Emma's Journey from Fat and Frumpy to Fit and Fabulous!

Thank you for your kind words. I've wanted to take up jogging for a long time. I got as far as downloading the C25K app onto my phone and buying new trainers, but then I never made it out the front door. I'm lucky in a sense that my boyfriend likes cycling, he did the coast to coast cycle last...

Emma's Journey from Fat and Frumpy to Fit and Fabulous!

I've spent most of this weekend chilling out and watching season 16 of the Biggest Loser USA. I'm almost ashamed to admit that I'm onto episode 13 and I only started it yesterday, but it's so addictive. This season is for former athletes who have gained weight after their sporting careers ended...

Emma's Journey from Fat and Frumpy to Fit and Fabulous!

Today I made pizza from scratch for the very first time. I used bread flour and a sachet of yeast and made the dough all by myself. I'm really proud because I've never been much of a cook, but I'm learning. I topped it with sweetcorn, red pepper, and tomato, and used 80g of mozzarella (HE A for...

Thanks - still hasn't been found though :( Police spotted him on CCTV around 1.30am walking through Gateshead so it seems he tried to walk home, and for whatever reason didn't make it home. I'm trying not to think about it too much though. Another good day food-wise. I'm so glad it's the...

Still no news about the missing guy, it's been nearly 72 hours since he was last seen. Had a good day for food today at least, but I've been feeling very fraught and emotional. This has really shaken me for some reason. But in a way, it has kinda confirmed for me that giving up a job I was...

Emma's Journey from Fat and Frumpy to Fit and Fabulous!

Bit of a weird day today. Food-wise I've been fine, but a guy has gone missing from my home town and it's really shaken me. I went to uni for my PGCE and was on placement with the guy's girlfriend. It's the kind of thing you don't expect to happen to anybody you actually know in real life. He...

That sounds terribly awkward! Hope the wrist heals up soon :) I need to get myself a slow cooker! Maybe after I've moved in with my boyfriend though, cooking for one is a bit pointless in a slow cooker, unless I want to eat the same meal three days in a row! Haha. Rogan josh sounds delicious...

Probably a stupid question, but what is BNS? I also find that cutting down on carbs seems to help, I'm thinking about trying a couple of EESP days next week to see how I get on with that to try and cut down on carbs. Let me know how your red days go! :)

I bought myself some crisps to have as a treat - Asda's own version of Quavers and Skips. They're only 4.5 syns per bag :) I prefer crisps to chocolate anyway. I was in the vicious cycle of eating junk food for about 8 months. I've gained 2st 5lbs since last June, but a stone and a half was gained in just 6 weeks while I was on holiday. They're a bargain like, 50g for 20p, and there's quite a lot of sweets in the bag. 172 calories per bag, so they're higher in calories than I thought, but they're so yummy! :)

Wow, that is a lot of calories! I'm addicted to Haribo eggs at the minute, they're selling the eggs in a packet by themselves in the shop near my house, there is quite a few eggs in the packet, and they're only 20p so I've stocked up on them! I need the sweets to get me through revision lol.

    Evening meals & Counting Cals!

I weigh all of my food out to make sure I'm having the right portion size. For example with pasta, the packet usually says one serving is 75g, but I use 100g instead as 75g is too small. So I weigh out the 100g of pasta, and use a tablespoon to measure the pesto etc. This way, I know exactly how...

Hi, I'm new to SF and need a little help :/

Welcome to the forum! :) I'm an emotional eater too, and what I find works for me, is when I'm feeling stressed/upset or whatever, I come on here and vent and moan, or read through the success stories, looking at the before and after photos, and that usually cheers me up and makes me stick to...

    TWO QUESTIONS!!

Hi Anita, I only lost 2lbs in my first week, and I was expecting to lose a bit more. I think it could be that you're not eating enough calories. If you eat fewer than 1200 calories per day, your body goes into starvation mode and tries to hold on to everything you feed it, because it doesn't...

    Emma's Slim Fast Diary!

I honestly think I'm going to struggle with my weight my whole life. I'm only 22, but I've been fat since I was about 10 years old, and I think even if I do reach my target weight, I'm going to have to work hard for the rest of my life to make sure I maintain my weight. I know I shouldn't be...

