I really hope so, Anna. God knows I don't want to give up so soon, but nor do I want to feel sick and miserable all the time, either. It's not that I have a craving for food or anything, it's just the horrible gnawing hunger which won't leave me no matter how much water I drink. I feel almost...

I'm so discouraged at the moment. As well as being constantly famished, I'm feeling generally quite bad. I'm so close to giving up right now. I simply can't go on feeling like this all the time. So, unless I feel some marked improvement in my well-being tomorrow, then I'm afraid I'll have no...

That's a thought. My only worry is that I do leave for work very early in the morning, so I have to wake up at about 6. Still sounds worth a try, though. Many thanks. :)

Well, I'll stick at it for the remainder of my week's supply, and if I'm still feeling as bad as this, then I'll seriously consider going on the 790.

No, that's not really possible, I'm afraid. Oh well, if I get through today then that's ok, but a few more days of this and I just will not be able to handle it.

Well, I have two of those cartons when I'm at work (because it's simply not practical to prepare the packs here), and two packs when I get home. It's not so bad in the evenings, but trying to get through a work day on just two tiny cartons is absolute hell.

Thanks, Kath, I really hope you're right. Yes, I'm on day three. Personally, I couldn't care less what colour the ketostix is, it's feeling permanently hungry that I can't stand. I mean, during the first two days, I certainly had bouts of hunger, but nothing quite as persistent as this. And I've...

Thanks for that, Kath. Well, at the moment, I'm feeling pretty miserable and discouraged. I'm drinking so much water, yet feeling permanently famished. It certainly wasn't as bad as this the first two days.:sigh:

Hi, Luke, Just over two stone to lose. 31 lbs to be exact. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I think it's important for my health that I do this. I only used to drink water before the diet anyway, so it's not such a shock to the system for me to be drinking so much.

Thanks for that. It's just astonishing how much contradictory information appears to be on the internet. I've just been looking at two websites and they say completely different things. One says that the strip should be purple; the other that it should be pink.

Well, I've just had a look at a website, and I'm slightly confused. Because as Nicola was suggesting earlier, it says that the darker purple the strip, the more ketones you have. I did check first thing this morning before I had my first drink of water, so maybe I should check later on in the...

Hi, Nicola, Well, I could be wrong but I thought that, if you're in ketosis, the strip should be a pale pink colour.

Well, I'm now on day three and everything seems ok. However, there's one thing that puzzles me slightly. I tested my water this morning using one of the ketostix given to me by my counsellor, but, for some reason, the strip is showing up as a relatively darkish purple colour. Now, I've been...

Thanks Dawn, I'm feeling pretty determined to make a go of this. As well as your good self and the other folks on this forum, my girlfriend's been very supportive, so I know that I can make it. I think it helps that I usually just drink water anyway. I'm tee -total and have never acquired a...

Hi, Georgie, Well, the first day wasn't too bad, to be honest. Of course, it took a bit of getting used to and I did feel peckish for a lot of the time, but I think I managed ok. I think I must have drunk at least three litres of water, so that certainly helped. So, all in all, I don't feel...

Thanks a lot, Ruth. Yes, I've been downing the water all morning. I feel a wee bit peckish at the moment, but nothing too serious.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my first post. :) Well, I drank my first shake about 30 mins. ago and it tasted ok. If my stomach starts to gurgle, then I'm only a foot away from the water cooler at work. I know it's early days, but I'm pretty determined to make this work. Good luck to...

Just had my last proper meal. Good Lord, I feel like a condemned man. :( Well, the main thing is that I didn't pig out; I ate some healthy steamed chicken and vegetables. One thing's for certain: I'm not going to back out now.

Thanks Georgie, I've been very encouraged by the stories of some of the folks on here. I'm absolutely determined to do this and I know that I can do with lots of support and encouragement. Failing that, my girlfriend will kill me if I don't. No, seriously, she's been very supportive.

You lost 29 lbs in your first four weeks? That's very impressive. I need to lose about 31 lbs in total, but I'm in this for the long haul and I've certainly tried to prepare myself mentally for the first few days.

Thanks, Trudz, I'll certainly take your advice. I think it's important to keep in touch with other people who are in the same boat. I've been meaning to do this for ages, but it's only now that I've plucked up the courage to do it. I'm currently 15 st 3, and my target weight's 13 st.

Hi, everyone, I'm going to see my CD counsellor this evening. Then I'll be starting on SS tomorrow morning. I'd be really grateful for any moral support or advice anyone can give me. Thanks, David.
