Feeling out of sorts with the group

When new people join, grab them and chat to them. They will be pleased to have someone to talk to, and you will be making an ever-increasing circle of friends. In other words - make your own clique! (Except yours will be a friendly one, of course!)

Day of slimming world and I am really struggling today :(

This is going to sound a bit harsh, but if other people who are "emotional eaters" (actually, at some point that probably includes all of us!) and who like sweet things and chocolate, can do it, why can't you? What is so different about you? We all "fail" and some point or another - the...

Day of slimming world and I am really struggling today :(

It's called a "self-fulfilling prophecy". You said "this can't last" to yourself, and now you are saying "I've been proved right" and "I will give up". You aren't giving yourself a chance because you have decided in your own mind that you are doomed from the start. Also, you have around you...

Burtons Fish & Chips baked snack

Sainsbury website says they are 124 calories for a 25g bag, which would make your calculation of 6 (just a bit over) correct. But you should check the packets you have, to see if they are 25g. Crisps and snacks have no free food allowance so you can use the 1 syn per 20 calories rule.

When someone's starting weight is almost my target weight

Take no notice of the stories in the magazines - they are deliberately written from a particular point of view. How other people feel or express themselves has nothing to do with how you feel. Let them do their thing while you do yours.

    Help!

With things like sauces, dressings, jam - things which don't have a free food content - you can use a basic rule of 1 syn per 20 calories. So the chilli dressing would be 5 syns for the 100g, 1 syn per 20g. According to Tesco website, the reduced sugar jam is 28 calories per tablespoon (that...

    Costa Cookies anyone?

Costa lists the nutritional value of everything on its menu on its website so you could have worked it out from there, but I have just checked and there is no mention of chocolate chip cookies, so it will have to be guesswork.

    Stonking headache??

Why would taking paracetamol for a headache be giving in? That's what it is for. The headache might be caused by a change in diet, or it might just be a coincidence. Either way, there is no need to suffer.

    Help

I can't quite make sense of the figures you list. I am assuming they are grams? Normally on food packaging, fat, protein, etc., are quoted as grams per 100g, i.e., as a percentage, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. So are the figures grams per portion? In which case, what are the...

Extra Easy SP Extra Easy SP Plan

Interesting chat with a consultant yesterday - very taken aback by the way that people seem to have pounced on the SP plan and talk about it as if it were the main plan, particularly on forums and facebook pages. He thinks it probably would have been better if the SP plan had been published in...

Extra Easy Last bit to go and finding it so hard x

If group members make you feel uncomfortable, and you don't feel up to dealing with it yourself, you should speak to the consultant. Our consultant often says "xx is a target member, and we are very proud of our target members - if you want to know how she did it, then ask her!" But to be...

What do you tell your children?

Don't tell them anything. EESP is not the main plan, it is a quick booster short-term plan, and you don't have to do it at all. Cook healthy meals from the EE plan, keep quiet about it, they probably won't notice, but they will benefit.

    changes to plans

I have decided not to do the SP plan unless and until it becomes necessary for a quick boost. For me it is too restrictive and not a sustainable plan (and yes, I know it isn't supposed to be) so I am not going to bother with it. EE works fine and it is flexible.

HELP!! Upset so made brownies...what now?

Throw them away. You say yourself that you don't want them. If the activity of baking helped you, that's fine, but you don't have to eat them, as you know that won't help at all.

    My 'Smug' shopping trolley

    Head in the game

I think you need to remove the temptation. Why were Pringles and a chocolate orange around for you to eat? The starting place for willpower, for me anyway, is when shopping. You can't eat what isn't there. Also - have you spoken to a consultant about the special arrangements for shift workers?
