    Slimming world online members

I did WW briefly last year and their app is fantastic. I was so disappointed with the SW online services when I joined last week. It's good to be able to search for syn values, but that's about it. The food diary is clunky at best. I would go to meetings, but it would mean sacrificing one of...

    Where am I going wrong?

You need to aim for 1/3 of your plate as Superfree. From what you have put on there, you are eating 3 large, high carb meals a day. Although they are free foods, not having 1/3rd superfree is allowing you to fill your plate with higher calorie foods. I don't always have 1/3 superfree with my...

What food do you take to work?

Today I have a banana and Muller Greek yoghurt for breakfast, a Weetabix Oaty bar (HexB), home-made Chickpea Dahl loaf with salad for lunch (and some M&S sour cream dip - about 5 syns, but so worth it!) and a Mullerlight yoghurt. Oh, and some strawberries. I went through a phase of eating pasta...

Weight back on after stopping - how quick?

I have been back eating carbs since Sunday, although I am following Slimming World again. How quickly do your glycogen stores fill up again? When should I expect to see a weight gain? I weighed myself this morning and I am still the same weight as I was on Sunday? Thanks xx

    The superfree debate...............

Totally agree. I think you just have see what suits you. I can see that the 1/3 superfree is an excellent idea if you tend to eat huge portions - I don't, so my plate is never overfilled with pasta etc. I also don't snack on things like Mug shots - I tend to eat fruit, or maybe use the odd...

    The superfree debate...............

Your consultant is wrong - eating fruit after a meal can actually hinder digestion! Whilst this may not be the case for everyone, there is no evidence that it helps digestion at all.
  9. R

    The superfree debate...............

Totally agree. I do extra easy, but sometimes I don't have 1/3 superfree and I don't stress about it. Some meals just don't suit having it, and I'm not going to eat fruit for the sake of it! To be fair, I don't have huge portions of anything anyway, so over-eating in that respect isn't an...

    Eggs?

I have 2 large eggs. And I usually have a little more than 100g of protein. I figure it's better to do that and stay on plan, than deprive myself and end up eating rubbish. I'm aware it may slightly slow my losses, but I can live with that.

3 packs, 1 bar and protein

It's better to go a few calories over and stay in ketosis than risk blowing it altogether! I had a real wobble earlier this week, and decided that if I was to stay on track, I needed a proper meal in the evening. I am now doing 3 packs and a a salad with protein meal. The recommended protein...

Any other new starters this week?

Day 9 today. Have had a few wobbly moments. Yesterday I was all ready to jack it in! The shakes are now less tasty than I thought they were, and I cannot stomach the meal packs at the mo. I have started having 3 packs with protein and salad in the evening and this is keeping me a bit saner...

    Low Carb salad dressings?

After a week I can't face the prospect of another meal pack with veg for dinner. So I'm going to have 3 packs a day, and then a protein and salad combo for dinner. Is there anything I can have on the salad? I don't mind taking in a few extra calories, but I don't want to kick myself out of...

    Feeling depressed :-(

I started on Exante early last year, right at the height of my depression. I didn't realise how bad it was at the time though. Over the 2 weeks I was on it, I spiralled right down, and it resulted in me seeking further help from my doctor, and my meds were increased and I was referred for...

    Extra Easy Confused...

I just see so many posts saying you MUST have 1/3 superfree with every meal, and it must be daunting and off-putting for newbies. I just try to balance out my superfree through the day. My breakfast is always 1/2 superfree, and msot of the time my lunch is. I eat a lot of chilli's and curries...

  34. R

    Extra Easy Confused...

The idea of having the 1/3 superfree is so that you don't eat as much. So if you are eating the fruit whilst it's cooking to fill you up, and you are having a smaller portion because of it, then fine, but otherwise, eating the fruit would just mean consuming extra calories. When I did SW...

    50 shades of grey books

The sex scenes didn't shock me at all - I found them laughable to be honest. Certainly didn't take it seriously - just found it uninteresting! I should add though that I don't really read "chick-lit" and generally read crime novels. I'm currently reading the Hunger games trilogy and loving it.
  37. R

    50 shades of grey books

I'm not a book snob at all, and can read trash happily (loved the Twilight books) but 50 shades just bored me. By the end of the first book, nothing had really happened! I like a book that offers something to get your teeth into, but 50 shades is as dull as dishwater to me!
  38. R

    50 shades of grey books

  62. R

    Really struggling !!!

