    Which exercise DVD??

Nymple I have those three of Jillian's too, and love them! Actually 30 Day Shred is my least favourite, the jumping jacks hurt my knees and so I'm always out of the running for a day or two if I do that one. Hence I don't. I love Banish fat, boost metabolism, and I love how I'm managing to...

Exercise bike, stepper or cross trainer???

We have both an exercise bike and cross trainer, and I have to say that I find the exercise bike much easier to handle. That's why in the beginning I mostly used the exercise bike, but soon wanted more of a challenge, and now only use the cross trainer. Seems silly to be sitting on my butt when...

    Rest days

I think the usual advice is to "rest" muscles after working them hard with weights, like if you trained your lower body hard at the gym, would not be a good idea to do that again the next day. Cardio would be fine, or doing weights for your upper body. Plus you already get 2 rest days in a week...

    Hi im beth

Hi Beth, welcome. :) I'm fairly new myself, but I can recommend surfing all the boards here, there's a whole lot of info there on all sorts of ways to lose weight. Good luck!

    THE SHRED THREAD..!!!

I've had this DVD for a while and do it occasionally, along with other workout DVDs I have (including others by Jillian Michaels). I'm in awe of those of you that can keep doing this day after day, I find it still really hard. No way can I finish those pushups! Also my right knee gets sore if...

    TOTM and weight loss

I always gain a bit or stay the same from a few days before TOTM till just after. So a little over a week for me!

7st to go before the summer!! Is it possible???

I agree with the other posters that that is a very ambitious goal! You probably feel like you need to have a big goal to keep motivated, but if it starts to look like you won't reach that goal by the time you had wanted to, how will that affect your motivation then? Perhaps a less ambitious goal...

Almost Half Way - A reflection on how I'm changing (including pictures)

Great job you look wonderful! :winner: I really like that you've noticed how much better you feel, I think that's just as important. :)

    Goals and Challenges - Ideas?

I like setting myself non-weight related goals, since I'm not just doing this to lose weight, but also to become healthier and change my lifestyle. So goals like "I will eat at least 500 grams of fruits and veggies a day" and "I will exercise at least 3 times a week" work for me. If you want...

Am I eating too many carbs ?

I think that different things work for different people, and you can only experiment to see what works for you. I think that making sure you get enough protein in your diet is important for everyone, as that tends to keep you feeling not hungry for longer. Why not try and cut back on the...

    How Did You Become Fat?

I've always been "big" though now looking back, I was not fat as a teenager, just bigger than my friends. I was in great shape back then, but still slightly overweight according to my BMI. Since then have put on weight, lost it/some, put on even more by basically just eating too much and...

    which exercise dvd???

Glad I could help! Walking is a good way to get started, but bad weather does make it much less appealing... I find squats and such pretty challenging still, especially as they seem to give me a sore knee. :( That's why I do the Jillian Michaels ones less often, but the zumba dvds I can do...

    Zumba

I've never been to zumba classes, can't advise you on that, but I love the dvds! I'm not a terribly coordinated person so it took me a few times to keep up with it, but each time I do them I sweat tons and burn quite a few calories. I'm not - and haven't been- in very good shape at all, and I...

    What Exercise Are You Doing?

Thanks Viva La Diva. :) I'm not really following any plan as such, just eating healthy - enough veggies and fruits, making sure I get good fats and enough protein (as that keeps hunger away longer I've found) and don't have treats too often. But I do have them, since denying myself something...

how long did it take for your weight loss to show ?

Took about 8lbs for other people to start noticing, but I only noticed after almost 20lbs (gained back some of it over teh holidays...) because I started fitting back into some clothes and my tummy was definitely smaller. :D Of course now the tummy's back a bit, and I definitely notice that...

New to SW and haven't had a ciggie for 12 days!!!

Welcome! I also wanted to congratulate you on quitting smoking! I know it's the best thing I ever did - though I did gain like almost 30lbs in the year after, so you're definitely doing good for watching your weight at the same time. :)

    What Exercise Are You Doing?

Hey - new here but wanted to say thanks for starting this thread, I'm always interested in knowing what kind of exercise others are doing as well! I'm just now getting back into it. I started adding more and more exercise from last August, but kinda fell off the exercise wagon in December...

    Introductions

Hi everyone, just wanted to say a quick hello, as I think this is the Forum for me. I've been eating healthier and exercising more since last summer, though I did go back to my old ways a little in the past month or so. But here I am starting again! :) Basically I just try to eat healthy, no...

    Introduction - just joined!

Hi everyone, wanted to say hello as I just joined the board. :wavey:I have about 66 lbs to lose, perhaps even more if I get that far! I don't think I've been at "normal weight" according to my BMI ever, at least as an adult, so can't really imagine getting there. I'd be happy being a little...

    which exercise dvd???

Hi, I'm completely new here but just wanted to tell you from my experience as still being very overweight and having started exercising when I was REALLY unfit that I don't think Jillian Michaels' 30-Day Shred is the easiest one to start with. Depends on what you want of course, but that one's...
