 4 days. If I've lost weight since the last time I saw a film (which I see weekly), bought coffee (weekly) from the supermarket, or gone swimming (again, weekly) then I can do that thing...

    Is your OH....

Hey, thanks for the comments about my particular problem. I'll guess I'll just carry on the way it is at the moment, I'm hoping that as I lose weight, she'll start eating better. It's not a major problem, but it is something that makes things harder than they could be.

I can't afford most of these diets...

I'm in the same boat, all of these have extra costs associated with them. Weight watchers charge you for meetings you've missed! Anyway, I have a few suggestions. Protein is the biggest cost for me, I have 100g a day and that gets quite expensive. I typically have tuna and also whey powder...

So who here is close to goal?

Hey Nic, thanks for the reply. I'll check out now and then to see how you're going. Good luck and I hope you do something nice for when you reach goal.

    What is your Ideal weight?

Due to my own insecurities I have researched this topic ad nauseum. BMI is an approximation, based on two different variables (height and weight). It is ironic that fat content is not included in this calculation, since this is roughly what people are wanting to know about, but fat is not so...

How Far Are You From Goal?

I am about 9 months from goal, but that includes the last 5kg taking 3 1/2 months, don't want an at goal rebound like I had in 2000.

So who here is close to goal?

Thanks, I'm wanting to find people who are close to goal, so I can try and follow their loss with my loss. There seem to be lots of people a way off from goal, but very few who are close to goal, which is a bit of a worry I think.

    Is your OH....

Is my partner supportive of my weight loss? No. About 4 years ago, when I was about 3 months away from goal, she started making negative comments, I really didn't know how to handle it, so I rebounded. We're living together now, and she has junk food every day. Sometimes for breakfast, lunch...

    Exercise every day?

Personally, I think that if there is a connection between exercise and loss of fat, it's psychological. "I just ran for 30 minutes. Is is worth cancelling it out by eating a sandwich?".

So who here is close to goal?

I've just joined up, I'm probably at least 7 months away from goal, but I'm curious who here is much closer. Please post here so I can use you as inspiration for when I have bad days. Thanks. 93/86/66kg

"But you don't need to lose weight..."

I've got a few responses that I've thought up in case someone asks me how I'm going: (* = porkies) "Are you on a diet still?" More than 8kg above goal: Yes Less than 8kg above goal: No* "You don't need to lose weight" Thank you (then shut up). "You're getting too thin" I stopped losing weight...

Does everyone have a "natural" weight?

I've been on both sides. Up until the age of 25, my set point weight was so stable, I didn't even know how much I weighed! Then I developed a health problem, and suddenly my set point was - well, I've never been that heavy, I'll put on about 1kg a month until I have to do something about it...
