How to stop it ruling your life

I agree that you do have to make sacrifices to be slim but you also have to enjoy life too. I follow the plan, but if there is a special occasion like a birthday or meal out with friends or family, rob and I getting to go out as my parents are visiting and can babysit etc then I do eat or drink...

Welcome to Newbies 2013 - Say Hello here!!!

This is kind of a new hello from an old member :wavey: I joined here back in 2010 I think and I was kind of doing my own thing to lose weight (or try to), then joined Slimming World but gradually gave up as I'd always done in the past. Fast forward 2 years and I am mummy to my fabulous little...

    Keep Losing Strength

Every week I go to group and keep saying 'I'm going to have a great loss next week', then the weekend comes and I lose all willpower. Today I had a good breakfast, then at lunch I wanted what Rob and Dylan were having instead of making myself something different again like omelette, pasta etc so...

So hard with a hangover lol

It is so hard. I wasn't hungover today but I just felt yucky from drinking a few glasses of wine yesterday at a friends wedding so we had a chinese tonight and I am going to do a few Success Express days to make sure I still get a good loss this week.
  14. welshgirl21

    Exercise Plan

I don't exercise every day as such, not a set activity anyway. I run around after my 14 month old which keeps me pretty active at home or when we're at the park or in the garden. I am going to try the Insanity Workout which should be interesting but I am keen to see how just the body can be used...

Extra Easy: Healthy Extra B - Porridge

Anyone know why the Oat So Simple 27g unflavoured sachets are no longer a HEb choice? 35g of unflavoured porridge oats are so can I not just measure out 35g of unflavoured Oat So Simple oats? I need something different to Weetabix for breakfast and loved my Oat So Simple sachets.

    Son's words...devastating

Big hugs hun, you will both enjoy your walks together and he will love being a part of your journey and helping you. Body Magic while Injured

I have over-used the muscle in my foot and damaged the soft tissue and been told by the dr to rest it as much as possible for 4-6 weeks so my walking/zumba/wii fit etc are all out. Thing is I am 6 weeks into my Gold Body Magic Award - what can I do to carry on with this while I'm injured?

    Lidl or Aldi Yoghurt

Is there a yoghurt you can buy in Lidl or Aldi that is free? I'm starting to shop there as it's cheaper so it's a pain having to go to the supermarket to get muller lights which are also expensive.

    Impatient

Thanks for the reply. I think because I have been this weight for so long when I only see small losses I can't see myself getting closer to a weight I want to be. I don't have a set number in mind but I would like to first get to around 11 1/2 stone which would be a stone loss. I didn't go to...

    Impatient

Thank you, that's sound advice. I don't weigh more than once a week, I locked my home scales in the garage at the bottom of the garden and I weigh at the gym on a Monday. I think it's accepting that exercise has to become a life change and commitment and hopefully in a few weeks my body will...

    Impatient

Does anyone get really impatient with losing weight? I only lost 0.4lb this week, I went to the gym last night and felt really good. How long do I need to keep up regular exercise before I start to see better losses?

What are your exercise plans for today?

Nothing today but did 2 hours ice skating yesterday so had to rest the legs today :)

    I'm Back

So I haven't been here for a while, I relaxed a bit on holiday and then never got back to being healthy. Things are getting out of hand now as my trousers are getting too tight so I'm back on it, more so now as OH and I are trying for a baby. Today I've had: Cheerios with natural yoghurt and...

Yes I think so, I don't like the way they edited it as you never really got to know the contestants. All it seemed to show was the temptations and them working out, but the USA one shows them doing that but you also see them at home and they show a lot of the before and after so you get a real...

Last series they did 2 episodes showing them at home - one where they found out they had to do a marathon and it showed bob and jillian surprising them by visiting them at home, then the next episode showed them doing the marathon then they showed the final in the studio.

    Is exercise key?

I think they must bring in different hill climbs or something, not quite sure though. Typically I've felt crap all weekend with temperature, sore throat and a cold. Still going to go though and battle through it.
  48. welshgirl21

New Biggest Loser UK Jan starts 10th 2011!!

Not in the week but it's repeated on Saturday, around midday I think.
  49. welshgirl21

    Is exercise key?

Yeah they do them at my gym but I didn't know what it was so I googled it and it's similar to spin so I thought I'd give it a go.
  50. welshgirl21

    Is exercise key?

I went to Zumba last night and was all geared up for Body Combat tonight but it was cancelled grrrr. Hopefully Zumba again tomorrow (on waiting list at gym) then RPM on Monday and Wednesday next week and Body Combat Thursday.

