SW seems more popular at the moment than WW. Does anyone else agree?

I am still sticking with ww discover, but a lot of friends couldn't cope with the new pro points system and left to join sw.

    Old Points Scheme !

I don't care what they call it, all I know is that I am back on the old system and losing the weight I put on during my brief try with propoints. Good luck with the weight loss everyone.

just cant get my head into it

Hello Sarah, I do hope you find this encouraging. Many months ago I could have written that post, but I did get back on track, stuck with points, and now I have been at goal for a whole year. You can do it, and you can keep it off, you proved that you have the determination already. Absolutely...

    Hi- From a re-starter

:0clapper:That's a brilliant start, well done. I'm with you on the pro points, lots of people seem to have stayed the same or actually gained on it. I think it seems to work for some, not all. Stick to what suits you and just look at the results, 5 whole pounds nearer goal, keep up the good work.

    Help!!! Im really struggling!!

Thanks to everyone who has posted on here, I am struggling too, and I have found loads of good ideas to get remotivated. I have been struggling to get back since putting weight on at Christmas, but can't seem to get my brain in gear. I kept a pair of trousers I wore when I was at my heaviest...

    Using Discover in secret...

Absolutely agree with Star, stick to what suits you but let the rest enjoy whatever system suits them. My class is about half & half, so although there is some discussion on propoints, general exercise and weight loss topics are basically the same principles and we get as much support from one...

    Another ww'er member leaving propoints

The group I go to has at least half of us still on points, some have decided to stay with what we know, the rest have given pro points a try & not lost or found it too confusing. Only 2 of us are brave enough to admit this to the leader, but the support we get from each other is great, and...

Going to have to leave WW

Have you thought about staying with WW but continuing with the Discover plan? If you have the books, calculator etc from before you can carry on pointing and still have the support of the group. In the group where I go a lot of us are still pointing, and a lot of pro pointers have gone back to...

    New to WW

Hello Niamh, welcome to ww discover, we are a friendly bunch so drop in any time. The support & encouragement I have found in mimimins is great, lots of ideas and recipes too, and you are so right about the yummy butternut squash soup.

    plan while maintaining WI

When I reached goal I was told it takes about six weekes to finally work out the right number of points to maintain, with lots of tweaking on the way. Only 1 pound is nothing, just look at how many you lost, keep up the good work.:0clapper:
  14. P

    hey im a newbie

:wave_cry: Hello and welcome, we are a friendly bunch and the support on here is great. I am sticking to discover as that's what got me to goal, it worked for me and I'm sure it will for you too.
  15. P

Can you still do the 'old' points system?

Yes, it is still possible to stay with discover, if you look in the sub forums you will find some of us still there on the Weightwatchers Discover forum (There are still discover points & recipe forums too) For me, I am at goal and happy to stay with what has worked. Others prefer the familiar...

    Weightwatcher magazine still discover points

:bliss::bliss: The new magazine still has food & recipes pointed using discover points. Not sure how long that will continue, I expected to be converting anything nice from pro points, so really pleased to have things familiar for a while longer.

Convincing myself I like Pepsi Max

If you have left over diet coke/pepsi you can always use it to make the diet coke chocolate cake (recipe in discover recipes forum). Sounds delish, will be trying it this weekend for my visitors. I shall enjoy the comments of 'should you be eating chocolate cake?' :D
  18. P

    GOAL

Congratulations, what an achievement. I know how much hard work and determination it takes to lose like that, well done! :winner:
  19. P

    Start on Saturday

I shall still be going to meetings, despite staying with the discover plan. For me it's not just the weigh in, it's the support & encouragement from the other members, the handy hints - not just about points, about food in general - and the visit to the coffee shop afterwards :D
  20. P

    anyone else??

No, you are not alone, and I suspect once people realise there is a Discover sub forum we will have quite a few on here. For those of us at goal or nearly at goal it makes more sense to stick with it for now.
  21. P

sticking to this plan while maintaining

I am at goal too, and with all the recipe books, points calculator etc I have already it would be an unneccessary expense to start all over again. I plan to maintain using what I know has worked for me.

Hey Sucette, the person who lost that 9 pounds was YOU, not your leader, however good she is. It was your determination and effort, just keep that the same even if a leader or a system changes and the great start you have made will continue. We are all wondering what the changes will be like...

    Weightwatchers - Changing ??

    Lots to lose...

Hello swizzlestickfairy - I love your name! I started out with 6.5 stone to lose and have actually done it, it took just over a year. I stuck to the plan, it was hard but I really needed to lose the weight for health reasons (and because I lusted after size 12 jeans :D) It is so worth it...
  33. P

What are your reasons for losing weight?

Lots of reasons, but highest on the list is that nothing feels as good as getting into size 12 jeans. After that - high blood pressure, wanting not to feel embarrassed on a plane when I have to adjust the belt to the widest fitting, being able to do a short walk without puffing and panting. Like...

    Slow weight loss

My goal weight was lower than ww leader suggested, maybe they like to play safe. In the end we agreed on a weight in the middle. Yes, it sometimes goes slower and it is very frustrating. The last stone seems to take forever, but if you keep at it, eventually it goes, honest. Even half a...

Is it possible to lose 2lb a week up till Christmas??

I agree with the others, a pound a week would be a great goal. If you aim at 2 a week and only make 1 any week you will end up feeling depressed, but if the aim is 1 and on some weeks you lose 2, you'll be feeling so encouraged you'll be more likely to stay on track. Good luck with it, hope your...

    Dried broth mix

Can't find that in any of my books, but individually lentils, split peas etc are half a point for a heaped tablespoon when cooked. If the bag has a calories & saturated fat figure you can work it out with a points calculator (if you don't have one of those, put the numbers on here and I'll do...
  49. P

    Points help please

It's the amount of saturated fat you need to be able to work out points, not just the fat. According to my points book, a 30g piece of a Munchies Bar is 3 points. A quarter of a large bag at 38g is 4 points, while 2 individual Mumchies are .5, but who could stop at 2? Not me!

Candyloss that was a brilliant post and so true. We can all recognise that part of ourselves that makes us feel undeserving, wanting to beat ourselves up for the least slip up, but as you say we are not bad people. What sometimes helps me is to think 'What would I say to someone else in this...

    Mixed Results

Your weight loss so far has been amazing, so don't let this blip put you off. As we all know, weight tends to change according to time of day, or even day by day, so would it help to only weigh yourself once a week at the same time on the same scales? I know how it feels to get on scales one day...

    Helping others??

It's OK helping a bit now, but you have to look at this long term. Will you still want responsibility for each of them in the months ahead, especially if more of them want to join in? It could involve a lot of hard work for you, and if they are friends now, would they stay that way when they are...

    missing sweets

A Kellogs Winder is only 1 point, and you can make it last a while with practice. Snack size bag of Skittles 1.5, Tootie Frooties, half bag, 1.5 or a whole bag of Jelly Tots 2 Also WW do a range of boiled sweets, lots of flavours, but not sure whether they are sold in shops or only in meetings.

what do you eat on WI day?

The group I go to meets in the morning, and afterwards a whole lot of us go for coffee and cake. It's our treat for being so good if we have lost, and a cheer up if we haven't. Helps us all to feel naughty without wrecking the days points allowance too badly, and something we all look forward to.
  71. P

    Help!! Salad cream??

This might be a slightly bonkers way of working it out, but giving the kids Calpol always involved a 5ml teaspoon, so your points for 15 ml can be divided by 3. Hope that helps, enjoy the sarnies,
