    Fed up!

Just wait till you have to throw the shorts away because they fall off you! I tried some clothes on too early and was disheartened and longed for the day I could get into them.....then I had to get rid as they were far too big! You'll get there!

    Doesn't it fly...

I couldn't believe how quickly the time went - was amazing! At the start I couldn't imagine doing it for more than a week, and yet there I was 21 weeks later just finishing it - and having not cheated even once!!

If you want choc, why not have a choc pack? Make a hot choc, a choc bar (by freezing it) or a choc muffin (in the microwave).

Bodies are strange things arent they?!?!

Yeah - I love RTM (and the diet as a whole). I actually feel like I am controlling food, rather than food controlling me - which is wonderful!

How much exercise should I do on abstinence

I exercised throughout as I'd always been active anyway. Gentle exercise like walking, pilates/yoga and swimming will be fine - just don't push yourself too much. Your body will tell you if it is having problems - just listen to it. Somedays I had more energy than others, so I tried to...

    I was wondering...

Buy a punnet of frozen blueberries (I get mine from Tesco) and suck on them in the evening - like lots of mini-sorbets and only 30cals per 100g - can't beat that!

    yogurt

I LOVE the Total 0% Greek Yog and get through tons of the stuff (am in week 12 now). Nutritionists also reckon that calcium in yogs helps the body metabolise fat more easily - so we're doing ourselves HUGE favours by eating it!

is 'fat' part of who you are?

It can be hard not being the fat one anymore - I still think I am at times....like when I go shopping I instinctively won't look at light colours as I still think I'm too fat to even consider them...... soI have to remind myself! I also find I hide from the camera still, until I suddenly...

Back to abstinence after talking to LL Counsellor

Good for you! You WILL get there in the end, and it sounds like you're taking the sensible approach. Have you tried reading GIllian Riley's "Eating Less - Say Goodbye to Overeating"? You can get it on Amazon and I found her argument and her practical tips for dealing with food addiction...

Has LL or any VLCD ever "not worked?"

I too thought that I ate pretty healthily - but then I was counting the WHOLE pizza I had, the HUGE portions of 'healthy' pasta and the far too regular bottle of wine/pint of cider. I always thought life was brutally cruel by making me fat when I ate so little and so healthily - but now that I...

    Contraception and weight gain???

Usually the effect of contraception (no matter how it is administered) is to make you feel hungrier. How you react to that hunger (ie choosing to eat or NOT eat) is then up to you. I came off the pill expecting to drastically drop weight, but I didn't. Give it a go, see how it makes you feel...

    Sweetners

Splenda is the best to buy as it doesn't have aspartame in. Tablets are fab - you can have powder once in RTM - it has a small amount of cal/carb in, hence why not good in abstinence - but FABULOUS after - about 0.2cals per tsp!
  19. Deb G

    Week 1 RtM

I'm up to about 1500 cals a day and still maintaining and losing. Slowly increasing mine now to see where my level is. My Basal Metabolic Rate based on 5ft6, age 34 and 117lbs is 1310 - that's what I have to eat everyday to just live (ie breathe!). Anything else I do (walking upstairs...

    Does anyone else think this?

If her measurements are right, then she is NOT a size zero. I have smaller waist and hips than her and I am an 8/10. Nowhere NEAR a UK 4/US 0! I'm also only 5lbs heavier than her, but 2 inches taller.
  21. Deb G

I've been reading a lot of horror stories...

If you're doing it yourself (rather than on a VLCD) are you getting all your nutrients? VLCDs work because they give your body all it needs on a small intake of cals. If you're just cutting out lots of things to make it the lowest cals you can, you could be in danger of hurting yourself! On...

    Foundation & Development

People have their heart and mind set on that 100 days and are then 'lost' at the end. Set yourself another target (ie your holiday, or 150 days, or a wedding) then focus on that like you did the 100 days. Development is less structured, so you might ask your LLC if you can join a new...

    Weigh in Week 8

Yes.....but you're averaging 3.75lbs a week. Tell me another diet that helps you lose that much!! Look at it as an average loss and you'll feel better - that's what I did when I had 0.8lb losses.
  24. Deb G

    Advice Please :D

Now I am on RTM I am spending about £100 a week on food (mainly cos its fresh fruit.....LOTS of!) so staying in abstinence is cheaper! I was spending this much on food before LL - but then it was pizzas, cider, wine, oven chips, crisps etc. I don't mind spending the money on BETTER food. In...

    Weight put on? whyy?