New Biggest Loser UK Jan starts 10th 2011!!

I haven't heard anything, can't wait for it to start though. I don't know who I want to leave each week now as I kind of like all of them who are left. I don't think Sam has much left to lose now though fat wise so he may be a risk as time goes on.
  52. welshgirl21

New Biggest Loser UK Jan starts 10th 2011!!

Did everyone watch this weeks? I think the person who left leaving will benefit the one who stayed.
  53. welshgirl21

    Is exercise key?

I have a pretty sedentary lifestyle in that I drive to work as it's 10 miles each way, I have a desk job all day, I drive home then usually have dinner and watch TV. I have tried changing my eating and food, but because of my lifestyle is exercise going to be the key to losing weight?

I'm going to try some classes at my gym - I'm aiming for 3 a week and because you have to pre book I'll phone on Monday and book all my classes for the week, then I'll have to go. New Biggest Loser UK Jan starts 10th 2011!!

I think now Koli's biggest problem is Sam; Koli is keeping Sam there for Koli, not Sam. He needs to be detached from Sam and do it on his own, Sam is there and just needs to focus on toning as he doesn't have much fat left to lose. I like Ashleigh and Darus.

    Extremly Close to Giving Up

Better I think; I stopped the replacement shakes as they were too expensive and I didn't enjoy just having a shake at lunch. Plus I read the back and the sugar and carbs were really high. First Day on Slim Fast

I did it for a week and didn't lose anything and after reading another post I was very shocked by how much sugar and carbs were in it so I'm sticking with eating healthy as it's more long term for me personally. I can't afford it either and fruit and veg is cheaper for me. I hope it works for...

    Extremly Close to Giving Up

I have about the same to lose, maybe I'll increase what I'm eating as looking at the calorie calculator online I was under eating by a number of calories if I was exercising as well. If I am doing 3-5 days of moderate exercise I needed to be eating 2461 calories a day but I was only eating...

I understand that now and that may be the issue in my case, but it still doesn't explain how when I stuck to slimming world for 12 weeks I didn't lose weight. I don't know what to do; this tesco ultra slim won't be sustainable next week due to cost and the fact I have no ££. I'm sorry guys, I'm...

    First Day on Slim Fast

It's my first day too although I'm using tesco ultra slim which is the same as slim fast. The shake was actually really nice and I snacked on fruit in between. Confessions of a Serial Dieter Diary

Thank you everyone and diolch yn fawr Ali; I do know he loves me, I think I personally find it hard to understand why, what it is about me as a person that makes him love me; it all comes down to my self esteem of which there isn't much, but I am trying to work on it. The past week food wise...

Lil Mrs Sunshines Shrink Down Diary

I'm sorry but I have to agree; your body cannot sustain itself on just cereal in the morning and just an apple and yoghurt for lunch. For the amount of exercise you're doing you need carbs before exercise so your body has energy to burn and lots of lean protein after to repair the muscle. Eating...

Definitely no surprise; like you said, the biggest mistake was letting people know she was playing the game. I'm keeping track using an app on my iphone and some days with exercise I've had an under eat of between 200-400 cals. I'm not too sure where I stand with that as I thought if I consumed less calories and burned more through exercise I would lose weight (maybe I'm showing my naivety here)...

I tend to eat 3 meals a day with 2 snacks, especially an afternoon snack as it gives my energy a boost for the gym. Vegetarian healthy eating?

I'm eating a lot more vegetarian foods. I haven't gone totally vegetarian but I'm eating a lot of Quorn products, Linda McCartney and the Cauldron range which I love. I still enjoy meat but I'm now thoroughly enjoying things like mushroom burgers, falafel (which I adore), quorn nuggets etc.

Confessions of a Serial Dieter Diary

I was actually thinking of a multi vitamin as if I'm using soya milk and cutting right back on wheat and gluten maybe I'm lacking in a few vitamins. I'm going to the gym 3x a week (if I can) and also doing my Biggest Loser on the Wii which is hard going at times too. One workout I did burned 200 calories! Thanks all for your kind words. I think I just need a break from it to be honest, it's a kind of 'it's not the plan it's me' kind of thing if that makes sense. I may well go back to it in time, who knows, I just know this is the right move for me right now.

    Obsessed!

I'm so pleased I stumbled across this thread as a newbie here as it has made me feel I'm not alone in how I've been feeling. My weight has gone up and down and up again all my life; I have issues with food and self image due to a past relationship and I am nearly always thinking or stressing...

    Newbie looking for a home!!

