    Extra Easy Horrified with myself

Lindsay, I have stop posting on here as much due to the unsupportive comments I see going on. Nobody deserves the "witch hunt" you have had, I was actually disgusted at the replies. I will say that the majority of people on here are lovely so try not let it get to you. Well done so far.....keep...

    Sugar free yoghurt?

Fructose is natural in fruit but in yogurts the "fruit" is so processed that the fructose levels would be higher. Best bet, 0% Greek yogurt and chopped fresh fruit xx

Extra Easy Days Argh! Completly off target!

8 pounds off is fab! Damage limitation this time of year and I swear by exercise. It means if (sorry when) I overindulge, I know I won't feel so bad as I have exercised. Plus the cold weather makes me want to work up a sweat! :) So perhaps try adding some exercise. You never want to eat...

Slimming world & the Gym ?!

Gazter :D thank you! On my facebook there was a girl who was saying my muscles are just scary and it made me feel as if I wasn't feminine and kinda put me on a downer. I am the most feminine girl out there but if I was going to lose this weight I wanted more than just weight loss, I wanted to...

Slimming world & the Gym ?!

Here is a pic of me to help anyone with motivation and worries about the gym. 5 months gym, 4-5 days per week, lifting heavy and varied workouts. I have lost inches and am still a stone and a half to my target weight but I already feel I look much more toned. I have adjusted the contrast in the...

Slimming world & the Gym ?!

Yeah the pain is normal, the more your fitness increases, the less sore you will be. I lift heavy weights and hardly get sore now, bit tight, bit tense, but no pain now. I do think everyone is different though regarding the weight loss. I always lose every week and I do 5 days, so might be more...

Slimming world & the Gym ?!

I think this helps prove what I have tried to do all along my weight loss journey, that exercise (and this goes for everyone), is 80% what you put in your mouth. I follow SW completely but a lot of people don't realise that if you eat large amounts of carbs and do an hour's exercise a day, you...

They still say I need to lose another 2 1/2 stone... But what are the benefits?

I think, give it say 5 years and medical professionals will scrap the BMI scale. It is completely inaccurate. Go with what you are comfortable with. As long as you are eating healthy, watching salt intake, lowering stress levels and exercising, then you are well on your way to a happy healthy...

Yeah I love all the food I shouldn't and moderation for me seems pointless. Like I don't see the point in one biscuit or one glass of wine, so I don't do it. XMAS PARTIES AND OUTFITS

Yeah really small, however I'm a size 14 and the dress I bought fits fine, but there is no way a 14 in some of the other dresses would fit. I read reviews that some people who are a size 8, were having to go to a size 12. I think trying on is your best bet if you fancy one, just in case xx

    Christmas

I'm with family this year so just gonna try my best to eat less and take my own alcohol as my glass always gets topped up with wine, so if I take bacardi, it will help. O'Leary is actually very clever....it's marketing of a highly successful low cost airline. He makes comments which hit headlines. A real Jobsworth

I have probably flown with Ryanair over 60 times in the last year and have been delayed twice. Never had any issues and although yes some staff can be a bit rude, the airline has been a godsend to me. Ryanair have some of the best pilots in the UK purely due to the amount of short journeys...

Green Days can slimming world work with excercise?

Hey anytime - It is very much mind over matter though. You have enough carbs in fruit and veg to sustain a workout, you just have to get out of that way of thinking that you need pasta etc. And it's only one meal. Positive thinking! :D Let me know how you get on xx

  37. S

Green Days can slimming world work with excercise?

No probs. Your fruit and veg have carbs to but life would be even more boring without them! It may feel strange to have meals minus the starchy carbs but veg itself can be really filling (if made interesting ) :) I really like roasted veg, things like fennel, carrots, red onion, peppers...
  38. S

Green Days can slimming world work with excercise?

Yip as Jezzi says up the protein and cut out carbs for at least one meal. Best thing to do is have carbs after your workout, so if you workout during the day, have carbs then (always wholewheat if possible), white carbs do nothing productive imo. But try to eat as much protein as you can...

    I need to rant......

    A moan about tasters!

I agree with the group being what you make it and it is always good when everyone participates, but when it comes to weight loss you have such a mixed bag of people. It's not like you are all attending a structured group, for example, a french lesson or a yoga class in which you follow a set of...

    A moan about tasters!

No nerves touched here, everyone is entitled to an opinion. If you don't want to go to all the effort to cook for a taster session, don't, plain and simple. Although we all like a moan (gossip ;) ) now and again, you posted so you need to take the positive/negative posts as they were intended...
  45. S

    A moan about tasters!