Ooh I love Maoam! At least they're low in fat, but the sugar is bad for you! I guess one or two won't hurt though! :)

Liz's (wishbird) Food & Gym Diary

I'm exactly the same with the gym - it was such a hassle to get up and go there, but once I was there, I loved it! Must get a new membership when I've graduated and got a full time job, I proper miss it! Just making the most of my Wii at the moment, and roller skating of course :)

    Nixnax's Slim Fast Diary

Hi Nikki, welcome! :) I could never give up smoking while I'm still trying to lose weight, it would just be too stressful! I'd end up eating far too much and becoming the size of a house! Lol. So massive congratulations for giving up, you've done so well! :) And well done for riding your bike...

    My 8 Week SF Challenge.

Hi Elaine :) Welcome to Slim Fast! I don't think avoiding carbs altogether is a good idea, it's better to have everything in moderation. It could be a good idea to cut down on carbs, but I wouldn't recommend cutting them out altogether. I couldn't cut carbs out anyway, I love pasta and potatoes...

    Week 1 day 2!

I don't see why that'd be a problem, the only thing would be that you're not getting all of the nutrients and stuff from both scoops. It'd make the tub last longer though! :)
  199. *Emma

    Emma's Slim Fast Diary!

Thanks to you both, if it wasn't for the support on here, I would have given up by now! I know I can do this though, just got to keep plodding on :)

    Fali can Slimfast :D Diary

Don't worry about rambling, it's your diary! You can go on and on as much as you like! :D Sounds like you're getting on well, the exercise will help loads, so keep it up! I really enjoy the shakes too, although I've only tried the chocolate and strawberry. I'll have to try some new flavours...

    Do you have PCOS?

Hi Laura, have you been prescribed Metformin? My doctor gave it to me as soon as I was diagnosed, and two weeks later, my period returned! It's also supposed to help with weight loss, so maybe you could ask for that? It's a medication for diabetes, and isn't licensed to be used for PCOS, but it...

    Emma's Slim Fast Diary!

I've been a little bit naughty, I guess the STS put me off a little bit :( I haven't logged my food diary for the past 2 days, but I'm back on track today. I can't just give up again, cos I'll just be back in a few weeks/months with my tail between my legs. I've lost 5lbs so far, might as well...

    Weigh in!

Good luck with your first week Nixnax! The first week is usually the hardest, but if you get through it, it gets much easier, so stick with it! Two stone by summer might be a bit ambitious, but do your best and see what happens :)

    SLIMFAST NEWBIES - Introductions

I have to disagree with you again! It says 600 (Weight Loss Recipes | Slim Fast), and so do the snacks and powder tubs. If you only had 500 calories for your meal, you wouldn't reach 1200 calories a day.

Ughh Easter Eggs are the worst! I gave mine to my boyfriend to make sure I wouldn't eat them lol. Far too tempting having them lying around the house! Lol x

    Emma's Slim Fast Diary!

Yep, usually I'd just give up and go back to eating the junk I used to eat, but not this time! I'm sticking with it no matter what :) At least I got to tick off the 'exercise 4 times a week for 2 weeks' mini-goal! And hopefully I'll get to tick off the 'lose half a stone' mini-goal next week :)

    SLIMFAST NEWBIES - Introductions

No it doesn't, look here: About the Slim·Fast 321 Diet Plan It says 600 calories on the products too. Confusing!

    No meals

I definitely wouldn't recommend it! You may be desperate to lose weight, but it's not healthy to only have the shakes. It's much better to take your time and do it slowly as it's more likely to stay off that way. Good luck :)
  211. *Emma

    Dilemma!

I totally agree with Nadia, her advice is brilliant! :)
  212. *Emma

Does anyone enjoy their tea even more?

I agree too, because I know it's the only real meal I'm going to have, I make more effort to cook something nice, and I enjoy it way more than I used to :)

I meant that I prefer strawberry over chocolate in all foods, like ice cream and general milkshakes too. I'm just not much of a chocolatey person. They are good though, I just prefer the strawberry one :) Hope you have fun! I'm so jealous of you! :)

I lost 2lbs in my first week, and 3lbs in the second. Weighing in for the third time on Monday, so will let you know then, but I'm expecting 2-3lbs per week. I want to lose this weight slowly and steadily, so I'm more than happy with 2lbs a week, I think that's a realistic amount to expect :)