You can't POSSIBLY have put ON weight - it is just a fluctuation in your water levels. Ignore it and look forward to a better loss next week. If you look at my losses, sometimes I only lost 0.8, then the next week I'd have a big loss again - yet I did NOTHING different at all! If you've...

You can buy the 'Calorie Fat and Carb Bible 2008' from Amazon which lists everything - very useful. As far as low-carbing is concerned, what I will be doing is following the Low-Carb Veggie Diet. It starts on 20g a day for losing weight (well, I don't need to do that) then you can work your...

Like you, I've done countless diets countless times, but the only thing that changed this time was my head!! The counselling helps uyou understand your relationship with food and gives you practical methods of dealing with it. I'm in Week 8 of RTM now, and I've been putting all I've learned...

I'm in Week 8/9 at the moment, and got a call on Saturday from my LLC to say she has quit! Luckily I had stockpiled my bars and hot chocs (cos I live a long way away and was only weighing every couple of weeks anyway) so I will be fine for LL food - but its a bit of a pain!! 32. Deb G

RTM is not as easy as you think...

I'm not finding it TOO hard, but I do note down my cals everyday and anything I've earned through exercise. I'm only reintroducing low-carb foods, so maybe that's why I'm not hungry/craving and why my weight has stayed stable. Once I've finished (in Week 8 now) I'll just count my carbs and see...

Excersize on a VLCD? Good or bad

Walking will be fine. Avoid anything more strenuous, or anything involving lifting weights. If you find you're getting lightheaded or weak on your walks, then slow down or reduce the distance. BUt if you feel fine, then enjoy! A great way to lose weight and get fit.
  38. Deb G

    Week 22 (I think?) Gutted...

Look at some of my losses - 0.8lb!!!! I never cheated and exercised throughout - I would have been HAPPY with a whole pound!!! Remember - your body is not a machine, so you can't expect it to be the same each week. Calculate your average loss over the 20-odd weeks you've been doing it - then...

    What exercise do people take?

Generally its not a good idea to start doing exercise on a VLCD unless you're already pretty active - and you certainly don't want to be doing any weights! I did pilates throughout my SS on LL as well as my endurance riding. I ran a bit, and now I am eating again (I'm in RTM) I have upped my...

    Running - Good/bad??

I ran (and carried on competing at my long distance riding) throughout LL when I felt like I had enough energy (don't force it if you don't) and now I am in RTM I have upped my distances and pace. If you have always run, then carry on when you feel able to - but don't start anything new now...
  43. Deb G

    Week 3 RTM

Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries are all the lowest carb fruits you can get (pretty much!). Apples quite high cos very sugary (which is why you often get hungry after you've eaten an apple). Not sure about the others - but they aren't low-carb cos they're not on my list!!!
  44. Deb G

    THIGHS

I did SS with LL and we were told that with VLCD you tend to lose weight from the head down - and that was true for me and most in my group! Face, neck, boobs, waist, hips then finally legs!

    Week 3 RTM

Tried to answer on your PM - but as I don't have my book here with me, its a little hard to advise too much. Stick to 2-3 pieces of fruit a day and see how your body copes. Week 3 is often the week people put weight on cos they go mad eating TONS of fruit. It IS excellent for you - but it...

  47. Deb G

    OMG up so early.

Yep - the general lethargy disappears along with the weight and the carbs that can slow you down. However, as I have a horse to muck out, dogs to walk and a run to do, I get up at 5am anyway.....its just nice not to be so tired doing it!

struggling CD-er fighting with why I'm eating!

LL is great for re-defining your relationship with food. If you want to really boost that, buy "Eating Less" by Gillian Riley (from Amazon) as her writing complements the LL messages (she's often quoted on their DVDs). I KNOW its more expensive, but for me, the counselling and the RTM were...

    guess what......

It's great isn't it!!! On my last one, the nurse asked why I was doing a diet......then she read my notes and looked at my weight chart. She nearly fell off her chair - she couldn't get over it and went on and on about it for half an hour asking loads of questions!

    Struggling LighterLifer's

Well done you - what a lovely, honest post. Every day is a new day, and the first one in the rest of your life - so even if you don't make it 100% one day, see the next day as the one where you WILL do it! Once yo're on the wagon again you'll be fine - but its hard when you get into that...

    Your RTM experience...

No worries - I would DEFINITELY give it a go though, and see what you think! Certainly the 12 stages of reintroducing foods is essential, even if you ignore all the counselling. I only go once a fortnight now (as I have a 100mile round trip to get to meetings) and really I go just to catch up...

    Question about RTM

You set your target - you choose! Once you're happy with yourself and the way you look, you'll know! Remember that you will still lose weight in the first few weeks of RTM - so its perfectly fine to enter a little early (with a few pounds to go) if you want to!
  53. Deb G

    Your RTM experience...

