    Bisto gravy granules & passata?

1 level tsp of granules = 1 syn 1 level tsp of gravy powder (original bisto that you mix with water then add to your hot liquid) is only half a syn so a better option if you're trying to cut your syns down in a recipe. (just answered the same query in another thread, lol)
  5. auntynet

    bisto gravy granules.

Its actually 1 LEVEL teaspoon = 1 syn. A heaped spoon can be double a level one or maybe even more cos there's no "top" on it so thats why spoon measurements are always levelled for accuracy. I started using the original bisto gravy powder cos its only 0.5 syns per level tsp, thats half as...

    Taster sessions?

If you don't normally have them then why not suggest one in your group? We usually have one every 4-6 weeks and they're very popular. We usually print off plenty of copies of the recipes we make so that others can try making the things they've tasted and liked.

    after weigh in..

I agree with WelshCake & Nik. My WI is on Fri morning and I'm partial to a V&C (or 6) :D on a Sat night and occasionally on a sun night too, so I prefer to have my "blow out" then. Although it isn't actually a blow out as I use a 25ml measure and 6 of them = 15 syns and I rarely use more than...

Where the bargains are at and anything else thats useful.

Dairylee Light cheese triangles are £1 for a large pack (16) in Morrisons. A bargain as I usually buy Laughing Cow Light triangles but in Asda last week I noticed they had gone up almost 20p per pack compared to the price the previous week!!! 5 Light triangles = 1 hex A.

    Friday weighers

I STS this week - and I'm really disappointed about it. I've stayed on plan with only my allocated syns and I've really upped my superspeed fruits - I've got through 3 melons, 4 punnets of strawberries, 2 raspberries, 1 blackberries and 1 redcurrents . . . and a purse full of money! lol...

what to do with sour fruits?

So here's what I did with the redcurrants. simmered 100g of them with 1 tblsp water and 2 tsp sweetener. mashed them up. let them cool. In a ramekin dish I crushed a choc & fudge hifi bar, warmed it in microwave for 30 seconds then squashed it down tight with a spoon. put in fridge to...

    How long ...

I've lost just over a stone in 8 weeks and over the last week several people have commented on my weight loss. I noticed with my clothes about 2 or 3 weeks ago - managed to comfortably get into stuff that are a size smaller that I'd not been in since last summer. Keep at it hun - so far...

Where the bargains are at and anything else thats useful.

I see you are in Yorkshire - do you have a Jack Fultons (Frozen food) near you? I've often picked up quorn products in there and very cheap. you could also try farm foods too - really miss the one we had in Barnsley and the nearest one to us now is about 8 miles away. Just checked and there...

what to do with sour fruits?

Thanks for the reply slickers - decided that I'm gonna cook the redcurrants and have them for dessert later with some greek yogurt, when they've cooled down. Was reading another thread about too much fruit and what to do with it and I'm gonna freeze the cranberries for now. Off to the...

    Curbing your appetite

Well done on getting into the right frame of mind. We all know that planning is the key. I too get the munchies for a few days before * arrives and I can easily eat a full large quiche in a day - use loads of veg in it and my cheese allowance for the day (plus a full tub of cottage cheese :D)...

what to do with sour fruits?

Need some ideas please - I was feeling very virtuous when I bought fresh redcurrants and cranberries but I'm now wondering what to do with them cos they're just so bitter tasting. They need using up today and I really don't wanna wasted these SS fruits so any ideas would be welcome.

    Negative Remarks

Just tell them you've cut out some of the rubbish you eat and have switched to a few low-fat options then carry on with something like "Its amazing what difference a few healthy choices can make, isn't it?" that way you can almost force them to say something positive. ;)

    Salad cream

Many moons ago I had a boyfriend that was a chef in a posh hotel and he taught me to just add a little water to mayo / salad cream when making potato salads.

    wasted a 0 %Greek yogurt

I love Total 0% greek yogurt when I mix 1 tsp of sweetener for every 1 tblsp of yogurt (rough amounts) cos it tastes like a dream topping/angel delight type of desert - so much better than using natural yogurt cos it doesn't have a "yogurty" taste.

Ever wish the ground would open up and swallow you?

I could have died!!!!! I have a friend that lives in Bury, Manchester, and this week I drove over there, picked her up and brought her through to Yorkshire for a few days. We had a lovely week catching up and then on Friday I took her back home. My mum came along with us for the ride and...

    flexi syns ??

I think its just where you add all your syns together for the week - 7x15=105 and then use them as and when you want instead of sticking to 15 per day. SW don't generally recommend this but it seems to work for loads of people and its good when you have a special occasion to go to when you...

  246. auntynet

    Will this freeze?

I have a few veggies that need using up so planning to stirfry courgettes, aubergines, peppers, onions & mushrooms and then add a tin of chopped tomatoes. I'm guessing it will yield 3 or 4 portions but there's only me having them so wondering if it will freeze ok once its cooked.

Having to really pay attention and feels like diet- not very SW?

Cinders is right in that skipping breakfast is a big no-no when you're dieting. Without going into all the nutritional garb, basically if you eat when you first get up then it kick-starts your metabolism and your body will start using up calories much faster than if you haven't eaten. If you...
