absolutely it all comes down to calories in and calories out, weight loss and maintainance will always be about that BUT the lovely folks at Slimming World have worked it all out for us and called it food optimising so we don't get hung up on calories, totally agree with alwayssunshine :)
  63. kerryathome

    Omg why did i binge

If I was you I would just draw a line and get straight back on plan, in my opinion if you try and claw back syns you're still thinking of today, I find it better just to let it go and start fresh, you've got plenty of time before your next weigh in. Also try to avoid thinking about calories...

Fed up - please help! Exercise but hit a wall

don't forget if you're exercising you need fuel, so if you're feeling hungry eat more free and superfree, also I wouldn't recommend cutting down syns for the same reason, I know SW isn't about calorie counting but bodies are about intake and output, I'm not sure of the exact science behind...

How do you convince yourself a pound is a good loss?

if you lose 1lb a week over a year thats 52 pounds or 3 and half stone which by your stats would take you to target :) this is 'just a pound of fat' you're doing great keep going xx
  124. kerryathome

    I'm a newbie!

I lost 2 1/2 stone and got to target by having 1500 calories a day, I just entered it on MFP a couple of weeks to see how many calories I ate, the best advice for you in my opinion is trust the plan, if the plan says you can eat it, eat it. The only limit, as they say, is your hunger, eat til...
  125. kerryathome

    a little advice please....

Think about the bigger picture, a stone in a month is brilliant, how much are you hoping to loose if you don;t mind me asking? brilliant news, home weighing is never good, well done and keep it up xx
  137. kerryathome

Why oh Why do I do this???

ask your consultant for some SAS logs, then you write down what you're eating, why you're eating it and how you feel about it, it may help you target the reasons why, or how about a food diary on here, sometimes when you have to be accountable it makes you think twice. Good luck, you've done so...

Its ideal and keeps everything at a good temperature til lunchtime x

  143. kerryathome

    Extra Easy SUPERFREE CONFUSION!!

now its not compulsory to have superfree, best if you can but sw has acknowledged sometimes it just doesn't fit. If you're still hungry afterwards have the fruit salad but don't just eat it cos its superfree, if you're not hungry you don't need it x
  144. kerryathome

I've decided not to go back to group.

I agree, shop around to find a group that works for you, also the more you go to group the more people you know and the more the consultant knows you and you get more support that way. I would give it a while and see if it improves, as was said earlier, you get out what you put in xx
  145. kerryathome

    Shift Work

long shifts are a killer and then put your commuting time on top, that's tough. How many days a week do you work? I work shift too, I have my breakfast before I leave in the morning, usually an omelette or something, if you find it difficult to eat your full breakfast try having a banana on...

portion reduction after losing some weight?

My advice would be to go back to basics, do a food diary daily, make sure you're measuring you healthy extras and synning things properly. Also any way you can add in a bit of body magic?
  154. kerryathome

portion reduction after losing some weight?

I've been at target for almost a year and haven't reduced my portion sizes at all, if I make a Sw dish for 4-6 people me and my husband have it as our dinner then who ever is at work the next day takes the left overs. So I would say we have large portions.

Extra Easy What method do people use for counting their Syns?

Different people work them different ways, I personally use up to 15 a day and if I don't use them on that day I lose them, My consultant has suggested in the past to make a 'syn bucket' of 105 syns then once they're gone they're gone. You really need to experiment and see what works for you x

  182. kerryathome

    Lost my way...

I'd say if you're eating 2000 calories a day you need to look at your portion sizes, when I did MFP with SW i was eating about 1500 calories a day. although if you're exercising you probably need more. How about measuring inches or trying on clothes that were too tight and see how they fit...

Don't be afraid of your syns!

  200. kerryathome

What's the most common reason for a 'bad' week?

for me its not planning and preparing x my advice would be to try and think positively, is this your first week? Just follow the plan, some times it takes a couple of weeks to get into the swing of it but if you keep your book with you all the time, scribble before you nibble, you'll be fine xx
  201. kerryathome

    Extra syns

all groups should be run around the same format now, I think SW had a crack down on people doing things their own way. They want the seats set out a particular way etc. Also they all have to do team fun tech. So although consultant styles differ quite dramatically the group format shouldn't. xx

Hiya Maggie, welcome along, sorry I don;t know how to make cous cous cake, but didn't want to read and run, things like cous cous cake and smash cheese scones etc should be synned because you;'re using the cous cous/smash etc in an way that its not meant to be used. Same goes for tortilla...

    day 2

hello and welcome are you planning on joining a group? I'd recommend it really, you get the latest info and the consultant support too. However there's lots of people on here doing it alone, why not put your food diary on here so people can help you out with suggestions. Also, I'd say its...

1 stone down, no difference in me!

ditto everything above, short term goals and long term vision, why not measure yourself every stone and see what the difference is in those numbers too well done, keep going and you'll soon see the difference xx

    feeling fed up :-(

great losses there so far Lottie, that last bit before target it really ahrd, I got complacent, felt happier how I looked so kind of staryed a bit from the plan. Back to basics I'd say, get your books out and make sure you're doing the plan properly, I also added some body magic which really...

    I'm going it Alone

I've had consultants I love and some I just didn't gel with. For me group is about the other members as much as the consultant, if you find the group situation motivating I think its worth shopping around to find a consultant and group you're motivated by. however, lots of people go i alone at...

WEIGHT LOSS BUDDY/SUPPORT - or suggestion of a local group

    Think of joining slimming worls.....again!!!!

my advice would be to forget about what you've done before and how much you lost and especially how quickly you've lost it. Everytime will be different. Pretend you've never heard of slimming world before and join a group. Tell them that you've never done it before. Shake off any...

WEIGHT LOSS BUDDY/SUPPORT - or suggestion of a local group

absolutely agree with above. Everyone starts their journey at a different point and are at different stages in their journey. I'm at target (and even if i say so myslef lol) I look nice and slim, I would hate to think that me being there would put larger people off joining. I do my best to...

Any tips for staying at target??

well done an amazing achievement, I must admit, contrary to everyone else on here :break_diet: that I am a synner rather than a hexer, I enjoy what I want to eat if I want to eat it but get back on the plan afterwards, I've been at target since March now and loving it xx

    Slow losses-is it just me?......

not sure what you mean by 'after the carbs have left my body'? there is absolutely no reason why you should be hungry on SW, you can have as much as you need to satisfy your hunger, maybe you're cutting down too much and making it into a 'diet' rather than the healthy eating plan it is good...