YES - it DOES start with RTM! Afterall - losing weight is relatively easy when you've got strict rules to adhere to.....but once back in the world of food you've got the same problems you had last time....and look where that got us all....OVERWEIGHT! Its a chance to re-evaluate your...

    HELP!!!!

Can you not make the muffins and crisps instead? That's what a lot of people do. Alternatively, stick with it! I went through a whole week of almost gagging, but then my body (stomach and tastebuds) got used to it and I was fine after that!
  55. Deb G

    failure yet again!!

Put it behind you and move on. Just remember how you felt after you'd eaten (guilty, disappointed, annoyed, angry with yourself etc) and recall that memory when you're tempted in the future. In our LL counselling we 'fast forward' to 2 hours later and ask "Are you happy with the decision you...

    mmmmm tea!!!

I hate black tea, but got so used to black coffee on LL that when I put milk in it once in RTM, I didn't like it and went back to black! I DO enjoy my tea with milk now, but I use skimmed milk - which before I thought was digusting! Now I find it really creamy!!

    I'm so angry!

Ooh....don't you just LOVE the sabateours!!! My (overweight) female boss made comments about the size of my hips in one of my size 10 skirts (having lost about 5 stone at that point!). These kinds of comment say EVERYTHING about them and NOTHING about you! People get so upset at someone else...

I had this problem - the ever-changing wardrobe! I kept wearing my weigh-in clothes until my trousers fell down between car and door to LLC (VERY embarrassing) then kept taking ever-smaller leggings to wear (changing in the toilet) each weigh in. I thought I'd end up a size 12, so I bought...

How much could I realistically lose?

SS with LL they reckon about a stone a month - although I lost 4 stone in 3 months (stuck to it rigidly and I'm pretty active anyway). Aim for about a stone a month and you'll be about right. Also a fab way to keep yourself on track and motivated!

Sorry a bit of a personal question!

I've lost 6 stone and when I am stood up my skin looks perfectly flat (no one can believe it). When I bend forward, it does sag a little - but it should spring back within 12-18 months apparently. Keep drinking the water (even after you've finished) as this will help. Moisturiser will also...

Quorn IS processed, but we are not talking on the same scale as frozen pizza, oven chips, ready meals etc. It also has more protein and less fat than most meats, which makes it a fabulous weight loss food, no matter which diet you are doing, especially for vegetarians. As for the first...

No worries - I'm glad I can help others with some advice now I am through the worst of the weight loss saga, as others did when I was new to the diet. A lot of us LL'ers are very evangelical about the whole thing once they've gone through the diet, and its hard not to promote!!!!

    Exercise........

Whilst on VLCD you don't want to be doing too much exercise...certainly if you haven't done much prior to starting the diet. As your muscles have no glycogen in them, they are more likely to rip and tear, so avoid lifting heavy weights.

Eating Less by Gillian Riley is FABULOUS! Also - "Secrets of Thin People" by Dr Lizzie Kingsley puts it all into perspective and makes you realise that NO ONE is naturally thin......so we need to stop whinging and start making healthy choices! I read "Get off your fat arse and lose weight...

    A very important question.

If you think you can finish the diet, then go back to eating exactly as you did before but stay slim, then you're in a dream world.....and I'd like to live there too! Your weight will ALWAYS reflect your lifestyle......eat and live unhealthily and you'll be fat....... eat and live healthily...

Why are peanut and Cranberry/Raspberry bars restricted again?

I think demand keeps outstripping production! My LLC rationed hers during the bleak period over the winter, so we never went without, even though we couldn't always have what we wanted! Try freezing the toffee ones and sucking on them, or cooking the lemon ones into crunchy lemon...
  105. Deb G

    Diet Plate

I just use a smaller plate (a side plate) as I can pile it high and never overeat! Also - I don't really eat carbs, so I would use that section of the plate for extra veg! I think you can get those plates cheap on EBay - worth a look!
  106. Deb G

    im struggling

Remember as well, that your body will try to store food the first few weeks in case its going to be 'starved' again. Once your body realises that food is coming back to stay, it will be happier about burning it off, rather than hanging onto it.
  107. Deb G

    just wanted to know

Quorn is the food of the (vegetarian) Gods!! Its SO fantastic! More protein, less fat than meat - SO good for you! Just wish you found it in restaurants!
  108. Deb G

    I've come to a decision

If she doesn't agree, then at least she will offer support for the next few weeks. I've deliberatly chosen NOT to introduce quite a few foods back into my diet (as I intend to low-carb as a permanent eating regime) and although my LLC wanted me to reintroduce potatoes, real bread, real pasta...

