Bye bye mummy tummy! Dukan round 2 :)

Sorry to hear your little one is still poorly Leah - hope he's on the mend soon. It must be horrible seeing him so poorly. :( Sounds like you're doing brilliantly with the Dukan-ing though. I think the shirataki noodles are an acquired taste. I quite like them, but tend to dry fry them until...

Right lovelies... I'm back! Have felt really unwell for most of the week, but am finally feeling better. Whilst ill, I most definitely fell off the Dukan wagon (not that I was eating much, full stop) - but today I'm back on it. Going to have 2 or 3 PP days to get my head back in the zone. In...

Thanks for the two cents Bonkers! I do really enjoy milk based drinks - my Dad was a milkman when I was a child & was super fanatical about calcium, and I suppose I've never broken the habit. To me, there's something immensely comforting (and filling!) about milk. But today I have been...

0.5lb off for me this week. Am a bit disappointed, but still happy it's a loss. Onwards and upwards! 2manycupcakes ~ (0lb lost ~ 7lbs to go) AgingRockChick - (2lbs lost - 6lbs to go) Alyce- (0lb lost- 9lb to go) BeckyT- (2.5lbs lost- 2.5lbs to go) Bexyboo 6lbs (0lbs lost ~ 6lbs to lose)...

    Taking a holiday week....

Is it possible to go and weigh in a day earlier at another class nearby? I wouldn't really want to go to class on my birthday, but at the same time, know I would probably need the 6 weeks holiday at some point in the year! Happy early birthday for 15th. :)

    Whats for tea tonight?

Pasta with roasted veggies (cherry tomatoes, peppers (yellow, green and red) and onion), quark and 28g stilton (HeB - Green day). It was so yummy! :D
  109. MiniBean

    Whats for tea tonight?

Syn-free falafels, served in a wholemeal roll (HeB) with lots of salad and yoghurt dressing. Nom nom nom. :D
  110. MiniBean

    SYN FREE FALAFELS

Thank you SO much for this recipe Honeyoc. I just made the falafels and they are scrummy. Am going to have some for dinner tonight, and then take others to work tomorrow for lunch. :D
  111. MiniBean

Whats your new SW food discovery??

I lived in Turkey up until a couple of months ago, and roasted salted chick peas are a snack food there too. So yummy! I've been working on the theory they probably wouldn't be free, even though that's heartbreaking. ;)
  112. MiniBean

    whats for lunch

I'm going Green today, so had pasta with broccoli, quark and 28g stilton (HeA). Was SO delicious!

Feel guilty for changing my goal date but...

Wow, congratulations on losing so much weight! You're an inspiration for those of us who aren't so far along on our weight loss journeys. :) Go to uni and enjoy yourself - there's no shame whatsoever in moving your target. Going to uni is an exciting time, and you will need time to adjust to...

    wagamama chicken katsu curry

I'm not 'in the know' here, but from my knowledge of the Wagamama menu, I don't think that's the best choice available. The chicken seems pretty lean, but is then breadcrumbed and deep fried to make it crispy. The sauce is very thick and quite oily, so I imagine it's high in syns. It's a yummy...
  115. MiniBean

    Whats for breakfast?

Am at my boyfriends, so choice is pretty limited! Am going for a Fat free activia yoghurt and some melon. If I'm feeling particularly peckish, I'll have 28g of shreddies with it too.
  116. MiniBean

    Weatherspoons

The Sweet Chilli Noodles with chicken are 10 syns. They are only 1 syn without the chicken. I always go for it without the chicken, to be honest - I can't justify spending 9 extra syns on something I know would be syn free at home!
  117. MiniBean

Are you going to try something new this week?

This week I'm 'home alone' so am going to cook some things that we wouldn't normally eat. So far, I've planned to make: Aubergine and tomato curry Spanish omelette Falafels Something involving salmon (as yet undecided). Am really looking forward to being experimental!
  118. MiniBean

    Nandos... (sorry)

I don't think you're going to be able to get an exact syns value for this. I love SW, but this is one of the areas I think they could drastically improve. Even though the chicken itself is a free food, you need to remember that it will have been cooked in something. I would allow a few syns for...

Too early for a September challenge?

Happy first day of the September challenge everyone. Think thin! ;) I have WI tonight, so hopefully will start the challenge off with a positive start... Am not feeling too confident though. Have stuck to plan all week, but just don't feel like I've lost anything. Does anyone else get like...

    any suggestions please

Is that Gourmet Burger Kitchen? If so... Yum. I haven't eaten there since I started SW, but they do a range of salads that look quite yummy. Having had a look at the menu, there's a Chicken Chilli Salad that doesn't look like it would be too terrible syn-wise (other than the unknown...