I hope so lol, I'm going to the south of France in 9 weeks so in about 7 weeks I'm going shopping for holiday clothes with my mum and I want to be able to pick a really nice bikini to wear and to just enjoy the shopping experience.

    Newbie looking for a home!!

That's my way of thinking now - Slimming World was all about syns and I could have up to 15 a day, but in certain situations it wasn't practical like when I'm doing an event at work and have to have a shop bought sandwich. I went for a wholemeal bread ham salad, but the slimming world syn value...

Hi to you both, Is it ok for me to pop on here? I've come over from the Slimming World board as I am getting frustrated having followed different 'diets' for years and my weight going up and down. I am now adopting a healthy way of living instead - lots of fruit, veg and lean meat/fish, more...

    Taking a Break

Hi guys, Just a little message to let you know I am going to be taking a break from SW for a while so won't be around here much. I'll still pop in to see how you're all doing as you've been so inspirational to me. I feel at the moment my heads not in the right place for SW and it's consuming...

Yes that's true, boo :( It's weird cos in the US they're about 2-3 series ahead of what's being shown over here; my mate in Chicago said the new trainer is nothing on Jillian.
  118. welshgirl21

    Whats for tea tonight?

Either SW fish and chips with mushy peas or wholewheat pasta with mince beef and tomato sauce. Probably the fish and chips for 2 reasons: It's Friday so will feel like a treat I have 1/2 a bag of spuds to use up
  119. welshgirl21

New Biggest Loser UK Jan starts 10th 2011!!

    Whats for tea tonight?

I was having Cawl as it's St David's Day but can't be bothered to make it (bad I know) so I'm using the slow cooked lamb shoulder I've been cooking since last night and just having it sliced with a leek and potato gratin type thing.

    Whats for tea tonight?

I'm learning how to use my new slow cooker at the moment so thought I'd give a cheaper cut of meat a go in there. Tomorrow will be leg of lamb cooked in there for 24 hours to go into a Cawl Cennin followed by traditional Welsh Cakes as it's St David's Day.

For people who are thinking about giving up...

Thank you so much for this, it was just what I needed as I have been feeling like this today, thinking maybe I'm just supposed to be this weight and to accept it and that I just can't do it. Like you said though, I will get tomorrow out the way, chase that wagon and jump straight back on it.

    Worried about * week :(

I really sympathise too, I've started today when I've still got 3 days of my pill left, had the worst cramps today too. Tonight I let myself go and had some wine, chocolate and a tesco finest dinner. I'm out with OH and his parents tomorrow night, but then I'm going to get back on as I feel...

My ex made me feel terrible about my body, told me I was fat, unattractive, unloveable etc and even now I am with an amazing man who loves me just as I am I find it so hard to see why. There are parts of my body I like; my boobs, shoulders and long legs but that's about it.

    Whats for breakfast?

    Cooking Spree

What do you make Elliewood? Do you just do soups or are there other things you make and freeze for work?
  218. welshgirl21

    Cooking Spree

It's a soup that uses loads of the super speed vegetables, if you search super speed in the recipe section there are a few threads with the recipe. I sweated squash, pepper, courgette, onion, parsnip, carrots and sweet potato in fry light with thyme, salt and pepper. Added 2 pints of chicken...

    Cooking Spree

It was a spur of the moment thing - OH was working late so I thought it be a good opportunity, have the kitchen to myself, put my music on etc. Plus all I have to do in the mornings is grab one out the freezer, in a bag and it'll be defrosted by lunch time ready to heat up.

    Cooking Spree

Been on a cooking spree tonight - 11 portions of soup; super speed and leek and potato, yummy.

    SW Comfort Foods

Hmm mushy peas and mayo, not sure on that one but each unto their own lol, a lot of people think my liking of cheese and jam is odd so I can't talk ;0)

    SW Comfort Foods

Thanks, I had SW chips with asda curry sauce (one you make up with hot water) which was yum and got left over chow mien for lunch today which I'm looking forward too.

    Whats for tea tonight?

    Second Weigh in...

Well done, that's great! I've gone back to red and green days after trying EE for 6 weeks. It may work for you if you try again but personally I like the discipline of red and green, plus I couldn't get on with the 1/3 superfree foods. Keep at it though, you're doing great.

    Helping OH Quit

Towards the end of last year my OH had a severe chest infection for 12/13 weeks where his blood oxygen levels dropped so low he was hooked up to an oxygen tank at the emergency clinic by the nurse at 28 years old. The nurse told him there and then, under no circumstances, could he smoke again...

