Where to start. It’s not that I don’t remember being happy, I just don’t remember how it felt or where it came from, or how it went. I so often find myself wishing now that the world would hurry up and end, that the gasping, wheezing economy would just get on with its long-awaited collapse, that...
Nope... yeah I am surprised - it's a bit of a mad thing to say to be fair! Like saying your hair will turn into cotton, or your eyeballs will turn into glue!

Haha I like the way Ermintrude described it too. Obviously a pound of muscle does not weigh more than a pound of fat - I don't think anyone actually believes otherwise?!
You would just get a huge blob of fat for your lb whereas you'd only get a scrap of muscle by comparison for the...
Well done, that's very impressive! What are the parameters you have to stay within to be classed as having stayed at target for such a long time? Presumably you don't have to stay *exactly* at target, to the lb, every week for a year?! :)

I've never had false nails as I'm quite lucky that mine have always been very strong and grow quickly into a nice shape. Also I much prefer the look of natural nails to garish plastic ones.

I've never heard of these kits - do they send them out to a certain "high risk" demographic? Either way I think it's fantastic, how wonderful that the NHS have the resources and initiative to do things like this in order to catch these things early.
I hope your dad makes a full and speedy recovery.

Totally... around 80% of my clothes are size 10-12s that I've not fitted into for roughly 3.5 years. Although I was brutal at one point last year when I was running out of wardrobe/drawer space and ruthlessly threw away all of the skinniest items. Shame as I remember having some lovely things...
I think you're right that the FG's dresses are a bit too young for a 12 year old - she's probably just started highschool and desperately wants to be seen as a grown up and would likely be a bit gutted to be put in a kid's dress whilst all the older BMs are sauntering around in that gorgeous...

By all rights they should be fining these yank wannabes for not putting any cups in their cupcakes! (and using too much icing) ;-)
I'm veggie and do the Extra Easy, as I'm new and that's all my C told me about. But lots of people here have said I should try green. EE has been okay for me so far, but I would like to try green when I understand a bit more about how it works in comparison to EE.
Yay, glad to see someone still calls them "fairy cakes"!!! "Cupcakes" my eye - bloody Americanos!
Yep I think the only way to do it would be to syn every ingredient and divide by 12, sadly.

Just tidying up my bedroom and noticed the bottle of diet lemonade that I'd been drinking in between glasses of wine last night (and feeling rather saintly about may I add!!) was not diet lemonade at all, it was the full fat variety! It must have been on the wrong shelf in the supermarket :-(...

Butternut squash, asparagus, sugarsnap peas and tenderstem broccoli, steamed in microwave

I have been having 5 of these a day for my hex b, I just spread philly light on them or cottage cheese if I've already had hex a.
I also had a couple this morning with LF fromage frais and sliced strawberries on top, sprinkled with a bit of splenda.
Awww it's okay! Four bottles sounds like a lot but when you think about it, that's 3L of wine. 3 litres divided by 7 days is 428.5 ml per day. Which by my calculations, works out at precisely 14.69 syns per day. So you're still on track! Yay!
(Yes, I've thought long and hard about syns in...

One thing I'm curious about though (I am a SW newb so I'm just learning), doesn't 2 bottles of wine plus a 250ml glass add up to almost 60 syns - isn't that way too much for one weekend? Do you do your syns differently, like half your weekly syns at the...
But I thought WW was even more restrictive - i.e. everything has to be weighed and measured and eaten in set quantities? How does that help if you have a large appetite?

Hello!! I'm doing extra easy and as well as bread and cereals, my list of Hex Bs include dried, canned and cooked fruit, oil and huge list of soups - so plenty to choose from that is GF!
I think you might also be able to have oatibix for a cereal fix, not sure though?
Not sure if this has been mentioned before/elsewhere but I just wanted to say that Aldi currently have Kettlebells in 3 different sizes (I think they are 2.5kg, 5kg and 7kg, not sure though), less than a tenner each, bargain!

Most of the gorgeous old country pubs around here are for sale now... I'd so love to buy one with a massive beer garden and make it wonderful.

- Tasty...
Haha I know what you mean, but on a Friday I always like to make sure I have ALL my syns available for wine!! A bit OCD I know but it's just how I am - I want that extra tablespoon goddamn it!!
I looooove slimline tonic but agree it's maddening that they never sell diet lemonade, as diet lemonade is my non-alcoholic drink of choice when I'm really thirsty. I guess Coke and Diet Coke are just a lot more popular.
Can't stand the stuff myself.
By the way I'm sooo looking forward to beer garden weather! I WILL be able to idle away long afternoons in said beer gardens and sip pinot grigio whilst wearing a size 10 T-shirt this time round!
Awwww really? I demolished the best part of a tub this morning with some scan bran but was hoping to save all my syns for a few drinkies tonight!!
Ah well, I guess a little 1/2 syn can't hurt! I'll be sure to buy the pesto and pepper one next time though!!
I often wondered how my food intake on SW would work out in terms of calories.
I do think I eat a hell of a lot more than what you've written there, though: add a few punnets of raspberries/blackberries/blueberries, a couple of apples, a banana, a fat-free yogurt, about a ton of vegetables...
I'm afraid most cordials in pubs are the fully leaded (i.e. copious amounts of sugar) variety.
God knows why as it just seems a ludicrous waste of calories/syns for the sake of a bit of blackcurrant or lime flavour. And it's not like the sugar-free varieties are any more expensive or difficult...
Could anyone please tell me if this needs to be synned, or if it's free? For some reason it's not showing on the website but all the others are :-(

Very glad to hear this - I just bought a pack of 4 last night feeling 99% sure they'd be free, but they're not listed on the SW website thing yet so I wasn't sure!
They are very tasty, and no gelatine! :bliss:
I think you're meant to have at least 5 syns a day, so I think it's probably best you have at least those 5 every day.
But I don't see why you couldn't save the remaining 10 syns a day for your night out, that would leave you with 60 to play with. I don't know if this is part of the official...
Goodness I've never weighed pasta, I just make sure there's a ton of veggies mixed in (usually more veggies than pasta, I <3 veggies!) and then eat til I feel full.
It also doesn't help that most fabrics are now mixed with a large proportion of Lycra. I guess once upon a time the fabric didn't give or stretch at all, so a size 12 MEANT a size 12 and there was no getting away from the measurement of the cut.
But in our age of elastane I can shove on pretty...
Horrible isn't it!
I buy most of my clothes from M&S just because their clothes are so easy to wear - generally flattering, comfy (read: stretchy) and suitable for work (God, how old and boring do I sound... I'm only 28, honest!!). I don't like to have to put too much thought into my clothes in...
Whoops, I've just demolished a tin of chickpeas (not roasted!) with a salad for lunch, I didn't realise I'd just consumed 300 calories in chickpeas alone! Bloody hell!
Yes I agree, and clothes sizes still are officially based on the 1950s model, but it seems that 99% of highstreet shops like to label their clothes 2 or even 3 sizes smaller than what they actually are.
Which means that at a 34" waist I was indeed an 18, but oddly I've always been somewhere...
I think if you're happy with your measurements, that's the important thing! As others have said, the extra weight might be muscle, which is great because the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn on a day-to-day basis :-)
The other thing is that I never trust the sizing in the normal...
Sorry if this is a really stupid question and has been asked before, but I'm confused about cooking with regards to fruit and veg.
As I understand it, cooked fruit has to be synned, but you can cook veg til your heart's content for free?
Why is this?
What makes it even more confusing is that...
Nooooooo!! I'm totally sending them an email to express my disgust!
I bought an apple and mango one today from Tesco which is still the old recipe (53 cals/100g and no yellow thing to say it's got not artificial sweetners) - so I might go and stock up the fridge tomorrow!
This is pants.
Oh goodness I've just found out that dry white is actually 1/2 a syn less per 125ml than ordinary red!! That means I can have... well, still a maximum of 3 per day, but it leaves a bit extra room for other naughties...
Ooooh I'd love to know the syns for this too! Although it is slightly lower alcohol I do have a sneaking suspicion that it might have to be synned the same as any other white...
Some really helpful suggestions here - I'm spending ££££s every other day on blueberries, blackberries, raspberries etc. that I snack on throughout the day... now to try and make some room in the freezer
Thanks for the advice Choccy. Haha yes I know why I gained in my first week - the day after I started my mum and auntie came to visit for a girle long weekend, which meant lots of wine and meals out. Having only just found out about SW I wasn't really sure about anything re: syns, HExs, and all...
Thank you... I'm just worried because both of the 2 days I was away I managed to slightly over-syn (only by a couple of syns, but still...) because of lack of choice and DAMN British Airways always offering me free drinks from the bar!!
And so this extra day due to missing flights etc now means...
Totally. I typically se around 80-90% of my syns on wine alone; sometimes 100%, like for example last Friday when I had a whole 3 x 125ml glasses (13.5 syns)!!
Not bad, considering before SW I'd usually think nothing of necking a whole bottle to myself on a Friday night whilst wallowing in a...

I feel exactly the same. This is my second week on the plan, (although I did mess up my first week due to a visit from my mum and auntie = girly weekend = tons of wine and rich food), and although I've been 100% on-track ever since my initial "blip", I feel as though I've never stopped eating...

Oh FFS! Just checked again and you're right - gelatine. How did I miss that before?! I'm such an idiot, and having been veggie for 15 years, I used to be so meticulous in checking labels!

Vanilla cupcake, you're absolutely right, I really could not be bothered! Most of my meals consist of 80-90% superfrees anyway with a bit of normal free food to go with it (Quorn roast, for example).
It sounds almost as though you're criticising - it's...
:sigh:
Hello all. I just started SW last week, had a 1/2 lb gain in my first week due to a combination of not really understanding "synning" and all the Hex stuff and also a visit from my mum last weekend where we went out every night for food and wine - I really didn't know how to deal with...
Very good point. Speaking just for myself, I was a complete idiot at that age (albeit a slim one...).
She was a little kid when her problems began - given condensed milk instead of breast/bottle mik as a baby, and then allowed to eat double portions of fish and chips when older!
Yes she was...
Thanks so much for all of your really helpful replies!!
I think I might go to the class tomorrow morning and see how it feels! And then maybe look into the Kettleworx DVD - it sounds like a lot of people are doing this! Or maybe Kettlercise depending on how tomorrow goes :-)
How often do you...
Hi Kettle-belles :D,
Inspired by the "secret to shaping up" thread about kettlebells, I bought my own last weekend. Now all 5kg of it have arrived, I have to admit I don't really know what to do with it!
Would you recomomend I try some of the basic moves using an instruction video on...

I have my porridge as soon as I roll out of bed... it may mean a long wait til my next one but I'm always really hungry at that point and it is the highlight of my morning
You can do it, but it will be hard.
When I first tried it, I would have said that I was in OK-ish condition, as I walk a mile or two every day with the dog and enjoy cycling every now and then etc. And the first time I did it, it damned nearly killed me. And I couldn't do most of the strength...
Where can you buy Gold Spot from? I did a quick search for it and although many online shops seem to stock it, it doesn't seem to be available in Boots
As far as I know, milk is a no-no on SS due to the additional calories, but you are allowed a small allowance on SS+.
I don't like tea with milk but I did used to enjoy a squeeze of lemon and a sweetener in my black tea which I miss (can't have lemon either).
Have you tried any of the...
Really? I haven't seen her in anything in ages, I didn't know she had been on LL and would be interesting to see how her figure has changed!

Yes - I love to have the same foods regularly. Although I do love trying new foods and am not afraid to order something different at a restaurant, at the same time I do feel comforted by having the same foods/meals over and over when I am at home, I very rarely get bored of eating the same thing...
I'm doing SS+, usually having my 3 food packs plus an egg, a couple of asparagus tips and a little low-fat cottage cheese most days. Losses have been pretty consistent with SS.
Hi there,
Does anyone know if cottage cheese with chives is okay on SS+? I much prefer it to the plain variety and I like to add a few more sprinkles of herbs and spices in addition. Is this acceptable? Does anyone know if there are any rules/limitations to the herbs and spices we can have on...
I've had dry skin on this diet, which is something I've never suffered from before in my life. my lips got so dry at one point that they bled! And I drink between 2 and 4 litres of water a day, so definitely getting enough fluids.
I found Palmer's Chocolate and Peppermint lip butter worked...
Week 6 here and I never got the energy :(
I am exhausted, lethargic and grumpy 100% of the time I'm afraid, and I doubt it will change until I come back off.
Just grin and bear it through the first few days - these are the most exciting days but also in some ways the hardest! Let your excitement about finally being on the right track to being slim and gorgeous carry you through... and when you do struggle, come here and let us know!
Meh... I use boiling water to mix all of my soups and shakes (I have everything hot) and then let it cool for 5 minutes or so before slowly sipping... I know it says not to do that but I'm still here :)
I wonder about this too... but the way I see it, this is my choice, I've made it, and I will bloody well stick with it! So many people I see say that their downfall and the reason they do no succeed is because they jump from one diet plan to the next after the initial buzz and excitement of the...
I've always had my coffee black so no change for me, but I like:
Sainsbury's Gold (Decaf)
Dowe Egbert's Gold
Carte Noir
I do prefer to buy the fair trade ones when I can but still haven't found one I really like :(

Vanilla shake, Toffee and Walnut shake, Butterscotch shake, Strawberry shake, and Cappuccino shake are my favourites!!! I have all of my shakes hot (made with 1/2 pint boiling water), and sip them slowly from one of my Jamie Oliver wine glasses!
I have a maple and pecan porridge every morning...
I find with Next the bottoms are too big and the top are too small!! I can usually get away with buying trousers in a size smaller than usual in Next, but I can't buy any tops with buttons from there as they just gape and pull at the boobs, otherwise I have to buy 2-3 dress sizes bigger than...
Thanks so much GoreyGirl.
That thread is exactly what I needed. I am seriously confused about the "2 tablespoons" of veg though - how on earth do you measure 2 tablespoons of asparagus?
Hi everyone,
Well I'm almost at Week 6 now, and really starting to struggle with SS for some reason. I really feel like I need to move on to real food again, it is driving me mental. :banghead:
I will talk to my CDC about moving onto SS plus when I see her next, which will be a week on...
I think it definitely does get easier after Day 4, when you're fully in ketosis and the worst of the hunger pangs have gone.
However, that is not to say you never get hunger pangs again! I get them every so often (about every week or so), and have to eat cheese!! And once I've had a wedge of...
Blue Stilton... Saint Agur... Cheddar... Brie... Double Gloucester... Edam... Port Salut... Camembert... Reblochon... Gouda... Applewood... Leerdammer...
I could go on.
It is confusing because there are 2 types of calorie - the "small" or "gram" calorie which is only ever really used in scientific measurements, and the "large" or "kilocalorie" (Kcal), which is the calorie that we are familiar with from nutrition information, diets etc.
One kilocalorie is...
Wow, I'm amazed that so many people are considering a boob job when they lose weight!!!
I have another 2 stone to lose to get to goal but don't care if I remain a C cup or if I go down to a AA - at least if I lose the weight on my boobs for once in my life I will be able to buy shirts...
I never heard of any of this before - I have a BMI of just over 25 and I intend to stick to SS until I reach goal (just under another 2 stone to go) - my CDC has never said that this may be a problem - why should it be?
Ooooh I love my soups! I love the Oriental Chilli one - I always shove a sneaky shake of cumin powder and paprika in it to give it an extra bit of oomph! I've also just tried the Leek and Potato one - I think that one has become my favourite. And the vegetable one is okay, but I do find that one...
Hehe yes I feel the same, now that I am slowly edging towards goal, I'm terrified that I will eventually get the weight back! In many ways, I'd actually rather stay on the diet for the rest of forever just to make sure that doesn't happen! But I know that is silly and what I have learned from...
My update is missing too for the second time in less than 24 hours... I'm not sure people are using the last post when they copy/paste :(

1. What day and time do you have your WI? Wednesday 09:30
2. Do you go to your CDC's house or do they come to you/why? I go to hers, not really sure why, I didn't ask as I just figured this was normal, but she does have a lovely house with her own nice cosy office where everything is kept so...
For the last few weeks I have been so incredibly sensitive about everything... silly things just make me totally enrage  and then I get upset that I was so angry, still angry at everyone else but more angry with myself for being so bloody sensitive!
How can I control this beast...

Don't worry, we know it feels awful when we feel we've "cheated" and we all know how hard the first couple of days are! Stay strong, keep drinking, and before you know it you'll be into day three and four and then you won't feel the hunger anymore! x
So 15 days into the diet and I've crumbled - this afternoon I was desperate for something, so I had my last shake early, drank more water and it didn't fill the gap, so I had a big chunk of stilton cheese :break_diet:
And just now I felt the same and ate a big chunk of cheddar. *sigh* I...
Awww that's such a shame - like Vanilla said why don't you try one of the less expensive versions of Cambridge Diet like Exante (£25 a week I think?).
For me, £39 a week - or £1.90 per meal, is quite a bit less than I would otherwise have spent on food and wine etc. - are you sure it doesn't...
I've just got some Soap and Glory "The Firminator" cream as part of my birthday treats from my other half - I've just put it on after having a bath and WOW it feels cold and tingly! Smells a bit like mint, a bit like eucalyptus - lovely! It says to use twice daily and I should see results after...
Wow, that's surprising! On the plus side, at least you don't have to remember a new bra size whenever you go shopping ;)
I've got a broad back and shoulders and I don't think that will change either, or if it does it will be marginal. My mum has a broad back too even though she's been a size...
Just been for my birthday weigh-in... what better present than a 4 lb weight loss!
And by the time I next see my CDC I should be below 10st!
Yay!!
*giggle* There was me thinking this was a thread about some new yummy southern-style food dressing we were allowed on CD... Oh the disappointment!
I agree with Jayelle - as you're sailing through the SSing at the moment I think it would be a good idea to stick with it for the time being and...
Is it just me or does this programme seem hugely... contrived?? And gimmicky to the point of ridiculous
All of those "dramatic" build-ups to weigh-in times, the emotional music that changes when something sad/happy/exciting is happening... the way the numbers on the scales slowly...
Hi Minirog, I'm the exact same way, I use 1.5 kg hand weights and the only bits I reeeeally struggle with are the push-ups (can't finish either set of reps even doing the "girly" or half push-ups on my knees) and those horrible things where you have to lunge to the side and bring the weights up...
I have the same problem :(
As far as I know the only vegetarian gelatin substitute is Vege-Gel, which I doubt we can have on CD because it is made from sugar. Oh well, I guess we will just have to sit this one out :wave_cry:
Last night I dreamed I ate loads of those chocolate coins you get at Christmas - and then loads of Haribo! I don't even eat Haribo because I'm vegetarian...
Needless to say I felt terrible, until I woke up ;)
Wow, does that mean that Level 1 is comfortable for you now after only a week? This is Day 4 for me and Level 1 is still a killer, can't imagine moving up a level for at least a few weeks!
Wow well done! That's really good especially considering the 2 days early AND totm! Little bit saddened though that we no longer have the same WI day ;)
What a gorgeous figure! Teeny waist and boobs to die for! Haha what I would do for a figure like that!
Beautiful dress too - what is it may I ask - size 8 / 10?
Haha, no, actually it was on Countryfile last night, they were selling it in Guernsey in these little roadside honesty boxes, it looked amazing *drool*! I'm just a massive vegetable fiend, asparagus and mushrooms are my 2 favourite foods!
Every night I keep dreaming that I have messed up my diet and feel awful! Last night I dreamed that I had to meet my other half in a curry house and I ate some poppadoms and some asparagus (??!) and then I dreamed I ate some more stuff and felt so bad.
And then, I wake up and... BIG...
Most people seem to lose a stone in a month on this diet, or slightly more, if they follow 100%. I'd say 2 stone in 6 weeks maybe slightly optimistic, but only very slightly. I'd give it 8 or 9 weeks just to avoid disappointment ;)
This looks fab - I was wondering about a vegetarian version, using Vege-Gel instead of pork/beef gelatin. But Vege-Gel contains Dextrose (sugar) as a main ingredient so I doubt it would be allowed on CD =(
Oooh it's always so hard going from long to short! You're so used to being able to do anything with long hair, plaits, ponytails, curls... then all of a sudden POOF it's gone! But it's so nice, and your head will feel a lot lighter too haha! I too always had long hair, but I now find shorter...
Is redbush tea flavoured with vanilla ok on Cambridge? I know you're only supposed to have "leafy" teas, and I guess vanilla is not all that leafy... but it's so delicious and really helping me with my water intake! And it's not exactly fruity... can anyone help?
Edit: to be specific, it is...
What an incredible story, I've just read from start to finish, BIG congratulations on all of your losses and I will be rooting for you for those measly last few!
Have your pics gone, I can't see any? :(
I read somewhere that chewing gum can stimulate excess stomach acid and lead to you feeling very hungry as a result - not sure if this is true but I won't risk it!
I think it's between 2-4 days usually.
According to Wikipedia, it kicks in "after about 48 hours".
To be honest, I didn't even notice it, the only difference I saw was that I was no longer feeling hunger.
I like it. I do feel that is is an acquired taste though, and I put a sweetener in mine to liven it up a bit. Definitely, as Peppermint says, don't brew it too strong or too long as it will go horribly bitter.
I think so - it's only leaves afterall.
I'm pretty sure tea made from leaves is fine but not the fruit ones.
Edit: which has just reminded me, I've been drinking green tea blended with mandarin, which I've just realised is probably naughty!! *slap wrist*
Apologies if there is already a thread about this - I just wondered if soda water is okay whilst SSing? I know sparkling water is fine - is there any difference between that and soda water? I wondered if maybe there is citric acid or something in soda water which might make it off-limits and...
Hi there,
Does anyone know how to update these tickers? I used the ticker factory ones briefly and that all seemed so simple, you click the thing and it takes you straight to the page to update it, but I can't seem to find anything on the weight-loss-center.net website that would allow you...