I rarely have 1/3 superfree with my evening meal, and I'm still losing weight every week. However, I do snack on fruit, my breakfast is mainly fruit, and usually lunch is about 50% Superfree.

  64. R

    So discouraged !

I felt the same, but have had consistent losses every week since I started, even over the last 2 weeks when Ive had a couple of blips! But theres no need to be hungry at all. I've had bigger losses on Slimming World than when I was on WW - and I was starving all the time on WW!
  65. R

    Slimming World Chips

Try cooking them for longer. I think it depends on your oven. I do mine at 200 degrees for about 40 minutes, and lots of Frylight! I par-boil them for 4 minutes. I also agree about potato variety - I find Maris Piper to be best.

Good luck! I was also a former WW'er, but just couldn't get back into it after the change to ProPoints. I'd always poo-poo'd SW in the past, but I take back everything i say - it's the easiest diet I have done, and I'm loving it! My tip would be to try and eat as many free foods as you can...

How do you not feel deprived?

I'm an ex-WW'er, and I feel far less deprived on SW!! I only started last Friday, but I like to save my syns. I don't really use any during the day at all, and then I have a chocolate bar after my dinner. I had a whole Crunchie last night, and it stops me feeling deprived at all. Today I...

    What have you just eaten??

I've just had 2 slices of ham, a hard boiled egg, some cottage cheeses and a salad. Followed by a Shape yoghurt!

    Smoked haddock Pilaf

I cooked this recipe before I started Slimming World, but I have found that it's perfect for Extra Easy too! This is from "The Good Cook" on the BBC. The recipe below is in it's original form, but since starting slimming world, I have reduced the butter content to 2 teaspoons of Lurpack...

Can someone explain green and red days to me ??!!

I was always put off SW because of having to take lunches to work, but it's actually pretty easy. Today, I had left over Vegetable pakoras (recipe online), home made dip made from yoghurt with mint sauce, and a load of salad amd pickled red cabbage. It was lovely! I'm going to make up some...

I'm New To MiniMins - Hello!

I've only just started, but I'm another one who saves most of her syns! I always have Alpen light bars (as a HEX) during the day to sort out ant sweet cravings, and then use my syns in the evening. I like to have something sweet after dinner, so at the moment I'm having either a Curly Wurly...

    All things Boob-related

I would rather not lose weight from my boobs - I love them as they are now! I'm currently a 36DD - have always been a 34 back, but had to admit defeat recently on that one! Mine have ranged from 34D through to what I am now - I suspect when I'm down to my first goal of 10st I will be around a...

Statistics - What size are you at what weight?

I'm 5' 4", weight 12 stone, and I'm a size 14-16. I could fit into 14 bottoms if it wasn't for my tummy where I carry most of my weight. At the moment size 14 tops can be clingy, but I refuse to buy a size 16 top! My first target is to get to 10 stone - that will put me at a 12-14.

    Superfree foods

Thank-you - just found the advanced search, and found a thread that answered my question! Apologies from the newbie!! :booboo:

    Superfree foods

I did try that, but it brought up every post with the word superfree in it.

    Question about online tools

    Thank-you - I totally missed that!!
  124. R

    Superfree foods

Another question from a newbie! I'm following extra easy, and I'm still a little confused about the 1/3 superfree foods rule. For example, if i wanted to have ham, egg and chips for dinner, I wouldn't really want to have salad with that. So if I had some fruit afterwards, would that still...

    Question about online tools

I went to my first class last night, and have registered on the website. It allowed me to enter my starting weight, but not my goal weight - am I missing something??
  126. R

    Not much to loose

Oh I'll definitely stay to group - I have done WW before, and did much better when I went to meetings.
  127. R

    Not much to loose

I'm starting tonight, and I have about 2 stone to lose.

Alpen light bars and *ahem* wind....

I have yet to start Slimming World (first meeting tomorrow!) but have read a lot about about Alpen light bars as healthy extras. I normally have cereal bars for breakfast during the week at work, so these would be useful, but when I've tried these in the past, they have given me terrible wind...

Anyone in the 11 stone bracket want support to get down to the 10s?