    SW Comfort Foods

I've been feeling ill all week with chest and upper back pain, wheezing and shortness of breath. Due to this I've gone over my syns the last 2 days on chocolate and biscuits, not majorly, by around 5 per day but still over. When I feel like this I tend to eat to make myself feel better, but the...

New Biggest Loser UK Jan starts 10th 2011!!

The red team in the US one are so frustrating; the guy is totally under her thumb and she's so smarmy and smirky to the others too. She said this week that there was an atmosphere and attitude in the house and I just wanted to scream at her that she was the reason, grrrrrr. And to yell in the...

    Why am I sabotaging myself??

I've been the same, been feeling ill the last 2-3 days and have gone way over my syns on chocolate and biscuits.

    O...M...G, just dont understand

Muscle does weigh more than fat which is why on the BMI scale body builders, wrestlers, boxers etc are all classed as obese even when they are as fit as they are. When you first start working out your body will retain water but after regularly working out for 2-3 weeks your body will adjust and...

    2lb off for me.

Extra Easy Do you use your syns on meals or extra treats?

It really depends what mood I'm in or what my schedule for the day is like. If I fancy chocolate I'll have a 2 finger kitkat, but if I'm having SW chips or grilled bacon I'll use them for tomato ketchup or mayonnaise. Next week I have a few meetings for work with lunches provided so I'll save...

    Whats for tea tonight?

Chinese take away, but within my Syns allowance - crab and sweetcorn soup and chicken chow mein.
  233. welshgirl21

How do you plan your meals?

We plan on Sunday too - sit and look through our SW recipe books, write the ingredients we need for each meal. At the bottom of the list we write the general things we need and just buy what's on the list.

    Green Days Is this right?

Thanks so much for the list, I've printed it and I'll take it shopping next week. Where would you say has the best quorn selection?
  235. welshgirl21

    Green Days Is this right?

Thanks all, I was trying to think of something for dinner as I was going to do a red day today but ended up bringing a green lunch so am going green. All the dinners left on my menu for the week are red but I have quorn mince in the freezer so was going to do a bolognese.
  236. welshgirl21

    Green Days Is this right?

Is Quorn free on a green day?

New Biggest Loser UK Jan starts 10th 2011!!

That was great lol - did she really think the trainers wouldn't be able to work out what she was doing? Do you think her husband didn't want to say anything because he was mad at the trainers for shouting at her or because he is mad at his wife for throwing the weigh-in again?
  238. welshgirl21

    Whats for tea tonight?

Spicy Thai bites from the original recipe book.

Wish People Would Stop Joining My Gym!

Mine is chocca too but there are some amazing people there - I was on the treadmill next to a man who looked around mid fifties/early sixties; he was running inclines. When he finished he reached into the drink holder and pulled out a folded up white cane - he is blind and I just looked at him...

    Planning Will be Key

I've decided to go back to red and green days and am finding that planning will be key. Me and OH plan our evening meals for the week anyway from the SW recipe books but, because I'm am slightly dyslexic and majorly dyscalculic I get confused trying to work out my breakfast, lunch, dinner, HE's...

I'd actually like to know too as my mum is gluten intolerant.

Extra Easy 8 weeks and only 4 pound loss?

I've found the same so I'm going back to red and green for a few weeks and seeing how I get on with that. In 8 weeks I can't get past 12st 7lb so going back to basics.
  243. welshgirl21

    Snack ideas?

    Olives - I adore them.
  244. welshgirl21

Does anyone still just do red n green days?

I think I'm going back to red and green, my losses have been really slow in the last 8 weeks on EE so I'm going back to basics with good old red and green which worked for me years ago.

    Not Losing Weight

Sometimes I do, it depends on if I'm rushing in the morning but I might start doing it the night before. It's hard for me because I love milk so much, I was a very milky baby lol. Would having even a small amount of extra milk make that much of a difference then?
  246. welshgirl21

    Not Losing Weight

Drink wise it's water, sugar free squash and the occasional pepsi max or diet coke and tea (I syn the sugar if I'm out of sweetener).
  247. welshgirl21

    Not Losing Weight

The thing is I'm always full on the menu I've been eating, I couldn't possibly eat anymore food, some nights I'm not finishing my dinner because I'm full and I don't want to eat for the sake of it. I didn't realise exercise caused fluid retention so hopefully that'll even out and I'll try to...

    Not Losing Weight

I've been on SW EE for nearly 9 weeks now and I am still fluctuating within the same weight bracket - I am either 12st 11, 12st 9 or 12st 7 and it's getting so frustrating. I am planning my meals weekly from the SW recipe books and using the left overs for lunch the next day. An example of a few...
