    Buffet dilemma

Not 'buffet food' as such but would jacket potatoes be a good indoor alternative? Welcome to the forum :) There are a few VLCDs that people on here will recommend - I just do calorie counting so can't recommend anything specific to you. It might help if you get some details about yourself on here though - how much you weigh, how much you're looking to lose, etc. :)

    Couch to 5k

I think it's important to leave a day in between running sessions, especially when you're just starting out - you need to give your body a chance to recover from the new strains you're putting on it. Well done on starting! It's only a few weeks since I was where you are now and yet it seems like...

    The Universal body contour wrap

I had never heard of it but, to be honest, I wouldn't bother. It's not taking fat out of your body and that's what you need to do to actually lose weight - it's the excess fat that's the problem that needs to be dealt with, if it was a quick fix to look a bit slimmer that you were after then...

Top tips on tackling takeaway weekend?!

I've been buying the Innocent readymeal pots recently, or Sainsbury's do an own-brand version - they're vegetable curry and rice all mixed together in a tub, from 220 calories up to about 400, depending on which one you have. They're really filling portions too! They've got a Thai curry one, an...

    Ankles and Calves

You might find when you're first losing weight that it comes off different areas at different rates - I've lost a stone so far since I restarted calorie counting, but when I was losing weight a couple of years ago I'd notice a big difference in my thighs one week, then my arms the next, etc.

Weighing every day... how do I stop it?!

It suits me to do that too. I count my weight loss as being the lowest weight I see on the scales - it might fluctuate so much that I wouldn't show up a weight loss at the end of the week, even though I'd had losses during the week, and that wouldn't be very encouraging. I don't mind the daily...

Food ideas for a fussy eater...

Quorn products are really good. I don't eat meat but buy quite a lot of Quorn. Some of the options aren't always going to be the 'healthiest' in that they can't replace fruit/vegetables, but they might be better than the full-fat meat alternatives. Some of their readymeals are quite low calorie...

Food ideas for a fussy eater...

I'm not that fussy so it's hard to know what you might like or might not like but how about putting vegetables/salad into tortilla wraps? They're about 200 calories each but you can get a lot of veg/salad into one (maybe with something else like egg or ham) and it's filling but maybe doesn't...

I run outdoors too. I tend to run at night to avoid the heat (and to avoid having to get up extra early!), but that's not going to be ideal for a lot of people. Put the scales somewhere out of sight and where it's difficult to get to them (e.g. on top of a tall cupboard, behind a load of things, etc.) - set a weighing day and only get them out then. Rigby's weight loss diary

I had a naughty treat today, I bought a little pot of ice-cream at lunchtime :D I realise it's not a sensible way to use calories so don't do it often but it was a nice treat, and I'm not actually hungry now and am still under my calorie allowance for the day :)

    Rigby's weight loss diary

Slightly over my calories tonight and have been very busy on an essay so haven't been able to fit in any exercise. However, tomorrow is a new day with no evening plans, so I'll see what I can fit in then :)

What are you looking forward to when goal weight is acheived?

I'm looking forward to: - wearing tops that don't have to be loose for me to feel comfortable and not having to choose everything in a style that hides everything I don't like :o - not being heavier than all of my friends, including male friends (who are all either short and slim or tall and...

New Monday Weigh In - please join!

For the purposes of my weekly weigh-in (i.e. this message thread and my weekly signature updates) I've stayed the same, 12st 12lb (180lb). Boooo :( However, I've been down by 1lb for most of the week at 179lb, so it's just today being a little blip and I know I'm doing things right so I don't...

    harem pants

I don't see the appeal of them either, if I'm honest. The 'drop crotch' ones are particularly strange...I saw a man in 'drop crotch' jeans a few weeks ago and couldn't believe that he'd actually intended to go out looking like that!

    Will I be welcomed back?

This is so true :) Of course people will welcome you back, we're all on the same journey, it's just some of us take longer to reach our destination and have more little detours on the way! I did the same as you, stopped actively trying to lose weight and put a bit back on. I'm still trying to...

    Rigby's weight loss diary

Exercise this morning and just had 270 calorie soup for (late) lunch, mmm :) Today feels like a good day anyway. I've set myself a mini challenge for between now and the end of May. I've got my longterm goal, of course, and mini goals I'd like to cross off my list as I reach them, but I thought...

Welcome to the forum :) It's amazing how much of a change can be achieved in a year. Very inspiring, well done!

First WI result, but not a good day!

Well done on the weight loss! I think you're right, you'll have a better day tomorrow and the rest of the week can go so well: just think how good it will feel to have a nice loss again this time next week :)

    Rigby's weight loss diary

Starting my diary thread on here wasn't a bad idea at all, it inspired me to drag out my mini trampoline for the first time in months, so I've been on there this evening :) I'm feeling determined!

    Rigby's weight loss diary

Hi all :) I'm not new here, I joined last year but have had a break for a while, from both the forum and from actively trying to lose weight. Now I'm back and I think it's time I started a diary on here to keep me on track and to help me with reaching my goals :) I began 2010 weighing 15st 4lb...

How did you decide your goal/ideal weight?

I started losing weight in January last year (weighing 15st 4lb), at that time working to a target of 10st. That would put me only just into the 'normal' BMI category, with a BMI of something like 24.8, and 10st seemed like a good number to aim for, although ultimately I knew I wanted to weigh...

My mum is INSISTING on cooking roast lamb, what should I do?

If you really think it will upset her for you not to have it then I'd probably suggest having some but keeping the portion fairly small. As someone else rightly said, you need to be still eating 'normal' meals and, I think, being involved in the social aspect of eating as a family, which might...

New Monday Weigh In - please join!

I've tended to weigh myself daily but now want to do a weekly weigh-in to give myself a bit of a target and a better motivation to stay on track, so I'll join you by weighing in on Monday :D

1 year on since starting calorie counting!

    THE SHRED THREAD..!!!

I did the DVD for a bit last year, really liked it and planning to start using it again in the next few days :)

Team Snowflake - July edition :)

Sorry for being quiet, I've had a bit of computer trouble. Still no weight loss here, getting fed up with it because it's been at a standstill for so long that it's just getting silly. Hopefully soon! :(

Team Snowflake - July edition :)

I still don't seem to be losing anything, no idea what's going on with that, hopefully I'll see a change again soon  :sigh:
