Can't afford to continue CD.. what now? PLEASE HELP ME

P.S. Don't tell her I told you, but Pippa's doing really well. We went to a party last night and the pub tonight and she didn't bat an eyelid. I would have folded within 5 minutes :D My friend is starting SS tomorrow, I'll point her in the direction of this forum.

Can't afford to continue CD.. what now? PLEASE HELP ME

I did read it before you deleted it. I think you raised some good points, and nutrition is a fine balance. For instance, vitamin supplements aren't always what they appear to be. Just because a product contains 100% RDA of a vitamin doesn't necessarily mean that it will be fully absorbed by the...

Can't afford to continue CD.. what now? PLEASE HELP ME

Fair enough, I wasn't criticising the CD whatsoever. As a perfectly engineered system to put the body into ketosis and keep it healthy it works very well, indeed I recommended it to a friend just the other day. It wasn't for me, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work for a lot of people. I do...

Can't afford to continue CD.. what now? PLEASE HELP ME

CD isn't rocket science, its just low carb, low fat food. If you count the calories, the weight will come off marginally quicker, but the important thing is to not have too many carbs in order to stay in ketosis. If you buy food that is low carb (most animal products except milk, leafy salad)...

So sick of doing this now :(

Like being rude to strangers on the internet? Glad I was able to help :p I wasn't implying that you stuff food into your face, just that if I had been tempted to do so, that is when I would have asked for support. You don't have to justify to me your reasons for wanting to lose weight, but I...

So sick of doing this now :(

Just a quick note for Mini: I don't seem to be able to reply to your PM for some reason but thanks for answering my question about reintroducing carbs, I'll follow it to the letter.

So sick of doing this now :(

I don't know who complained, but since I quoted you in my reply, it is still available for everyone to read. I'm sorry your lovely diet isn't for me but hey, everyone's different. The amount of discomfort experienced on the journey into ketosis is also affected by the lifestyle of the person. I...

So sick of doing this now :(

Firstly, let me say that it is very easy to insult somebody whilst hiding behind a computer screen. You don't know me, and my relationship is none of your business. I have no Idea why you think that I am patronising Pippa. Rather than moan about not being the weight she would like, she's...

So sick of doing this now :(

I'm suffering because I have felt very ill for the last five days. If you read my original post in this thread, you'll find a day by day description of exactly how I am suffering. I am aware of the extra calories making a difference, but I am well and truly in ketosis (pink ketostix, bad...

So sick of doing this now :(

Well, it's just a simple case of whether the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. Sure, I'd like to lose my beer gut, but there is only so much suffering that I am willing to tolerate in order to do so. So far I have managed to convince myself that it is worth it, so I have stuck to the plan. But...

So sick of doing this now :(

Thanks everyone :D I have actually been supplementing with a few hundred calories of no carb foods (cheese and turkey breast) so I am doing something more similar to 790 or 1000, the only difference being that I have been doing it throughout the day rather than in one meal. I feel ok at the...

That's funny, I noticed Wispas in a shop today too. I hadn't noticed they were missing until I saw one and did a double take :D

So sick of doing this now :(

I weighed myself this evening and I am 200.2lb, exactly the same as I was when I started on sunday. Since I started four days ago, I haven't had one day when I felt ok or normal. Sunday: severe hunger, alarming weakness Monday: same as Sunday but worse, period of extreme malaise lasting about...

Um, that should have been '13 days', not '3 days'....

    Alcohol...

Ok, well I didn't think that anyway but thanks for clearing it up :) As to the weight loss in the first week, I think that's probably right. Each gram of glycogen also retains 2.7g of water (I don't know where the 4x thing came from) so on average that would be around 3lb that is lost due to...

CD, a great way to give up smoking?!

I have found that now I have 'ketone breath' it has made cigarettes taste horrible! I don't think I'll try giving up just yet though, ketosis and nicotine withdrawal wouldn't be a pleasant combination :D My friend once got some mouthwash purported to help give up smoking. You swished it round...

I can't stand the soups either, to me they are just like milky water :( I like the shakes though, and I love the malt toffee bars :D

    Indegestion - burning

I can't offer an explanation, but I can offer a solution. I often get terrible heartburn, to the extent that I ended up having to see a cardiologist, as the symptoms can mimic a heart attack! Things like Rennie can make it worse in the long term because your stomach makes even more acid to...

    why protein?

Makes sense. I read that until 10000 years ago when humans developed agriculture, we were largely carnivorous, with carbs coming only from plant matter that was foraged. Considering that 10000 years is practically nothing in evolutionary terms, we are currently eating a diet that is totally...

    Alcohol...

Well I did consider no carb drinks until I read the terrifying sticky about alcohol on this forum  I'm going to read a bit more about JUDDD, sounds interesting. My two friends do a bit of a weird diet. They eat what they like on saturdays, but for the rest of the week they eat food with...

    Alcohol...

Hmm. According to this site: Bodybuilding.com - Derek Beast Charlebois - Carbohydrate Metabolism! the body stores around 300g of glycogen in the muscles and 100g in the liver give or take. A quick conversion to imperial gives 14.1 oz, or 0.88lb for 400g of glycogen. Unless there's something...

    Alcohol...

Ah, I see. Well actually that's pretty much ok :D I have been putting on well under 7lb a year, which according to a TV programme I saw recently is about 1/2 a chocolate biscuit a day. I'd rather get 1/2 a stone a year lighter by doing Cambridge for a fortnight than mess around watching what I...

    Alcohol...

Hmm, well this is the second time I have been in ketosis (I tried atkins a few years ago) and I don't think I'd mind doing it once a year. It seems to happen pretty quick for me and it's only two days after all... I'm sure I read on the Cambridge website about putting the weight back on and it...

    Alcohol...

Hi everyone, Pippa's bf James here (I finally got an account instead of hijacking hers :D) I decided to do the Cambridge diet for 13 days. The reason? well, I started on sunday, I will miss one weekend, then I will stop on the following friday so I can go out on the saturday. The problem is...
