You may have to start increasing in to about 7 or 8 just before you have to start your sprint and take it back to 4 just before you're due to stop. Might need a little trial and error!! Think the main thing is that you sprint for 15 seconds somewhere around...

I was doing 5k in about 32 mins. Never got below 30 but that's my goal!! I'm not a natural runner but was quite good over distance. I could do up to about 10k. This is def better tho and finding it more of a challenge!

I found that the intervals are good for weight loss and endurance / fitness!! By doing this it makes my time over 5k much better!! X
I'm doing running for weight loss. I'm on intermediate week 3 and it's something like warm up, 3 min run, 15 sec sprint, 2 min walk, 3:30 run, 15 sec sprint. 1:30 walk etc. Obviously, advance is much harder and assume beginner is much easier. I really like it. X
I've went back to intervals and am in my 3rd week now on running for weight loss!!! Soooo much better than just running!! And lots more effective! People are noticing I've lost weight again!! X

Firstly, it's good to have a 16hr fast (helps with fat burn)
And secondly, I find that eating breakfast makes me hungry all day! I have black coffee and boiled water instead and first eat somewhere between 1pm and 5ish.

I think 1200 cals on up days is too low. I have about 1800 on up days, I know others have a little more and some a little less but think 1200 is definitely too low. Thought it addresses that in the Michael mosely book? X

If you are following the bmr route then your cal intake on other days would be 1600 I would assume but I think that as you are fasting, then you could still do the 2000/500 thing?? Will have a reread through my book today and get back to you! X
Have found it quite hard today! Much easier when I'm in work but off all week so didn't really matter andI was out for a meal weds, thurs and fri so couldn't be helped. I hope I've lost tomorrow!!!!!! X
I aim for between 1800 and 2000 a day. 2000 gives a deficit of just over 3000 cals a week. 3500 is better but fine if you're just below 2000 a day. Does that make sense?? X

Monday was surprisingly easy considering I'd been out for a drink the night before!! Can't say I look forward to the dd but I get through them. May have been overeating a little in between but not too much. Somewhere between 1800 and 2000 ish most days. (Apart from the vodkas)!

I always struggled with the first few minutes and still do. I can run 10k now and the first 3 is always the hardest. You just need to stick to ur guns and go for it! I'm stubborn and so wouldn't let it beat me!! :)

Wow! This thread has got really busy again! Glad to see everyone has been bitten by the running bug!! I did this almost 2 years ago and like many of you, couldn't run at all before! I roped a friend in and went for it and would now consider myself a bit of a runner!! I can do 5k in 30 mins now...
I wear the usual. Running pants, sports bra!!, proper running socks are a must and I bought really good asics trainers to support my legs. They weren't that expensive either. X
If u need to slow down a bit then do. As long as u run when they say run (even if very slowly) u'll be fine!! You might not notice a big change in your fitness till closer the end but you de will get there!! X
Long time since I've posted on here but for anyone who followed the horse saga, (poss kieragh only...) he is being ridden again now. :) long way to go til he's out of the woods but it's a step in the right direction and I never thought I'd ride him again so it's all good! :)
