Struggling to get back on the wagon...

I'm the same ... I did so well when I started; lost two stones; felt completely motivated ... it was almost too easy! i've now put at least one stone back on, and every morning vow this will be the day I start looking after myself again. We can do it. Remember how great you felt when you were...

    advice please x

I tend to eat what I fancy - just adjust the quantities to keep within my calorie target (around 1200 - 1500 per day). To avoid feeling hungry, I need to eat more 'good' food as the quantities I am allowed are so much greater. I've lost more since I started calorie counting than I ever managed...

? for all of you succesful dieters

Same here. I only count calories, but soon learned that the lower the fat content, the larger portion size I was able to have! You are definitely right about the portion sizes - I've noticed my slim friends eat less (no seconds, no matter how scrummy pudding was!), and so I've started copying...

Has anyone else had this, or should I be worried?

Of course! Why didn't I think of that before! My brother and dad both had it a few years ago. Although boredom might set in, the more you rest, the quicker the body tends to heal. Drink lots of fluid, and have a continuous supply of healthy snacks on hand for when food boredom hits. How...

Tv show This morning debate - new idea about doctors calling 'fat' instead of obese.

I heard that on the news earlier in the week - it made me laugh a bit to think that doctor's were being warned not to hurt people's feelings by calling them 'fat'. I'd rather be fat than obese any day. Obese has such a sound of finality to it ... it can sound like there's too big a hurdle to...

Has anyone else had this, or should I be worried?

Poor you - I've no idea what it could be, hopefully the doctor will have a solution ... if you pick up some ibuprofen from a chemist, it might be worth having a word with the pharmacist as they can often help while you wait for a GP appointment. Hope you get a good night's sleep soon x

    The Ball Starts Rolling...

Wow! What a great start - well done xx Reading other diaries might help you find some alternatives to celery and hummus, but the great thing about calorie counting is you can eat what you like as long as you add it all up. I found a pizza yesterday, that was 351 calories for 1/3 of the whole...

New and need some advice about VLC.

I agree that under 1000 is risky healthwise. There are some good websites that tell you what your body needs just to keep your organs working and healthy (with no activity), and some recommend you aim for 500 calories less than that amount. My height and weight declare around 1700 calories...

5lbs in a week thanks to Wii fit!!

It's been a week now since I succumbled to the lure of the special offer in Argos on Wii fit plus. Keeping to an average of 1200 calories a day, but adding 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily, and I dared to check the results of a body test just now, almost a week to the minute since my...

    Arghh i feel rubbish!!

Poor you - I hope you start to feel better soon. Take it easy, don't worry about the Wii fit, it will wait for you ... and you'll love it so much more when you are back on form (I got mine at the weekend, and am absolutely hooked!). Fingers crossed you're ok by the weekend.

    100 miles (wii fit Jogging)

I'd love to join you all ... I only got my Wii fit at the weekend and am close to collapse after jogging on the short distance, so doubt I'll manage 100 miles! It will be good to see how far I get though. Count me in!

I use the Foodfocus website, which lists all the calories burnt in different fitness/exercise activities. I would think you need to give your body something to work with, or you may have no energy left at all. If you are aiming for, say, 1200 calories per day, but on your marathon cycling...

    Last stone!

I agree with the others too - keep a food diary. I do it online, using Foodfocus and it's so easy Seeing what calories I need on a little graph, and making sure I eat less, even if just a little bit less, is all it takes! Good luck x

I've started to lose some weight!!!

I'm not exercising, apart from general daily stuff in and around the home and garden - some days I manage a 30 minute slow walk, but not always! And I'm not depriving myself with food too much either! I tried to aim for 1000 calories a day, but found I was too hungry, and ended up eating all...

I've started to lose some weight!!!

After a couple of weeks adjusting to my new inner voice which was determined to lose weight I decided to get back in control of my eating. I signed up to the foodfocus website (what an absolute godsend that is!), nearly a couple of weeks ago, and haven't looked back. With 4 stone to lose...

    Hello everyone!

What a great site this is! I've been overweight for all of my adult life (though I would long to be as 'overweight' as I was in my 20s now I'm well into my 40s!), and have 3 stone to lose to get to a more acceptable (though still on the heavy side) weight. I'm not a fan of slimming clubs, and...