When I read that, I'm very hopeful I can succeed on SW. That sounds like a lot of yummy food!
  130. R

Anyone in the 11 stone bracket want support to get down to the 10s?

I'm going to my first slimming world meeting on Thursday - currently weigh 11s 9lbs, although I think the official weigh-in will be more when I'm fully clothed! My goal is 10 stone, although the top end of the 9 stones would be even better!
  131. R

New to Slimming World.. need advice

I'm also a WW convert - going to my first Slimming World meeting this week. I know there's bits of Slimming World I will struggle with, but the new WW Pro-points just doesn't suit me.
  132. R

    Newbie moving from WW

Hi Everyone, I have dabbled in a few different diets over the years, but have had the most success with WW. However, since it changed to ProPoints, I have struggled to get back into it, and feel like I need a change. I am at my heaviest ever, and want to get back into my clothes - about 50% of...

Just ordered some ASDA own and BL bars...

Had an Asda Strawberry and yogurt bar this morning, and that was yummy aswell! Does anyone know how the BL and Asda shakes compare to Exante?
  134. R

Just ordered some ASDA own and BL bars...

I know - they taste very indulgent don't they? Shame they are still expensive though. :( I got mine from Tesco who them on offer for £1.50 each, but the normal price is about the same as Exante bars. I think I will pop in Asda tonight and get some of their ones.
  135. R

Just ordered some ASDA own and BL bars...

I'm currently eating a BL choc crunch bar, and it's lovely! Much better than the Exante bars!
  136. R

    Think I'm coming back....

It only took me 2 days, and I didn't really get any side effects either, so I was pretty lucky! Everybody's different.
  137. R

    Think I'm coming back....

My meds have been upped now, so I'm feeling much better than I did a few weeks back. I'm hoping I can cope better with it this time - I found the diet itself pretty easy, so if I can get over the effects on my mood, it's a winner for me!
  138. R

    Think I'm coming back....

I did almost 3 weeks on Exante recently, but found that it made my depression worse. I have started on Weight Watchers again, but I'm really struggling with it. I am thinking of trying Exante again - my mood is a little more stable than it was, so I'm going to see how I go, and if I feel it...
  139. R

    Upset

I suffer with depression, and I have to say that after 2 weeks on Exante, mine got a lot worse, to the point that I could no longer think straight at all. I have had to have my meds increased now. I'm back on WW now, and I have gained a couple of pounds back, but it's really not worth risking...
  140. R

Back to Weight Watchers for me :0(

Thanks all. I always knew there was a risk of it making my moods worse, but my head was really starting to feel scrambled! Feeling better now, but I'm definitely not finding WW so easy!
  141. R

    Back for another go!

So I'm going to give Pro-points another go after failing at the start of the year. I've been doing Exante for a few weeks, and have mangaged to shift 9lbs, but it was not good for my depression, so I need to go back to eating proper food. I have lost on Weight Watchers previously, so I...

Back to Weight Watchers for me :0(

After 3 weeks on Exante, I'm going back to Weight Watchers. I have had to face facts - the diet was making my depression much worse, and after having my medication increased last week, I realised that I really do need to eat properly. Thankfully, I am already thinking with a clearer head now...
  143. R

    Found another flavoured water...

Sainsburys also do some still waters that are ok - Apple & Blackberry, Raspberry & Cranberry and Peach. I live on those, as I've started to hate the taste of plain water!

Total Solution How long do people last before they cheat...

Well I looked at the list on here and went by that. I know onions are a bit higher in carbs, but there's only a tiny amount in this salad. I have been having M&S sliced Mexican chicken which is delicious, and low in carbs aswell. Some of the other marinated ones they do are quite high - I...

Total Solution How long do people last before they cheat...

I cheat and buy the salad bowls from M&S - it has lettuce, cucumber, spring onion, radish and tomatoes with a chive dressing. I take the tomatoes out though. I then have some sliced chicken or ham with it.
  146. R

Total Solution How long do people last before they cheat...

Absolutely - I don't feel like I'm cheating by having a salad every night - it's just making it a lot easier to stick to for me. I will be cheating on Saturday though - my dad is coming down from Cumbria and taking all the family out to dinner - I'm going to go out and enjoy myself, as I know...

Total Solution How long do people last before they cheat...