I do get the frustration if it's the same people every week, but this sounds like another reason for folk to have a good old gossip about people ;) If you take food to taster sessions it's because you want to share with other people, not to judge others who haven't. Personally it's the giving...

    gym makes it worse??

Roughly 80% of a good exercise regime is what you put in your mouth, so might be an idea to see if your eating habits change whilst exercising (you never know, it could be something simple that you don't realise) - otherwise water may be the problem, so paradoxically you need to up your water...
  48. S

    gym makes it worse??

You say awful gains, how much are we talking? Exercise may, depending on the person, cause a small gain to start and possibly as you up your water intake, but certainly not drastically (I exercise like crazy 5 days per week and have never gained), so you might need to look closely at all the...

Slimming world portion control - I've found what the problem for me with Extra Easy

I am usually 80-100g dry pasta, 60g rice, potatoes I don't measure. I eat until I'm full and sometimes I leave food on my plate. If it helps, I changed to wholewheat pasta/brown rice over two years ago and this has naturally made me eat less as I think it fills you a bit more. xx

Do you treat yourself weigh in night?

I think the bottom line is, we are all different and we will all lose when we find what strategy works best for us. If using 70 syns after weigh-in works then so be it. My strategy so far has been, always make your own takeaway (always tastes better). I eat out once a week, but always in a...

Do you treat yourself weigh in night?

I weigh on Wednesdays so don't feel the need for a treat as for me I prefer that on weekends. I usually have a nice treat-type day on Saturday within syns, so some wine and meal out. So really, if my weigh day was Saturday I would! :) xx

Original Pah, what am i doing wrong?

I wouldn't worry too much about the slow loss. Give SW a few weeks and if you still feel that the losses aren't quite what you had hoped, then think about another plan as SW isn't for everyone. Your losses are good though and keep plodding on. Don't worry about certain comments as you can't...

    Why isn't a loss happening?

Got to disagree above (sorry!) :) Using weights burns fat for up to 48 hours after exercise and therefore should be used as part of your workout plan. Yes muscles hold water, but not to that extent, also muscles are smaller density wise therefore will replace the bulky fat. What do you want...

Do i look any different as i dont see it

You do look slimmer and it looks more like it has come off all over rather than from one place. This is maybe why you can't quite see it yourself. You are doing great, no-one ever really sees their weight loss until other people mention it. Don't be disheartened!! You're looking fab! xx

The problem with protein shakes is that your diet has to be pretty clean to get the benefit. Stefanie's Food Diary - Extra Easy

Well after a very slow start, I am rejoining sw tonight at class. I need the extra incentive as I am slowly heading back to my old ways and it is so depressing. Class is at 7.30pm so will update and start a new sw food diary tomorrow morning. I WILL do this, I WILL, I WILL!!! :)

Halfway and in a Summer Dress YIPPEE!!

Not been on much, but thank you so much. I have been a bit bad the last 3 months, but I'm happy to say I'm back exercising and eating well. Thanks for the love, it really helps xx

Bikini bodies - where will you be taking yours????

I have been lucky enough to enjoy Melbourne, Wellington, Singapore and Dubai these last few months - but am really looking forward to a beach holiday somewhere in the French Polynesian possibly, although good old Cabanas in Portugal is amazing for beaches xx

    Any use webcams/video calling/skype?

If your computer is reasonably new it will have a build-in sound card and speaker port (back of machine, possibly green port), so yes if you plug in headphones it will work. A beeping noise doesn't mean it has speakers, that could just be the internal speaker used at OS level xx

    Help me please..

No, it's best leave it as it is and don't mention it - if she accepted a referral fee that is her business. If she wants to discuss with you, then that's fine, but I'd stay out of it unless you have a very good friendship xx

    Too much exercising?

I much prefer to be outdoors too and try to do that as much as possible, but I go mainly for the weights as you can't really do that outside, unless you do what some people do here and that's weights in the park/beach :) I'm glad to be now lifting 17.5kgs free weights, but it has been 9 weeks of...

    Australia

My mum teaches secondary school English and loves her job but hates the way education is going...too many rules, paperwork and unruly kids and not enough time to deal with the kids that genuinely want to learn. Plus although she knows education has to move with the times, but submitting homework...

    Australia

I'm in the same boat, 6 months here, 6 in Ireland...although heading back next week into the winter boo! Me and hubby own a IT Consultancy business so been lucky to travel everywhere - looking forward to coming back, although I would probably choose Perth next time (sorry to hijack lol) xx

    Too much exercising?

