    Former Fat Girl in waiting

I've promised myself I won't hide, so even though I went slightly off course today (lentils and quinoa - not a terrible sin, but not the packet stuff I should be having) I'm still here to confess. On the plus side, I walked to work and back, 2x 40 mins.

    Former Fat Girl in waiting

Stuck to plan today and walked 40 mins to work, but had to resist temptation to (pointlessly) get on the scales to see if any change after one day. Must be more patient!

    Former Fat Girl in waiting

After a few false starts, my head is finally in the right place (and my reflection is unrecognisable as me) so I'm finally ready to get serious about shifting the lard. Like most of us, I'm hoping a diary will keep me motivated, or help others, but mostly it means I have nowhere to hide...

    Total Solution Leg cramps??

cramps can be caused by low sodium levels in your body. Salt contains sodium, which is why is it often recommended to prevent cramps. Too much salt is of course bad for you, but your body needs a bit of salt to survive!

VLCD/ketosis confusion/other plans outside of Exante? HELP please :)

It would be useful to compare the various options (exante/CD/LL vs supermarket options/Biggest Loser) in terms of nutrient/calorie content, ketosis likelihood etc and make it a sticky as this comes up every week. I'm just as confused bigun and have bought some tesco bars as I'm not too keen on...

    Restarter for the last time!

"And if you weren't so stupid/ignorant/[insulting adjective of your choice], I wouldn't have had to ask!" Of course that's no use to you now, and you're probably like me in that you think of these responses later, or would never actually dare use them because you were actually brought up to...

vile but could constipation make you gain

I have a big 2l bottle which I put a 2/3 teaspoons of soluble fibre into every day (with a funnel!) and then fill with water, and that gives me fibre for the day in the water that I have to drink anyway. I think it's called Benefibre, but it's really good & completely taste-free. It does work to...

    Total Solution Excessive wind?

Ooh, i feel lucky, not had any problems at all with that, ahem, issue. I do seem to have developed chillblains though from being so cold all the time, which is weird for this time of year, so my toes are very painful :(

    The dreaded scales

My bathroom scales do this too sometimes and I have to move them about a bit to find a patch of floor that 'works'. I'd be cheeky and just go with the lowest. Home scales are only a guide anyway, really and are unlikely to ever be 100% accurate. The ones that count are the doctors scales. I'm...

    Getting to know you thread

Wow, so many wonderful people and stories here, and reasons for wanting to lose weight! I live in Surrey but work in London in the legal field, so lots of time spent sitting down (uncomfortably) on trains, hanging around at stations near fastfood/sandwich places, not having not much time and...

What are you looking forward to being able to wear?

Ooo I can't wait to rip them labels off! Haha, yes me too. Boyfriend is always saying to me "why do you need new clothes, you have loads that are new that you never wear?" and he has said if I can't fit into them I should chuck them out, so I'm just gonna have to fit into them somehow! One...

    Off to bed... strugging :(

I'll do it. I've got some work to finish tonight so going to be awake a while longer yet! I have lain awake several nights lately though with empty tummy and so so cold - hope thing start to improve soon for you princess.

How many carbs knock you out of ketosis

My tummy has been grumbling all morning and I'm really hungry, after finally getting to the stage where I wasn't feeling hunger! Bah. No chicken or anything in the house either, so I'll just have to put up with it.
  15. T

How many carbs knock you out of ketosis

I had some fruit and yogurt last night and the little stick this morning told me I was out of ketosis, and it really was only a mouthful of berries and a regular portion of yog, so it doesn't take much! But the scales this morning showed a small loss anyway, so hopefully not too much damage done.
  16. T

What are you looking forward to being able to wear?

Hell yeah! I know all about that Roanne. I'm also looking forward to wearing a thong that doesn't cut into me and make me feel anything but sexy. And I'm looking forward to being able to wear heels without feeling self conscious about chubby legs.
  17. T

Right, have to re-start tomorrow :(

I had a blip tonight, though it was not really one I could do anything about as I was at a friends for dinner and they gave us a fruity pud, and having avoided carbs for the whole meal and barely eaten anything, I couldn't really turn it down without giving the game away about the diet I'm on...

What are you looking forward to being able to wear?

Monsoon dresses are lovely, aren't they. I've got one from 2 years ago I'd like to get back into, it's dark blue with embroidered flowers and I've only worn it once, and even that was with spanx on underneath! oh the shame. I've seen a gorgeous Cath Kidston swimsuit but it's halterneck and...

Why add a meal on week 5?

I like the suggestion upthread of treating it as practice for when you come off the diet completely. I think I'll look at it that way too to stop myself getting too carried away. If there's health reasons for doing it, it's probaby a good idea.
  20. T

What are you looking forward to being able to wear?

I have loads of clothes I can't wait to fit into again, and hopefully I'll soon be able to get that nice swimsuit I've had my eye on for a while in a size that doesn't make me cry. What are looking forward to fitting into again, wearing for the first time, or buying for yourself once you know...

Do the bars affect whaf you lose

I was told the same thing by my CDC and wasn't allowed bars for the first week, but have had them from day 1 on Exante and been fine so far in terms of losses. The fact that they are nowhere near as nice as the CD ones is another matter!!

Has anyone tried hot sauce with their soups?

