    The journey continues!

Thanks Lil :) As I'm feeling stressed / pressured, I think my old 'black/white' thinking is coming out again. I seem to be slipping into old bad habits far too easily, and thinking of 'good' days and 'bad' days again. I'm starting to see how destructive this thinking is again, and trying to spot...

Life is just so busy at the moment, I'm not losing many pounds (but also not putting them on! hurrah :) ) Work nonsense continues... but need to find a way not to let the negative feelings there result in my eating stacks of comfort food. I'm really excited, having won the Exante prize, and...

I think one of the problems I have is that there are an awful lt of foods that I'm allergic to or intolerant to. The safest foods for me, without setting off my asthma are meat, fish, veg, dairy, cheese. When I go near the carbs (particularly the grains) my asthma starts to get worse, but I get...

Another good day. I tried out the spaghetti bolognaise one, and thought it was pretty good. It feels nice to have a more 'food' like, warm pack for a change. (Quite relieved, as I'd bought the bumper pack of hot packs, on the off chance they were OK!) I think I'm still in a bit of an argument...

    I just can't do this :-(

If your bmi really is 21.3, you should be following the Working Solution or Simple Solution where you have some more food in each day anyway. It's important to focus on your goals and what really matters to you about losing the weight.

Nice work Ali :) I'm still wobbling (I've got to get back to my 6 (soon), 7 & 8 balloons first... but I will get there. I think it's been adapting to my new lifestyle, with a lot of study in the evenings and I've been nibbling. I've just recently worked out the chewing gum strategy, and it's...

Blue's going from flab to fab in 2012

You're doing really well blue. This diet is such a roller coaster. If you're anything like me, I find my emotions seem a bit more exaggerated on this. Having one day off - will it do major damage?

Indeed, I was really strict until my birthday in January. Having one day off - will it do major damage?

I totally agree GSQ, the meal itself is not the problem. It's that you've given yourself license to eat something, and it is then soooooooo much harder restricting yourself to the 3 packs again. Anyone going for a new look?

I was going to wait until I'd lost all the weight before changing my hair, but then decided a couple of weeks ago that I'd waited long enough, so I had about 8 inches chopped off and went for a much shorter bob. I'm really pleased with it. It's exciting having the confidence to just go for it :)

Making progress on the essay, and hanging on to the diet by a small thread... must drink more water, more water :)
  108. cybill

    Do you think....

Also, are you a girl or a guy, as guys tend to get faster losses than the ladies. When I first started my bmi was 45, but it only took me 2 weeks to lose 18lbs - but this does seem to be different for everyone - and I had a lot to lose! But as you've lost 10lbs already, it doesn't sound unrealistic.

I'm with you there, I've lost the 100; but it's the next bit I'm finding really hard - it's a different motivation needed. Somehow it was 'easier' running away from that really large number; I'm finding it hard to be really focused to get this last bit out the way. Glad to hear you've got to...

I'm feeling really cross with myself, really binged on chocolate & biscuits this morning (all in the name of essay procrastination - so doubly unhelpful, in that I've not made so much progress on the essay and I've eaten loads of chocolate & biscuits that I went and bought from the co-op.)...

Exante flavourings are about 3g carb per teaspoon, so 1-2 tsp a day should be fine - but you probably can't have every bit of water you drink flavoured with it! (Other VLCD flavourings use aspartame for the sweetener and are more like 0.03g carb per tsp, so you can have as much as you like...

It should probably carry a warning for your bank balance too! This clothes shopping lark can get expensive! I've now gone from size 28 this time last year to size 14-16. Keep focused on your goal and you can achieve it :)

    45 mile cycle ride

Ah, I hadn't thought of cheeses, that's a really good idea. Some mini baby bels, or those cheese strings, they would be easy to carry in my ruck sack. I'll be taking 3 litres of water with me, as I know I need to drink a lot! I think there will be places I can refill en route as well, if I need...

the downside of losing weight - clothes!

I've been trying to make clothes last a few sizes, as I wouldn't have been able to afford a new wardrobe for all the sizes I've been through (size 28 originally and now size 14-16). I find safety pins & belts have been my saviour! And the clearance rails in the supermarkets - I managed to pick...

    Total Solution Starting at 268...

Hope you have a good weekend Kez. Try not to use it as an excuse to eat loads of other stuff too, you're doing so well and some sausage casserole isn't going to affect your losses too much. It sounds like you've got a lot on your plate at the moment; hope all goes well as you find your focus...

    Andie Pandie's Diary

I find the diary really helpful, and other people can see things we can't see ourselves. I've just put this on LMP's diary too. I've found this article really helpful, as it addresses exactly the situation you're in, when you find you're close to goal and losing some motivation. Hopefully...

    I'm in shock :(

I'm really sorry that you got STS this morning; that must be so disheartening after first week back and being so focused all week. As the others say, I'm sure you're hideous TOTM will not be helping, the weight will be moving. Try and stay focused and strong, and know that next week you will see...

    Gaga's Bulging Epic Battle......