    Whats for tea tonight?

Batchelor's Pasta n Sauce with extra veg chucked in. Simple, but tasty!
  123. MiniBean

2nd day into it and this time i will do it!

Well done you. I believe it's that kind of thing that can be the hardest habits to break. I know what you mean about being 'in the zone' - I'm the same. Been going since the end of June now, and even though I feel like I'm going slowly (been away twice, so 2 weeks holiday + 2 weeks poor...

    Syn free veggie lunches

Fat free super noodles, Batchelor's Pasta n Sauce (only some varieties) or Batchelor's Savoury Rice are all good for Green lunches that are syn free and require minimum effort. In fact, I'm pretty sure they can all be cooked in the microwave if needed.
  125. MiniBean

    whats for lunch

Leftover meatballs from last night, cous cous and salad. Was v yummy!
  126. MiniBean

If you have nothing nice to say ....

Congratulations on how well you've done, to lose that much weight is an incredible achievement. Ignore your relative - some people like to put others down to make themselves feel better about themselves. As jo-85 says, it's just jealousy. You're doing a fantastic thing and should feel good...

    Family Meal - Menu Choice's!!!

Maybe the gnocchi? That's potato based. I would ask them to put the parmesan in a bowl on the side, and not eat the garlic bread. I wouldn't like to guess on syns though!
  128. MiniBean

    Supersize Me! - the documentary

We watched the documentary as part of our drama A-Level at school (going back a few years now...), and it was shocking stuff. I like Morgan Spurlock's work - his series '30 days' is also very interesting to watch.
  129. MiniBean

    Can I join you?

Wow, you've done so well! Congratulations! Welcome to our merry band of Slimming World-ers. :)
  130. MiniBean

    Syns?

I do a mixture - some of my syns go on additions to my meal, for example using Light Salad Cream or Extra Light Mayo, and the rest goes on treats. It helps keep me on the straight and narrow!

The morning after the night before....

Favorite chicken recipe - please share

I love this chicken pasta dish that my boyfriend and I make, I suppose it could be called 'Lemony Rocket Chicken Pasta', but it's easily adapted. It's awesome with mushrooms instead. The WW creme fraiche could probably be replaced by quark or fromage frais if you didn't want to spend the syns. I...

    Couscous

I actually had this for brekkie yesterday and it was yummy. I had raspberries, a few tbsps of cous cous, a little bit of sweetner and a Shape 0% yogurt. I was really impressed by it. Not sure I'd have it all the time, but for the odd day when you want to keep your HeB for later, it's worth a try!
  135. MiniBean

    What have you just eaten??

A flump! Needed a sweet fix, and for 1.5 syns, they're the perfect solution. :)
  136. MiniBean

do you have a meal/treat off plan weekly?

I'm another person who eats out a fair bit and is a big fan of these Sweet Chilli Noodles. They're gorgeous, and either 1 syn if served without chicken or 10 syns with the chicken. I tend to go for no chicken as I can't justify spending 9 syns on something I know I could make myself SF! Back to...

    Weatherspoons

My fav Slimming World friendly Wetherspoons meal is the Sweet Chilli Noodles (without chicken). They're filling, really tasty... And best of all, only 1 syn per portion on either Green or EE.
  139. MiniBean

    What have you just eaten??

Roasted cauliflower, carrot and potato wedges, dipped in left over Red Kidney Bean Dip that I took to class for tasting last night. Yum yum yum. :D

I need help with budget meals

At the moment, I always seem to be eating on a budget as I have just changed jobs. Some meals I find handy are: Stir Fry or Curry made with EL mince (Morrisons do 250g for £1.30ish - bulk it out with lots of veg) Vegetable soups, bulked out with lentils Houmous, made with tinned chick peas...

do you starve before evening weigh in?

I eat normally on WI day. Tonight is weigh in (post holiday... Argh!) and I went for lunch with a friend earlier on. I didn't even consider choosing a meal based on WI tonight! Whats your new SW food discovery??

My latest discovery is Calypso Jubbly ice lollies. They're the kind in the triangular cardboard packaging that you buy un-frozen. All varieties (other than the smoothie ones) are 1 syn each. Yum! :)

    oops!