I lasted 10 days on TS, and then got ill with a cold. I am back on plan now, but I'm adding in a chicken salad every night - I'm finding that a lot easier.
  148. R

    Exante Soups..

I still don't like the toffee nut bars or the tomato soup much, but everything else is OK.
  149. R

    Emma's Diary - starting 07.02.11

I have been off the diet for a few days as I've had an awful cold, and really needed some energy. Still managed to shed just under 4lbs last week though, so I'm pretty pleased. Back on the wagon today, but I'm going to be following working solution for a bit.
  150. R

    Exante Soups..

Tabasco sauce is my friend! ;)
  151. R

Oops - just had 2 sausages.

Oh dear - day 10 and it was all going so well. But I have a horrible cold, and really needed some proper food to warm me up - ended up eating 2 sausages. I know I will regret that tomorrow when I come out of ketosis

    Emma's Diary - starting 07.02.11

Well here we are at day 10, and I've had my first blip. :break_diet: I have a horrible cold, and have had a pretty stressful week (my depression has returned) and really needed something warm to make me feel better. So I just had 2 sausages. Feel bad, but I do feel physically better with...

Anyone else really struggle to eat?

Yes - I think thats it. When I had my chicken salad on Saturday night, I wasn't hungry, but still managed to eat it all. So maybe it's just the packs I'm struggling with!
  154. R

Anyone else really struggle to eat?

I know ketosis is mean't to curb your appetite, but I'm really struggling to eat anything! I've only just finished my bar that I started at 9am this morning! Is this normal - I see others posting about hunger, but I just don't fancy a thing!
  155. R

    Emma's Diary - starting 07.02.11

Yes - seeing as I don't have a huge amount to lose, I'm pleased with 7lbs.
  156. R

    Over-emotional??

Has anyone else found this? The last couple of days I have been incredibly over-emotional. I had a bit of an upset today, and I couldn't handle it - ended up coming home from work (telling them I felt ill) and having a really good cry. Although I have got a fair bit of stress in my life...

    Emma's Diary - starting 07.02.11

Well today was my first official weigh-in and I have lost 7lbs. :D Still not hungry - in fact I'm struggling to get the packs down now. Had a chicken salad on Saturday which was quite nice - everyone else had chinese takeaway - the only thing I had was a bit of duck! Feeling rather...
  158. R

    Emma's Diary - starting 07.02.11

Day 5 and I'm still not hungry! If it carries on like this it will be the easiest diet ever - I'm not sure how long it will last though!
  159. R

    And another meal out .....

I have been invited to my sisters for chinese at the weekend - Chinese is my fave! But I've told them not to order me anything - I'm taking chicken breast and a salad instead! Hoping I can stay this strong for the duration!!
  160. R

    Soup in a flask?

Oh thats a bummer. Guess I'll just have to take my bowl and whisk out with me! :D
  161. R

    Soup in a flask?

I'm out for the day on Saturday, and was wondering if it's possible to make up a soup before I go, and put it in a flask? Has anyone tried this, and what were the results like?
  162. R

    Dont you just wish....

Yep - my friend has done Lighter Life, and I always knocked it, but after 4 days on Exante, I take it all back!! I have been invited round to my sisters on Saturday night for Chinese - I have said yes, but will be taking a chicken breast and some salad with me! And I'm not even worried about...
  163. R

    Im thinking about starting Exante

I bought the weekly pack to start with, as I have never done a VLCD before, and wasn't sure if I could do it. However, my bumper pack has arrived today, so I'm now committed for at least another month. I'm loving this diet - I feel so good on it. The only thing I'm not keen on is the tomato...

The Bad Boy Of Minis Diary

Well done! I had to make some cup cakes the other night for my hubby to take into work for his birthday - it was hell, but I felt great for not giving in! I've just had my second pack aswell - I don't normally have my 3rd one until about 9pm. I have found that a sweet coffee is great for...

    WHAT CAN I DRINK?

Sainsburys do Fizzy Kiwi & Strawberry that only has malic acid, and they also do a couple of still waters that are OK - Peach and Raspberry & Cranberry.
  167. R

Is day 3 too early for Ketosis?