Hi ladyg, A few years ago I had to go under anaesthetic to have my wisdom teeth extracted. I was about 20 stone at the time and it all went perfectly fine. I'm sure it will be OK - and good that the anaesthetist didn't even want to see you. It's great that some of the clothes fit you, even if...

That's fantastic, I'm so glad to see you back in the zone. 3 weeks back on TS is a great achievement, you can do this! :):)

    The journey continues!

Thanks Cathy :) I nearly went to buy a new notebook; but then remembered I had a nice one in the cupboard that I've not used. I'm so excited to be getting started, although it does feel a bit strange, and I think it will take a bit of getting used to studying again. I've even got my first...

    100 days at 100% for a slim christmas 2011

Day 2 done, 98 to go :) I totally agree with you, it's amazing to be able to choose the clothes I really like! I was wearing a new Tesco outfit today, and had loads of comments on it - I know it's because I could now pick exactly the style and colour that I know suits me. It's brilliant :)

    45 mile cycle ride

Hello, I'm doing a 45 mile sponsored cycle ride on Sunday, for the Princes Trust, from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle. In my training over the summer I've been doing working solution (or just plain off track!) However, I'm back on TS this week, and wondering what I should do to help me get...

Day 2 back on track again this week, and I'm really looking forward to my cycle ride on Sunday! I'm slightly nervous about it, but also really excited to think that I will achieve this goal :) Also, seeking advice - I've put this on the main forum too. When I'm doing this 45 mile sponsored...

That's great news that they're happy with your bmi and you can get started. That's a fantastic reward for all the work you've put in so far to get your weight down :) Hope all goes well xxx

*JenJen's* Back on the wagon before I'm ofski to Australia!!!

Welcome back Jen. I'm really glad to hear things went well with the op. Jumping straight back to food must have been really hard - WS sounds like a really good plan now to help you lose the weight but still give your body a chance to recover - 6lbs in 2 days is fantastic! Hope you continue to...

Wow, it's been a busy few days, and now preparing for my cycle ride on Sunday - can't believe I'm nearly there now. I'll be cycling 45 miles from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle. I just hope the forecast rain goes somewhere else! Sorry I've not been on anyone's diaries; hopefully I'll get...

    Soup therapy!

Have you tried adapting any of the other soups by adding other herbs & spices - particularly the mushroom should be able to be adapted to be closer in taste to the vegetable? Or could you mix a vegetable soup packet with a mushroom soup, to make two mushroom & vegetable soups?

    Question about life post Exante

If you lose 2 stone, the amount of calories you'll need to maintain will be less than it is at the moment. If you want to stay eating the same calories you would need to increase your exercise after losing 2 stone - because your BMR will have reduced as your weight will be lower.

    The journey continues!

Ordered two more sets of packs, which will take me through into November.... by which time I will be a healthy weight! Exciting to think this could be my last order!!!

Total Solution Anniegolightly whose not so light...not YET!

You're doing really well Annie; we all hit walls sometimes. I found it a big shock finding that I'm actually in the overweight category... having been obese for so long, made me wobble a lot. Try and stay focused on why you're doing this; you can do it. Hope you can break through this wall.
  233. cybill

    Flavourings instead of water

The Exante flavourings are good, but fairly high in carbs, so use with care. The other vlcds do water flavourings that are much, much lower in carbs, so you could have as much as you like. Low Calorie squashes usually contain citric acid, which can knock some people out of ketosis. There's a...

    Gaga's Bulging Epic Battle......

I would think low GI would work well, so long as you don't try and scrimp calories too much as well; it's really just lots of healthier foods. Hopefully that will help your body heal well too. Glad to hear you feeling a bit brighter today, and have fun choosing the car!

    The journey continues!

I know what you mean; it was 24 years ago that I was even this weight! I don't remember being less than 12 stone; presumably when I was a kid. Can't wait to get there now, and get my 10 balloons :D

    Blue's exante journey

For me I reckon it's about a stone a size; as you're a little shorter, it's probably a little less than that; so in theory, if you stuck with TS, you could lose 7 stone by then, which would take you down 7 sizes - so possibly all the way down to a 10! (Although I don't know if it works totally...

    Gaga's Bulging Epic Battle......

Hi ladyg; it's heartbreaking to read your post. I'm so sorry to hear that it was such difficult news today. I don't have any personal experience of the general anaesthetic issue; but I think they recommend several months away from the really low calorie stuff, as you really want your body...

You're doing really well Jim. If you're anything like me, other people will be able to see the change in you and in your photos long before you can really see it / believe it yourself. whats wrong with me

Hi Honey, It sounds like you're going through a lot of the normal emotions around eating and doing a diet like this one. I've found the Beck Diet Solution book really helpful in specifically targeting a lot of the things you mention, like cravings etc; I'd really recommend it to help support...

    To the Experienced Exante/vlcd dieters

The question for you is whether you can do just one meal and get straight back on it, or if it will become an excuse for a day, a weekend, a week, a month.... etc (I know for me, I find it difficult once I start eating more normal stuff to restrict it to just one meal, and that's when it starts...