Ive been living in a hotel for the past 4 months and the gym is in-house so has been much easier :) but before that I used to just force myself to take an hour out - used to walk around 3 miles a day and do 30 day shred when I couldn't commit to a gym. I don't have kids but I can see how...
  204. S

    Too much exercising?

Another good idea is to do high intensity interval training - I do this on the treadmill everyday which is usually 3 minute fast paced walk (speed 5.5), then jog/run for 3 minutes (speed 7.8-8) and keep going like that for however long you feel. I tend to do 45 minutes. I have seen very good...
  205. S

    Too much exercising?

Looks good but try to incorporate some weight training too - even give up 15 min cardio for weights - squats with weights is ideal for fat burn as you are using two of the biggest muscles. But honestly, don't worry too much about it, you are going in the right direction, give it a few weeks...

Where do you do your food shopping

    Unthoughtful people!

Wow....let's vent lol. Personally someone said earlier in this post about it being a place to vent...that's what Laura did. A lot of what people say on here can be taken the wrong way. I didn't see anything wrong with Laura's Derby post, I thought she pushed it with the intelligent on your...

    Too much exercising?

What is it with negative friends....jeez. You are exercising, pushing oxygen to the most oxygen hungry muscle in your body, your heart, therefore you are doing one of the best things you can do daily for your health. Well done and keep it up...oh and if you feel like doing 2 hours a day...

Down In The Dumps & Need A Bit Of Friendly Encouragement

Sorry things are so unhappy at the moment but it's times like this you need to dig deep into the very person you are and make a change. I usually top a baked potato with it - mix the cottage cheese with bacon, sweetcorn and chives...lovely :) Or if you liked eggs, you can make the sw quiche which is cottage cheese mixed with eggs, add bacon, onions etc and then bake in the oven. Or even just topped on a salad for lunch. xx

BF Msgs to girl on fb

I think you already knew deep down what you were going to do and I sincerely hope it does work out for you - just don't let your low self-esteem make you a doormat or completely blind to what's going on because you "love him". Also, 3 pounds is fab - well done xx

BF Msgs to girl on fb

This may sound harsh...so sorry but I would ditch him. He is obviously looking for either a bit of fun or a way out. If a man/woman wanted to cheat, they will cheat, Facebook or not - Facebook has settings to choose if you wish to be found or not, so if you don't use the settings, you leave...

    The Carb Debate

Ooh I can't get my head around wholewheat pasta in salad or without a sauce either, but in everything else yes :) Yeah it's definitely a cost thing too and the government should be doing more to reduce the prices of these things....how is it refined carbs are so cheap? As with all foods that we...
  216. S

    The Carb Debate

Only restrict them if you feel you want to. Or replace them with complex carbs instead. You really don't notice the difference between wholewheat pasta and white, same with rice - brown basmati is lovely xx
  217. S

    The Carb Debate

That's the beauty of sw, you can eat until comfortable and still lose weight, be it carbs, fruit and veg. I still see the same losses from restricting my carbs as I did when I didn't, so the plan does work regardless. Thats why this healthy eating plan is way more effective than any others I...
  218. S

    The Carb Debate

Yeah most definitely eat as much fruit and veg as possible, if that is what works for you then by all means. I follow sw, have done for over a year (with break due to moving) and I find it the easiest plan to follow ever. I wouldn't go back to anything else now. Sw says eat unlimited free and...
  219. S

    The Carb Debate

Yeah Jaylou, I'm certainly a lot more mindful of every aspect. Only eat 2 pieces of fruit per day and try to stick to ones that don't have a lot more sugar, same goes for fats etc. Obviously anyone new to the sw plan or who hasn't been on it long shouldn't really make too much of it, but I...
  220. S

    The Carb Debate

Yeah exactly PatchWorkPuss, if you stick to complex it's much better for your overall health - I think it's just wise to be mindful of exactly how much carbs you eat in general. Only refined carbs have a bad name and I believe they have led to a huge obesity epidemic (more so than fat intake)...
  221. S

    The Carb Debate

Now I love sw and think its a great healthy eating plan for life. As we all incorporate our own principles whilst on the plan, I just wondered about the carb intake. The unlimited carbs on sw, I know is more a psychological element, but do have concerns myself about the amount of carbs we eat...

    The evils of BREAD!

Without a doubt weights, as heavy as you can manage - I see too many women doing 20-30 reps with 1-2kg weights which, let's be honest, isn't as effective as you may think. Try 3 sets of 10, 8, 6 of 8kgs+ each arm with various exercises and push yourself and make those arms work! In 5 weeks I...

    New iphone5 v Android v Blackberry?