Don't feel down about it Looby - everyone has weeks they find it difficult. It's part of the journey and all that. Chin up, and remember everyone here is backing you all the way. :) (I realise that might sound hypocritical considering what a bad week I'm having too, but I really do mean what...

    oops!

I am with you on this one - my week has definitely gone a bit wrong. Am going on hol on Thurs, so missing WI... And I've fallen off the wagon. :(
  150. MiniBean

    Superfree chips!!!

They look gorgeous, thanks for sharing Ermintrude! I've only done SW Chips with potato (obviously...) or BNS so far. Celeriac is definitely next on my list. :)

    Diet coke chicken

I tried this on Friday night (at the request of my non-SW-er boyfriend), and to be honest... I wasn't that impressed with it. I mean, the sauce had a lovely consistency, and the chicken didn't go at all dry - but I found it a bit too sweet. I think you need to really like those kinds of sticky...

    Las Iguanas syns

Mandy296 is spot on - a Chimichanga is a deep fried burrito. I went to Las Iguanas for a work outing the other week, and went for the Pasteles. It's described on the menu as: 'A Chilean version of shepherd’s pie, spicy sweet potato, butternut squash & chickpeas topped with creamy mashed...

    Hummus

Haha, let's just call it quits on that one then. ;) My C brought the Roasted Sweet Potato Hummus into class last night for us to try. It was AMAZING. I will definitely be going onto BritMumInCanada's blog to get the recipe. Thanks! :)
  157. MiniBean

    YAY!!!!!

Well done! It's a great feeling when you tick over into the next stone, especially if it's one you haven't been in for a while (oh, I know that feeling well). :)
  158. MiniBean

chinese take away... is this dish free of syns?

I would doubt it would be free - the sauce for the prawns would probably contain oil or some other kind of syn. I do think it sounds like a reasonable choice though, although I couldn't say how many syns it would have in it! Sorry for not being much help!
  159. MiniBean

    Thursday Weighers

Slimmingali is spot on - I couldn't have put it any better myself! I am a new(ish) Thursday weigher, so I hope no one minds me joining in. Last night I lost 1.5lbs, taking my total weight loss to 10lbs in a little over a month. Am going on holiday next Thurs, so won't be able to get to...

    Hummus

Sorry! Ignore me Ermintrude, clearly I don't know my HEXs as well as I should! Am actually rather impressed with the amount you get though. :D
  161. MiniBean

    Hummus

Any tahini is 4.5 syns per tablespoon, so you have definitely got it right. I think I would syn it instead of using it as a HEX - being a greedy moo, I want as much as possible from my HEX! :D
  162. MiniBean

    Hummus

Light tahini isnt 'light' in the diet sense of the world, it is literally lighter in colour and texture than dark tahini because the sesame seeds are processed without their husks. HTH. X

Reached my Club 10 yesterday :)

No problem, glad you liked it! :)
  166. MiniBean

    Whats for tea tonight?

  167. MiniBean

    What have you just eaten??

WW Toffee Apple yogurt... Nom nom nom. :)
  168. MiniBean

dyou use them and what on?

To me, syns make following the plan easier. Knowing I can have some of the less virtuous things I like helps me stay on track the rest of the time. Ooooh, I think I would use the spinach, mushrooms, peppers and creme fraiche to make a pasta sauce. Hummus

If there's a knack, I'm unfortunately yet to find it. :(
  172. MiniBean

    Hummus

That's a shame. :( Some of my foodie friends have frozen fresh herbs before, namely by chopping them finely, then freezing them in ice cube trays. Maybe you could try that for a sneaky coriander-on-demand stash? ;)
  173. MiniBean

    Hummus

I don't weigh it or anything, so it's hard to describe! I tend to start with 10 leaves or so, then add to taste. I like things really coriander-y (made up word there...), so I might go overboard at times!
  174. MiniBean

    Hummus

Ooooh, the jalapeno hummus sounds lovely! Thanks for the idea. :) I tend to add coriander and spring onion to mine, it makes a lovely lunch with vegetable sticks. I've also taken it to parties/bbqs etc and it's always gone down a storm!

Wow, can I just say that as a newbie, you guys are really inspiring! :) My next mini goal is to have lost 10lbs in total by the time I go on holiday next Thursday. I've got 1.5lbs to go, and am determined to get there.

What do you lose best on?

I also agree with Funky_Munky. Having done SW before, I know I lose weight fastest using Red days - but I spend most of my time miserable and hungry, as I'm not much of a meat eater (in fact, a well told story in my family is the day I burst into tears because I was that miserable! :D ). EE...