    Portion & Food Advice Please?

I couldn't find a decent FF dressing, but I have started using the Schwartz Salad Seasoning (basically herbs) and put that one for flavour - the use of the cottage cheese will stop the salad feeling dry. I've always mixed cottage cheese with Quorn (or Tofu) for my salads. Its fine to do this...
  110. Deb G

    will i still lose weight

Yeah - its only like doing Slimfast - but will be easier becuase there's less carbs in our LL packs. Its a bit like what you do in RTM - cut down the packs and increase the food. I'm on two packs a day with one meal and snacks - so you could do similar! As you can see, I'm still losing weight...
  111. Deb G

    just wanted to know

I'm veggie - and you can have Quorn and Tofu from the start - so I've been having beef style pieces in stirfries, fajita strips in salads with cottage cheese, chicken style pieces in the curry and mince in the chilli. So yes - veggies are WELL catered for!
  112. Deb G

    FRUIT YOGHURT

I also prefer the greek yog and berries option - but I have had the occasional mullerlight when I've been stuck out somewhere with nothing healthy to eat!
  113. Deb G

    Marigold vegetable boullion powder?

I used it throughout - much cheaper and nicer tasting. Use it alot now in RTM as we 'fry' our food in it rather than using oil. It is a wonderfully versatile invention!
  114. Deb G

    Weird...

Yep - I;ve gone from a size 6 to a size 5 - but I would never have said I had fat feet before!
  115. Deb G

    second step taken - deflated.

I agree re the carb in take thing - start reducing it now and you will find week one much easier than the others. You'll also have lost a little bit of weight and got used to eating less. Also, get the book "Eating Less" by Gillian Riley so you can start training your mind and opening yourself...
  116. Deb G

new LL mag wot a stunner

Yeah - it really highlights how much OLDER we all look when we're fat! I look like I'm in my 20s now (I'm 34) whereas before I looked like I was early 40s!!!! I think its also because you dress more dowdy when you're fat because you want to cover up, and also because the 'younger' styles are...
  117. Deb G

    im struggling

Yeah - that's good advice Petey. I used to get a meal down me in less than 5 mins - but now it takes me about 20 mins - and I realy savour it. That's why I tend to hear my 'full' signal now - because I give my body chance to realise its full!!!
  118. Deb G

    Few questions about portions...

I have as much jelly as I want - I make up one sachet into 4 pots (10 cal max eat pot). Then I add 100g (because I buy the 500g pots from Tesco) of Greek Yog (0%) which is 52 cals - so I count that as a 60cal snack. Have a much as you like, but DO try the veggies. I HATED raw veg, but now I...
  119. Deb G

    Im worried

Yep - I got the book a couple of weeks early so I could read through it all and prepare. I got to my goal weight of 9stone before I started RTM, but as you can see, I've lost quite a bit more on RTM and am now officially underweight! Most people lose about half a stone in RTM, but I have lost...

    New to RTM-Advice Please!

You can get it all on the website if you have your member number - and if you don't, then contact LL to get it. I use the website at work if I'm ordering my Tesco shopping and need to know what I have to order for the following week.
  121. Deb G

    im struggling

I use smaller plates and set myself times to eat and I plan how much I will eat. ONce I've eaten it, I don't eat anything else until at least an hour afterwards - by which time I'm generally not hungry anymore.
  122. Deb G

    RTM Week 2

I'm in Week 7 and STILL losing weight. My LLC has asked me to have 3 protein meals a day now as I can't eat any more protein in my two current meals (cos it makes me too full) and I am under-weight at 8st3!! Well done Petey - and glad you're enjoying it!
  123. Deb G

    Great snack....

Frozen Blueberries - check out your freezer section! Buy them from Tesco. Put in freezer. When you get a bit munchie (I usually so this about 2 hours after tea) grab a handful, and sit and munch them in front of the telly. Suck them first, then as they melt you can chew and release the...

    Breakfast ideas that include protein

Well, I'm veggie, so its not REALLY like Atkins as I have loads of veg/salad (just choose low carb options) and low-carb fruits with quorn and/or eggs. I'm in Week 6 of LL now and I've only reintroduced the low-carb stuff off the list each week. I'm not reintroducing potatoes, and I have...
  125. Deb G

    Woohoo im finally here!

I have my foodpacks as follows: Hot choc made into a muffin, then put 100g berries and 100g Greek Yog on top - That's breakfast! R&C Bar at 10am as a breaktime snack. That leaves me with 2 protein meals for lunch (usually salad and eggs) and tea (veg curry/quorn stirfry/ratatouille etc).
  126. Deb G

    Been preparing a little early!

