    Susie's 2022 campaign

I’m good, thanks Susie! Really enjoying retirement, doing lots of baking, spending time with family and my dog. If I could just improve my mobility, stupid knees and hips! I’m glad to hear you’ve moved somewhere you like - I’m not really familiar with the north east, being more on the western...

How on earth does anyone fast?

I maintain my 11.5 stone weight loss with intermittent fasting. Most days I only eat between 6pm and midnight, and fast the rest of the time. Suits me perfectly. 😊

Thanks, Susie, it’s looking like he’s going to have to go into a care home, which is sad. I hope you have luck with your job hunting. Don’t envy you having all that food on hand to resist, lol, it’s bad enough in our house with a mountain of leftover Christmas chocolate! 😄 xx

Life’s pretty good thanks, Susie, apart from problems with my Dad’s health at the moment. Still happily retired, lol. Maintaining the weight at around 9.5 stone (couple of Christmas pounds to get rid of currently!). How are you? 😊 x

Oh I'm sorry to hear you haven't been happy there, Susie. I suppose at least you know what it's like now, you gave it a go rather than always having to think "what if...". I hope the move back here goes smoothly for you. You'll certainly notice a change in the climate! I'm sick of seeing rain...

Thanks for the kind words, Emmaline and Susie! Luna is a little sweetie (most of the time!) - her Mum is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and her Dad is a Miniature Poodle, so she's what they call an F1 Cavapoo. Morning, anyone who's still around! I can't believe it's been so long since I last updated on here. To be honest, I think it's a lot to do with the new interface on Minis, it's not a patch on the old app - or is that just me?! So, I had a crazily busy last few months at work, with numerous sets...

    Tipperary wobbles into 2024

Hi Tipperary! I just wanted to say hello, as almost six years ago, in August 2011, I was in a similar position- 49 years old, and needing to get control of my weight. I was actually more than 10 stone overweight (21.5 stone), with a BMI over 40, and had yo-yo dieted for 30 years. I started...

I have no idea why the kneecap wasn't replaced, it's a mystery to me! But the new consultant has said that when they do the left one they'll do the kneecap at the same time. He told it would hopefully be around Aug/Sep time for the kneecap op. How are you doing, Tara? :) xx

Blimey, that sounds very structured, we have nothing like that round here! 52. TracyGWill

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Thanks , Tara. It's pretty big, I think- he says the recovery time is almost as much as the full replacement. They go in through the existing scar, lop the bottom bit of the kneecap off and replace it with a prosthetic. Gulp. :) xx

Thanks, Stacks. Got a bit tearful this morning, but have picked up a bit now! Umm, well actually the plan according to Kathryn is for me to be at or above 9st 7lbs. Maybe my binge wasn't good enough, lol. But boy did I feel sick!! :D xx
  95. TracyGWill

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Weighed in at 9st 1.6lbs today - up a bit as I had a planned binge day on Thursday! I finished off some of my Christmas goodies, lol. It's been a bit of a crap week, as one of my guinea pigs was very poorly, and we sadly lost her early this morning. That was then followed by the news of Terry...

Crikey, hon, you won't have anything left you can eat soon! I've never been tested for intolerances, but there are some things I know make me feel rubbish, like fresh cream or too much wheat, so I tend to avoid them but not cut them out completely. I could certainly tell the difference when I...

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Haha, I'll try to send some of it your way! :) I was having a look at my stats for last year, on my so-called maintenance regime, and between Jan and Dec I dropped exactly 8kg, so over a stone. I really can't afford to do that this year!! I keep having stern words with myself, but clearly need...

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Sunday morning again, so weigh-in time! 9st 0.3lbs (57.3kg). Oops, I've lost all but 100g of my Christmas gain. I just can't help myself - January is weight loss time for me, it's ingrained in my psyche, especially over the last four years. I am going to get so told off by Kathryn and my work...

    480lb....what happened to me?!

Well done again, another great loss!! :) I used to get terrible heartburn every night, and took medication before bed. But since losing the weight, I don't get it at all. I know, I was there at Christmas thinking, well that's about a thousand calories for breakfast etc. :D xx
  107. TracyGWill

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

I'll have to have a look at those! :) Sadly, I do still think obsessively about calories and weight, lol. I think if I didn't I'd soon get complacent and start to put it back on, being such an ingrained over-eater for the last forty-odd years! :D xx
  108. TracyGWill

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Weighed in at 9st 2.7lbs this morning, so 3lbs of the Christmas gain has gone this week. That was just by eating at my normal maintenance level, so it was obviously water weight coming off. :) xx

Hi everyone im back chunckie chez

Yep, that's about the level. You'll get there, Cat, now that all the Christmas craziness is over, especially with all the great exercise you do! Then you can build up a bit of a buffer for when next Christmas hits, lol. :) xx

    480lb....what happened to me?!

Hi Jo, I ran your stats through a TDEE calculator, and set at sedentary it comes out at 3,400 a day, so if you deduct the maximum 1,000 a day from that, you'd be on 2,400 a day to lose 2lbs a week. I started out on 2,000 a day, but I was "only" 21.5 stone. Just bear in mind that you should never...

  135. TracyGWill

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Urgh, I really can't do this any more, lol. I've spent the last three days feeling sick from all the crap I've eaten! Weighed in at 9 st 5.6 lbs this morning - yikes!! I'm going to have a normal Sunday-calories day today, so a nice chocolate treat (plenty of those to choose from!), then...