Thanks all. I definitely wasn't imagining it - I used a test strip first this morning and it confirmed it! :D
  168. R

    Ketosis

Thanks - thats a fab idea!
  169. R

    Ketosis

Yes - I'd never thought of it like that, but I think it will help keep me on track. Already looking forward to Saturday now! :D
  170. R

    Mandy....Day 9

Ooh - how exciting - can't wait to hear how it went! :D
  171. R

The Bad Boy Of Minis Diary

Good luck - you sound like you have the right attitude. I can't imagine what it's like to be faced with losing that much weight, so I wont pretend to understand, but I think with the support of this forum, anything is possible.
  172. R

    Ketosis

That sounds like a good idea. I was dreading the weekend, as Saturdays are usually curry night for us, but having read this, I think I may do a chicken salad for Saturday dinner only.
  173. R

Is day 3 too early for Ketosis?

Oh good - I'm so pleased! I can't believe how well I feel - I'd geared myself up for horrible headaches and tummy upsets, but so far all I've had was a tummy ache on the first night, and a bit of a muzzy head. The taste in my mouth is pretty horrid though!
  174. R

    Emma's Diary - starting 07.02.11

Yesterday I had a bad chocolate craving in the afternoon, but got through it with sweetened coffee! Today I have a metallic taste in my mouth, so I think I'm already going into ketosis.
  175. R

Is day 3 too early for Ketosis?

Oh no - no complaints - I was just wondering if maybe I was getting ahead of myself! But I think I must be heading that way - I'm very thirsty today aswell!
  176. R

Is day 3 too early for Ketosis?

Today is day 3, and I have woken up with a metallic taste in my mouth. Is it too early to be in Ketosis already??
  177. R

Any tips for getting past cravings?

I'm currently having a cup of coffee with 2 sweeteners - I don't usually drink much coffee, and when I do I don't have a lot of sugar, but I'm finding the sweet coffee taste is helping!
  178. R

Any tips for getting past cravings?

Well I'm on day 2, and all was going well until this afternoon - I REALLY fancy some chocolate! Don't worry - I haven't given in, but does anyone have any tips to get past the cravings?
  179. R

    Emma's Diary - starting 07.02.11

Well here we go on day 2! Quite enjoyed the choc orange bar for breakfast, and have a strawberry shake for lunch. Amazingly, I don't actually feel that hungry, but I'm feeling a bit light headed this morning, and have a mild headache.
  180. R

    Emma's Diary - starting 07.02.11

Well my tummy is growling now!! But as they say, no pain, no gain!
  181. R

    Tabasco sauce?

Thanks! Nice to know I can add some spice! :)
  182. R

    Tabasco sauce?

Does anyone know if this be added to the soups? I'm sure I've heard it's OK on Lighter life?
  183. R

    Emma's Diary - starting 07.02.11

Well day 1 has arrived! Had a toffee nut bar this morning (like eating dust!!) and I'm now having a vanilla shake - not bad at all, but could probably 2 with 2 sweetners instead of just 1. I only have about 2 stone to lose, so I really hope I can stick with this!
  184. R

    Toilet troubles

Ah - is Benefibre OK to use then? I have used that in the past, but wasn't sure if it was allowed.
  185. R

    Toilet troubles

Can you take this in capsule form?
  186. R

    Ordered my pack

I'm making the switch from WW aswell - I agree that it's too easy to pick! Good luck!
  187. R

    Skin breakout?

I hope I'm like you then, cause even at 37, I've still got bad skin!
  188. R

    Coke Zero?

Does anyone know about M&S diet cola? It only contains malic acid, but says it has apple and carrot extract and malted barley extract? Carbs are 0.5g per 500ml. ETA - scrap that - I've just read it properly and it also contains citric acid.

Can you do Exante for just a month?

Thanks everyone - I have ordered a weeks worth to start (in case I can't take it!), and if I manage that, I will order another months worth. Not starting until 7th Feb though, as I have some family gatherings before then!
  191. R

Can you do Exante for just a month?

Thanks - I have just seen on the website that they feature someone who only did it for a month, so it seems to be OK. I just don't seem to be able to get started, so this might be the push I need! :)

Can you do Exante for just a month?

I have been a yo-yo dieter for the past 6 years, and I'm now at the heaviest I've ever been. I normally do Weight Watchers, but I'm struggling with Pro-points, and really need a kick start. Can you do Exante for just a month? I only have around 2 stone to lose, and was thinking about trying...