Jelly and Yog are FAB!!!!! If you have a quarter of the jelly and 100g of Greek Yog - its only 60cals and no fat! Perfect when you fancy something sweet. Does not count towards your meal All you count as a 'meal' is your protein choice with veg/salad. I had jelly and yog as puddings!
  127. Deb G

    CONFUSED HELP!!

Thanks for that lovely comment Janey - its nice to have you on board!
  128. Deb G

    Glycogen

Yeah, possibly. I can't see how you can 'feel' it - unless maybe your muscles just feel a bit stronger?
  129. Deb G

    Starting RTM tomorrow!

Glad to have you - looking forward to having more people to bounce recipes around with!
  130. Deb G

    Breakfast ideas that include protein

Yeah - low GI but not low-carb - and I am low-carbing - that's why I haven't introduced some of the fruits and veggies back into my diet, and don't intend to.
  131. Deb G

    antibiotics and LL

I hd antibiotics when on LL and had no effect on ketosis etc. LL advice will always be to do what your doctor tells you to do - no point being thin and ILL!!!
  132. Deb G

    Breakfast ideas that include protein

I like quinoa - just like couscouse really, but SO much better for you. However, as I am low-carbing it is too high for me, so in Week 8 I am sticking to low-carb pasta instead. I already make my own 'pasta' linguine by attackiung a courgette with a potato peeler so it is in thin strips, then...

I had 9 stone in my head and I wasn't stopping till I got there. Now I am 8st4, and desperately trying to get back up to 9 stone!!!! Never thought I'd say THAT!!!
  135. Deb G

    Breakfast ideas that include protein

OK - just read through my book again - yes you ARE right! Ha - hadn't realised that. Although when you think about it, there's not point putting triggers on top of triggers, or you'll never know where you are! Thanks for the reminder!
  136. Deb G

    Breakfast ideas that include protein

Get yourself some Quorn sausages - the Cumberland ones are the nicest! Silken tofu you can mail order - just Google it. I hadn't realised that with the trigger weeks - so for instance, in 'pasta' week - I can have it 6 days out of the 7, then not again until week 12? Is that right?
  137. Deb G

    Glycogen

I don't think you do know, to be honest! I think its just the half stone you lost in RTM goes back on by the end.....but I've lost more than half a stone in RTM, so maybe I'll finish lighter anyway??
  138. Deb G

    How many cals per day?

Scrap that - did it again and it came up with 1940 cals a day and 2200 when I'm competing - must have put it in wrong. Blimey - how am I going to eat all that extra food?????
  139. Deb G

    How many cals per day?

I'm on week 5 going into week 6 and I am on 1000-1100 at the moment - so you look about right. On the LL website it told me to stick to 1500cals a day to maintain at 5ft6 and 8st7 - so I won't be adding too much in when I hit the trigger weeks. To be honest - if I had to eat like this for the...

    Atkins weight loss

Depends. I think I lost about 9lbs on my first week (doing a veggie version) and then it slowed to about 3 a week. I couldn't sustain it, so started doing LL to lose the weight so I can go back to low-carbing as a way of maintaining my weight afterwards. Hoping to maintain on about 60-80g...

  151. Deb G

What do you think is a healthy size??

I would think of what looks good on you, and what is a healthy BMI. I was an average 16 (pushing 18 towards the end) and was BMI 33 which was very unhealthy. I am now 8st7, BMI 19, size 8-10 and look a little scrawny - so I am trying to put 7lbs back on which will make me a 'nice' 10. I was...

Don't know - not tried to add anything in yet. I tend to just add it all up myself from the backs of the packs (LL and normal food) so I have an idea - but I assume you MUST be able to add things on. Grrrrrrr

It makes it easier for them to think that all the effort you're going to will be wasted in the longterm - and that's EXACTLY why we have to prove them wrong! They're using it as an excuse not to do something about their own issues, and just projecting it onto you. Ignore it. I'm getting the...

    Help needed!

I only took on Ducolease and was fine. If you have the water flavourings they have fibre in them, and I found that these alone kept me out of trouble - was only when I stopped having them that I had to resort to the tablet option.

    tiredness

I also struggled with the last 7lbs - I think its because your body is having to really search round and work hard to burn off the tiny remaining bits of fat to use as fuel (literally scraping the bottom of the barrel!). I've just finished Week 3 RTM and have lost 7lbs - so if you're...

  174. Deb G

    Someone noticed

Well done you! Its great when people who DON't know that you're dieting notice, because then you know it is genuine, and not people just trying to make you feel better even if they can't see the difference!

    Rhubarb Rhubarb Rhubarb

Never really liked rhubarb, but as I've made the decision to try everything low-carb on my RTM lists, I thought I'd give it a go. I know it can be very sour, so I found a recipe to make some. I made it last night and whilst it was still warm I put some Greek Yog on top. PUREST HEAVEN!!!! It...

  187. Deb G

    Someone noticed

Well done - great isn't it! My dad's coming to visit this week, and the last time he saw me I'd lost 3 stone and weight 11st7. Now I have lost ANOTHER 3 stone and am 8st7. I think it will be a shock to his system!!!
  188. Deb G

    Annoying things

I'm REALLY funny about food noises! I often tell people off for chewing gum loudly, and I can't sit near my friend when she eats cereal because I can hear it. Hubby not allowed to eat anything with a spoon by me as he bashes his teeth. It REALLY winds me up!!
  189. Deb G

Anyone know the EXACT science behind "The more you drink, the more you shrink?"

No - I don't think there is any. I have experimented with 4, 5, 6 and 7 and it made not one jot of difference - except I spent half my life running to the loo!
  190. Deb G

Ketosis v Vitamins can anybody help?

The tiny amounts of anything inside those tablets won't make a blind bit of difference - so take what you feel happy about taking.

    KETO STICKS

Anything above negative (the peach colour) is fine. But remember - not everyone will produce the type of ketone that is detected by the ketostix - but this doesn't mean you're not in ketosis. I showed up fine until my last half stone, and then I never registered at all - even though I was...
  193. Deb G

    Still not in Ketosis

Ketostix can only detect one type of ketone, and the body can produce two. You're probably just producing the ones that don't show up. Judging by your weightloss, you're in ketosis - so don't worry.

    Annoying comments!

Listen only to yourself. I wanted to get to 9 stone (which everyone said was to low) and now I am 8st7 as with LL we tend to keep losing for the first few weeks of management, followed by a steady regain of about 5-7 pounds by the end. This will mean that I will end up being 9stone again - but...

Weight loss often goes in stages. I tended to lose alot one week, then less the next (as you can see) and this is quite normal. As long as you are staying abstinent, you will lose an average of 3.5lbs a week (mine was about 4lbs). So don't think about week-to-week - think about over the...

I do endurance riding so I do a lot of exercise, and I also run 3 times a week. I found it harder at the start of the diet where my body was adjusting to less cals, but since then I've had no problems - I've never had so much energy!
  204. Deb G

I have gone over to the other side......

Of course! LL and CD are so similar really, its good that we can post across the forums!
  205. Deb G

/i've lost 30% of my bodyweight!

    Its mental isn't it! I've lost nearly 6 stone now - and I only weigh 8st 7 - I've almost lost myself!
  206. Deb G

    lighter life

Yeah - I did about 4 and a half stone.
  207. Deb G

Sent in my medical questionaire!! Now just waiting!!!

Good luck - you'll be joining us all soon!
  208. Deb G

    upset tum

Cut down on coffee (unless its decaff) and the water flavourings - you should get settled down after that.
  209. Deb G

    biscuits

Yes - but I find they are MUCH nicer made from the lemon bar - you end up with lovely lemony crunchy biscuits. Cut bar into 12 pieces and put 3 at a time in the micro for about 20secs till they bubble right up. Then take them out and let them cool. If you leave them in until the first one...

    Tomato Soup Tasting

I've heard very similar reviews to your own....a bit bland. Like you say, the tabasco will help. I;ve never found that tomato translates well into a cuppa soup so I've always steered well clear as the only Tom soup I like are Heinz's or my own.
  211. Deb G

LighterLife - a diet designed for women.

I think CD do a much wider range, and I'm sure LL could accommodate this too. Being a vegetarian, I thought it was fab as I could have everything and anything for a change (look at WW options foods and there's hardly any veggie stuff and LOADS of meat stuff). Interesting thought......but...
  212. Deb G

    Mmmmm.....fabulous fruit!

What a fabbie breakfast!! Had 100g Greek Yog 100g blackberries, raspberries, strawberries Very filling - and very very very lovely!! Looking forward to tomorrow morning now! Got a muffin for break and a bar with Greek Yog and S/F jelly for lunch, then my salad and protein for tea. I...
  213. Deb G

    Diet Coke

Yes - but you don't you find that it is 'control' rather than 'obsession'? I feel SO much happier about eating now - and I really could do this for the rest of my life - I don't feel deprived even though we're not back on all the food groups again yet!
  214. Deb G

    Still not hungry....anyone else??

Hmm.....suppose so. I'm having a glass of Rose at the start of week 5 - but I'm not planning on going back to being a big drinker again - that's how I ended up 6 stone heavier than I am now!!!
  215. Deb G

    Still not hungry....anyone else??

Thought I would be getting hunger pangs by now (at the end of week 2, week 3 starts tomorrow) but I truly haven't.:D Can't check ketosis levels as I didn't always register on the sticks anyway. Maybe we're just used to being satisfied by less now? I'd have thought the carbs in the...
  216. Deb G

    Can anybody help?....Inches or Weight?

That's very common. The weeks I lost little weight, I tended to lose more inches - its all to do with how your fat cells try to expand themselves with water in a desperate attempt to stay put. EVentually they lose the battle though. I lost 10 bust, 15 waist and 11 hips (inches) altogether -...
  217. Deb G

    low calorie alcohol?

Vodka or Whiskey with diet coke is about as low carb as you can get - but DO make sure you're out of ketosis first - otherwise you can make yourself very ill indeed. Enjoy your party!
  218. Deb G

    exercise on VLCD

Won't slow it down. The general advice to do what you would normally do. If you never exercise and you suddenly decided to run 10 miles a night, you can make yourself quite ill as you're not having the calories to do it. However, if you've always been very active, it shouldn't be too bad...
  219. Deb G

    Struggling

I had a bad first 4 days - and in week 3 I suffered a weekend of complete lethargy. Other than that, I felt fine all the way through, as do most people. Try the decaff and see if it helps. Good luck.
  220. Deb G

    Diet Coke

Yeah - I'm trying to follow a more natural diet. I'm veggie and planning to live low-carb as a long term management plan, hence why I'm only re-introducing certain foods back into my life off the RTM lists each week. However, the occasional (ie once a month) can of diet coke should be...
  221. Deb G

    Struggling

Are you drinking caff or decaff coffee? If you're very carb-sensitive (they reckon about 1/4 of the population is) then the caffeine in the coffee could well be making you hungry. I had problems with this - try to buy decaff and see if that helps. You may well be in ketosis even if the strip...

    THURSDAY Hour X Hour!!

Well - great day as we got out of special measures yesterday and the press have been all over the school getting photos and comments for the front page of the newspapers this week. After 2 days of OFSTED I'm taking it VERY easy today..... House being valued on Saturday and got 6 houses to...

    THURSDAY Hour X Hour!!

I've got a new morning mantra and its one they give you on the RTM CD (I was listening to it on the way to class on Tuesday night and I've used it ever since). Every day when I wake up I say (aloud) "This is MY day today, and no ONE and no THING is going to ruin it for me." Makes me feel...

Paul mckenna - I can make you thin

I tried it - it didn't make me thin. Luckily, I found LL since then, and the work we do in counselling has made more of an impression on me than anything Paul McKenna said.
  225. Deb G

    Diet Coke

Yeah - funny why they put aspartame in CD and LL products then isn't it! Splenda (UK name for Sucrolose) is SOOOO much better!
  226. Deb G

    Cauliflower mash

Oooh....sounds lovely. I'm SOOOO enjoying RTM. Every week is so exciting, and I actually set aside time to cook for myself (even if it is just 10 mins chopping up a salad) - I would NEVER have done that before, but now it is becoming part of my routine.
  227. Deb G

    did something naughty last nite

I never thought my body COULD be that small! But I started at a good 16-18 (very bulky and 'round' looking) and now I'm this tiny skinny thing that I hardly recognise in the mirror! Hard to come to terms with!!
  228. Deb G

    Cauliflower mash

Good - keep buying courgettes - but only like them cooked! Have remembered to leave them off my list this week - will add it next week though. How exciting! Looking forward to cooked veg - in fact I may roast some in the oven next week.......ooh.....you've got me planning now!
  229. Deb G

Where have all the low carbers gone?

Rose Elliot's Low Carb Vegetarian Diet (and her recipe book) are fabulous - they're available on Amazon. Lovely recipes and great explanation - simple to follow!
  230. Deb G

    Another low carber!

It depends on your own body and the levels it likes. Certainly start induction at 20g per day, then after induction you can increase your carbs by 5g a day each week (so 25g week 1, 30g week 2 etc) until you notice the weightloss slowing down or stopping. Some people are so carb sensitive...
  231. Deb G

    interesting.why could we get fat?