Thanks, Lexie. :) He was at home for a week after his first hospital stay, but really wasn't coping well and was very depressed. We'd just got him sorted out with meals on wheels for the next week when he became really poorly and one of his arms was very swollen, so it was an ambulance job...

Aww, thank you. I am quite proud, though of course I should never have let myself get so big in the first place! But hindsight's great, isn't it?! Yes, I'm calorie counting on MFP for maintenance. :) xx

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Ooh no, it's so much more than just a fruit bread, it's yummy! Trouble is I do end up eating the lot, lol. :D xx

Thank you! :) Yes, I am at target (below, actually!) - at 5'8" I don't want to go any lower. :) xx

    Susu's sustainable diet diary

Subscribing, hon! :) Like Letzes, my knees were irreparably damaged by my weight, which is a bummer, but losing so much weight has definitely helped - I think there's little doubt I'd have been on a wheelchair by now if I hadn't. :) xx

Snacking on Nuts Yes or No?

I used to snack on almonds in the early days of my weight loss, but they fell by the wayside during one of my calorie cuts, lol. They are a great healthy snack, just calorific. :) xx
  212. TracyGWill

Treats are not sustainable if I can just keep away.

I allow myself some chocolate every day, otherwise I know I wouldn't sustain low calorie eating. :) xx
  213. TracyGWill

    Started on Tuesday

Well done on the great start! I've gone from 21st 7lbs to 9st 12lbs since August 2011, and for the first couple of years I took Xenical along with calorie counting. :) xx

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Heehee, it was delicious! If only that was all I'd eaten!! :D xx

Well if by one cake you mean an entire Soreen malt loaf with butter.... :D xx

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Well I almost did it - ate my way back up to 9st 11.3lbs, so a valiant effort, lol. All joking apart, I really do feel like crap today, a day like that always serves to highlight what an overload of sugar does to the body, because I genuinely feel hungover. Back to being good today, with a great...

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Thanks, Stack! I feel a bit sick now, bleurgh!! It will be quite interesting to see what my weight is in the morning - I bet the gain will be disproportionate to what I've actually eaten today. :D xx

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Oh thanks, that's good to know! He's never been very good with his dietary control - he's not overweight, but is definitely a sugar addict (wonder where I get it from?!). Hopefully the insulin will help him. :) xx

    Got to stop messing around

Well done, 6lbs is brilliant! :) xx

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Thanks, hon. :) He's improving, as I said above, but it's been the worry of whether he'd be able to regain his independence enough to go home - fingers crossed he will. My knee is still very painful, especially with all the walking round hospitals and sitting with it bent during visiting - it...

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Thanks, Tara, he's getting there. :) He's in an intermediate care hospital at the moment, working on getting him mobile enough to go back home again. They've started him on insulin while he's been in there, and I think that will continue at home, whereas he's always managed his diabetes with...

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Hello all! I've been a bit lax at posting on here for the last few weeks - my Dad's been back in hospital, so lots of visiting and worrying has been wearing me out! I'm allowing myself a no-counting day today because I think I'm getting a bit too thin - boy, I never thought I'd say that!! I...

    Got to stop messing around

When I went in for my for my first arthroscopy, I came round from the op to find out they'd carried out a different procedure. Because I didn't have any cartlidge left, they did microfracture surgery, where they make tiny holes in the bone, which then bleeds and stem cells form a sort of new...

It wears me out just reading your diary, Tara! ;) xx
  231. TracyGWill

    Got to stop messing around

Have you had microfracture surgery at all? I had it on my left knee a few years ago, and it does seem to have repaired some of the damage. :) xx

    Half of Me

Hi, hon! Welcome and good luck. Sorry I haven't welcomed you sooner - been having one of those weeks! I think Another Tracy kindly mentioned me further up the thread - I started out at almost exactly your weight (I was 21.5 stone) a few years back, hoping to lose around 10 stone. I've managed to...
  239. TracyGWill

    Help needed

You definitely shouldn't' go below 1,200 and when you have a lot to lose you should start at a higher level - I'd say around 1,800. Good luck. :) xx

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Thanks, hon! Yes, it puts me at a BMI of 21, which is fine. Kathryn's just got this thing in her head that I need to be in "double digits", lol. :) xx
  242. TracyGWill

Tracy's Journey Into The Unknown (Maintenance!!)

Well I've decided to defy my daughter and embrace the 9s, lol. :D I've changed my stats on here to 9st 12lbs, as that seems to be the weight I'm seeing most often, although I was actually 9st 9.8lbs this morning, which was a bit scary - think I need to stop now!! :) xx

At goal & now beyond... 5:2 officially rocks!

Tara's right, bodies just don't act as logically as we'd like them to - I'm sure it'll come down next week. :) xx

At goal & now beyond... 5:2 officially rocks!

I couldn't resist cheekily saying it, as I've always told Lexie she shouldn't weigh daily, lol. :) xx
  247. TracyGWill

At goal & now beyond... 5:2 officially rocks!

I know what you mean about affecting mood! Mine fluctuates by a pound or so, and I get irrationally pissed off if it's on an upswing, lol. But I think it's vital to keep an eye on it in maintenance, far more so than when you're actively trying to lose. :) xx
  248. TracyGWill

At goal & now beyond... 5:2 officially rocks!

I'd recommend weighing daily! ;) xx