I didn't have any curry powder so tried mild chilli powder instead and it was nice, and kind of warmer than tabasco but not as hot (if that makes sense). Made the mushroom soup go down a lot more easily.
  23. T

Has anyone tried hot sauce with their soups?

good idea ouzel, I can't stand the mushroom one but might give that a go today.
  24. T

    Choco shake

I did it all the way through CD and had no problems. It's either that or don't do the diet, and it hasn't killed me yet (and luckily the flask is not see-through so I can drink it and no-one asks me any awkward questions, which they would do if I was stood there with a shaker and packet of powder).
  25. T

if hot/boiling water kills vitamins why add it to the soup?

There may be a small health risk in using water from the hot tap, rather than either cold water and then microwaving it, or water that has just boiled, because hot tap water has generally been sitting in your hot water tank from anything from a few hours to a few days, and so there is greater...

    Choco shake

Yep, mix it up first thing with a hand blender, pour it into a tupperware flask thingy and put it in the fridge at work - nice and cold for lunch time. It's the only way I'm able to do the diet and work.

    Dress sizes

One thing I've really got to unlearn is the bad habit of buying something in a certain size just because in my head I think I am that size, or don't want the shame of having something of a larger size in my wardrobe. I've got to accept that in some shops I'm a 12, in others a 14, in others a 16...

    Choco shake

That's a really good idea. I might try that tomorrow, instead of my morning cup of tea.
  30. T

    Choco shake

No, it's just mint essence/flavour. It's usually with the food colouring in the supermarket. You only need a couple of drops, it's quite strong.
  31. T

if hot/boiling water kills vitamins why add it to the soup?

I can't see how adding boiling water or microwaving is going to make the slightest bit of difference to the vitamins. Complan/Build Up is full of vitamins and can be made with boiling water. It might be that Exante want to make sure you don't burn yourself and try to sue them!
  32. T

    Choco shake

Oh how mean! I keep mine in the fridge at work so it is cold and doesn't really smell at all, but you could try adding some mint flavouring to it to make it choc-mint, and no-one should ever really have a problem with the smell of mint.
  33. T

    Dress sizes

It also depends on the manufacturer and the cut of their clothes. I'm already a 12 in M&S (yes, they are generous sizes) and my size 14 Next jeans have been baggy pretty much since I got them, but their 12s are weirdly FAR too tight, and seem more like an 11 (if there was such a thing!).

Been on holiday for two weeks and lost 4 pounds!

Crikey, well done, that is fab! I am off for a week's all inclusive in June and a bit worried that I'll pile back on anything I've lost, especially as I'll have to drink a bit otherwise other half will think I'm trying to spoil his fun. Got to resist that "I'm going to get my money's worth"...
  35. T

Right, have to re-start tomorrow :(

It's just a litle slip up, and honestly could have been worse (mine always are!). Just put it behind you and carry on where you left off. My favourite motivation against going overboard on the forbidden foods is knowing how long it'll take to get back into ketosis - can't bear the thought of...

    New to Exante!!

I've started adding a few drops of mint flavouring to the choc shakes for a bit of variation (and of course the vanilla/coffee combo). No idea how to make the banana and strawberry ones less sickly, other than to add a couple of ice cubes and get them down me quick!

Hi Skinniminx, I started it today and it has been fine so far. (famous last words!) Good luck with it tomorrow. Don't be put off by not starting on a monday - from past experience I know it is no bad thing to have your weigh-in day as any other day, as you don't have the same emotional...

Restart Diary of a comfort eater (36lbs to lose)

I have found CD really good for this. Tealight's diary - slim by September?

That's an interesting point, Leeds123. The food I...

Tealight's diary - slim by September?

Extra motivation has come from a looming clear-out - anything that does not fit me must be ebayed/given to charity by the end of the summer - so says boyfriend, and he is right, we do not have the space at the moment for stuff we do not use. Let's hope I'll be throwing out the stuff that's too...

    Need Help!!!. NEED VLCD HELP.

Hi Mo, I have found that doing a VLCD is not expensive, compared to the amount I used to spend on food, and as you get all your nutrition etc from the packs, you don't crave anything else, so no popping out to the corner shop to get chocolate, crisps etc. I have also tried eating only 1000...

You are being so dedicated with your food diary and portion sizes, I am very impressed and envious. Coconut Water?

Fresh from the coconut is when it tastes best! It is extremely good for you, lots of nutrients, but I guess CD has all the stuff we need, so it's another little luxury we'll have to manage without. Saggy Skin???

I have heard that exercising as you lose weight can help with the saggy skin - not sure how, but assume it helps tone the muscles underneath etc. I'll probably up my swimming/walking and start to massage on my skin all those tubes of firming cream I have accumulated in the bathroom cabinet, in...

Thanks Lyndzi and Great Things! Next WI is in 2 weeks' time, as I am off on hols next week (and expect that I will eat more than one SS+ sized 'portion' of fish each day on top of my usual shakes etc!) but still hoping that being 100% either side of the holiday will mean I should still have a...

50+ Reasons To Lose Weight - For Those Low Moments

Wow, these could all apply to me too. I'm definitely going to follow this thread. The reason that has kept me going today is to be able to wear the lovely lingerie my OH bought in the size I was when we first met, not realising that a year into our relationship I had grown somewhat!