Interesting. Since I've been on RTM I have actually HEARD my body saying "Stop I'm full" for the first time in my life! And I'm making sure I listen too!!
  232. Deb G

    Tomatoe soup

Hmmm.....the only tomato soup I've EVER liked is Heinz's or my own. Tomato doesn't seem to translate into a sachet very easily! Won't rush to try THAT one!
  233. Deb G

    did something naughty last nite

Great incentive! When I showed my colleagues at the end of FOundation (when I'd lost about 4 stone) they refused to believe that I looked like that! Yet the photo was taken in my work clothes. No one can remember me being that big - and I was appalled......I looked horrendous! Still....size...
  234. Deb G

    Made the blancmange...

And its ok!:) I made it with a raspberry foodpack and a raspberry s/f jelly and it gives it a little more substance. Got it with Greek yog for my lunchtime snack today - and I can hardly wait! :p Definitely worth it for a change! To make: Mix jelly crystals and food pack together. Slowly add...

    Diet Coke

We got our school out of speical measures yesterday after 18 months - a very emotional day for us all. I'm in Week 2 (start week 3 tomorrow when Santa Tescos brings my lovely food tonight) and I have chosen NOT to reintroduce fizzy drinks because: a) they're full of empty rubbish and...
  236. Deb G

Scary moment, then the penny dropped.

LOL - I was wondering that too! And well done! Isn't it great that we're all so much more aware of how we can choose to deal with things like that happening now.....that's why we'll be successful weightholders for the rest of our lives!
  237. Deb G

    Cauliflower mash

Here's one you can try! Pureed or mashed cauliflower is a great substitute for mashed potatoes. Low in carbs and high in nutrients, the "cauli-taste" is very mild. Try it even if you think you won't like it - my husband asks for it! You can flavor it up in any way you like - adding garlic is a...
  238. Deb G

    Cauliflower mash

I'll have a look for you. You can also make cauliflower rice by grating raw cauli with a cheese grater, then boiling (only for a few mins) the little gratings and using it anytime you would normally use rice. Is it week four when we can cook our veggies?
  239. Deb G

    WEDS Hour X Hour

We've got OFSTED in at school at they are deciding today whether to take us out of special measures (after nearly 2 years in it). Am feeling SOOOO nervous! Managed to get my jelly and greek yoghurt down me at lunchtime......just (I'm on RTM).... so keeping my fingers crossed for the verdict!
  240. Deb G

    Breath freshener question

On LL I used Tesco or Boots own brand sugar free breath freshener spray as and when I needed to.
  241. Deb G

Has anyone made it to a size 8-10 on the CD??

I am on LL and I am currently a size 8 (5ft6 and 8st9). I've never been this tiny - always thinking that I was 'big boned' but it turns out it was 'big fat'......not bones at all! I did it all through SS down to 9st and in Management we tend to lose weight the first 6 weeks and slowly regain...
  242. Deb G

    bad week

I am/was on LL (in RTM now) and I lost 5.5stone altogether from September 17th to end of February. I am 34 years old, so spending 5 months of my life on LL is a tiny amount of time compared to my life lived and life still left to live - try to think of it like that!
  243. Deb G

    Butterscotch = Bleurgh!

Its similar to LLs caramel one - and that's vile as a drink - but gorgeous as a muffin!
  244. Deb G

    SS'ing at BMI 25/26

At LL we SS up until we reach goal weight. My goal was 9st which is about BMI 21. I SS up to BMI 21 without any problems. Now I'm in Management where we're reintroducing food a food group at a time. I've lost nearly 5lbs, but by the end of Management I will make that back up, so I'll end up...

    My Birthday 'Posh Frock'

Wow - you'll look fab in it....and what a wonderful boyfriend too!
  246. Deb G

Is there anything better in life than....

Lovely - think I will try it with a mashed up cranberry bar instead....with some raspberries/strawberries and yoghurt! Great! Start week three on Friday - will be FAB!!
  247. Deb G

    Slight Concern

Your body produces 2 types of ketones - these test can only detect one type. If you're losing weight and not starving hungry - you're in ketosis - so ignore the strips.
  248. Deb G

    finished

Bread is the LAST thing you want at the start of RTM! I'd really recommend doing RTM with a LLC so you make sure you DON'T pile weight back on. Even if you accelerate it like Alibongo is! Remember you WILL put about 7 lbs back on when your glycogen stores fill back up - that's why I don't...
  249. Deb G

Is there anything better in life than....

Sugar free jelly with Greek yoghurt???? Its the highlight of my day - I LOVE it!! Its the best dessert - even if it wasn't low cal I would still eat the stuff. God, its delicious! Its going to be a big part of my food plan for maintaining for the rest of my life.....who needs cheesecake???:D
