    Holiday in Thailand...DILEMMA!

Where are you going? In Bangkok you can eat just about whatever you want, it's a very Westernised city. Yes, there's a lot of noodles and rice in Thai cooking, however the basis of most meals is meat or seafood, which should be fine. Most resorts will do Western food too. Just don't eat the...

Am depressed today - weight has crept up and I can't seem to budge it this time

I honestly don't think a choccie bar or crisps every fortnight is going to cause lasting damage to your metabolism. Some people swear by "cheat" or "refeed" days, there are entire diets based around what's called "spiking". It seems much more likely to me (not a medical professional, utterly...

'normal' food tastes rubbish. I love Atkins!

I guess you're on your hols now BCL. I'm just back from mine (again...I'm not usually away this much, honest!), and I was the same. I ate JUNK. And I gained. Can I have too few carbs?

In the short term, no, I don't think it makes much difference. Either way, I mean- it won't hurt you, but it won't make you lose any more weight. In the long term quite often people stall at very low levels of carbs and require more to kickstart weight loss again.

    Is this the answer?

I'm loath to label low-carb/paleo eating as a cure-all (vegans would say the same thing about their diet, and doctors about low-fat diets), in fact I think if we expect any way of eating to be a "magic bullet" we'll be disappointed- the world doesn't work in such a way. However, it is a darn...

Unfortunately it is very normal to feel bad for a few days at the start. My "carb flu" was horrendous, but only lasted perhaps 4 days.
