Green Day Cheese scones. Free on green.

I HAVE to make these, but to clarify, cos I need it all spelled out in black and white cos I'm a numpty at cooking - what oven temp do I cook these scones on? And if I want to use them as a cobbler top for stews, do I make & bake them first then top the stew towards the end? Or chuck...

When you go to a coffee shop, Costa, Starbucks etc..

A skinny latte once in a while is fine, surely? If I go more than once every couple of weeks (and I do tend to go at least 3 times most weeks) I have an Americano with skimmed milk, nothing wrong with that, I can either syn the milk or have it as part of my hex a. I don't ever have syrups etc...

Breakfast always throws me off track

I used to start work at 5am and I'm diabetic, so not having a breakfast of some kind just wasn't an option for me. Why not think about a continental style breakfast? They can be made the night before easily, hard boiled eggs, ham, maybe wrapped around some sliced cheese if you can spare a...

Anyone tried and failed at other diets?

I think I've tried every diet going over the years, pretty much! I've come back to SW now, because it's now I need the support, and the mindset that comes with knowing that I can NEVER run out of things to eat during the day. With free food, if I get to 8pm and need to eat, I can. I won't...

    Dear Diary...

I decided I'd give blogging a go. My weight loss - and gain - journey has been a tumultuous one. I've always been a big girl, and for most of my younger life was a size 16/18. However I was fit with it, and so it wasn't an issue for anyone - except my hubby. He twice left me for the classic...

    rogan josh out of mag

I find that instruction a lot in the recipes, but I just transfer the whole lot from pan into oven dish and slap it in the oven, so then I can walk away and leave it to cook and do other stuff. :) I did this one the other night too, it was gorgeous!! I had mine with chopped Granny Smith apple...

    Friday weighers

Well this is my Friday weigh-in. I've changed from a Monday evening due to badminton starting then, and I've actually not weighed for 17 days, and this is my first SW weigh in. So, I'm ecstatic to report a 9lb loss, woohoo! Gone from 18 stone 13 lbs to 18 stone 4 lbs! :D Just what I needed...

    Simple words...

I don't have anything particular I say, other than that if I REALLY want x, y or z then I can have it - in half an hour. First off I have to do something to earn it, even if that 'earning' is waiting the 30 minutes! The other thing that works is imagining the scenario where I have to tell my...

Scotch eggs? Ok, so I lurve Joe's stuff, big time! But am wondering how you cook the Scotch eggs? I can do the egg boiling and then wrapping in sausage meat bit... but then what? Do you coat them in anything? How do you cook them? Are they absolutely scrummylicious? :p

    Utility bill help please :(

We pay £116 a month for electric only, as there's no gas in our village. We've got a small 2 bed bungalow, but my elderly mum lives with us, so the storage heaters are on a lot. Also we cook twice most days (except weekends) and have the tumble dryer on if we can't dry washing outside, and we do...

    Vending Machine Coffee

Whiteners are awful, so high in glucose - but they do taste good! I've switched to having black coffee, and taking some of my HEX skim milk allowance in with me to use, but you can also take skim milk powder and use, though it's often better made liquid before adding to hot drinks. Don't know...

    SW Roasties

Well, I did the method where I added stock to the roasting pan, and I sprayed the top of the spuds, and I have to say they were FANTASTIC! I sprinkled with sea salt and pepper as well, and they did indeed soak up all the stock and remain fluffy inside and go crispy outside, all with no nasty...

    Thinking about going-it-alone

I'm just starting it alone, as I too am strapped for every penny right now and can't afford class. Tinned mackerel, ever a healthy extra?

Hi all, I've done a search for canned mackerel and can only find anything relevant to healthy extras in 2009, when it wasn't one. So just wondering if anything's changed since then? I love canned mackerel and would like it as a healthy extra on a green day, but it if isn't I'll stick with it...

    Joes sausages

I had my first order delivered last night, and as I had a stew in the oven I cooked a pack of the pork chipolatas in there too - just sprayed them with the oil spray first. They were FAB! Very meaty, quite solid, and nicely seasoned. For a 'plain' sausage they were easily the nicest I've eaten...

October mag and recipe book query

Morning all :) I've been reading the October magazine, and loving the recipe booklet, but I'm a tad confused - the booklet doesn't have sin values by the recipes for all 3 plans? Some have just the green syns, other the red, some the extra easy... erm, why? Is it that for the days NOT listed...

How to calculate syns with this 'free food allowance'?

Hi all, firstly I am following the SW plan, but not joined up to a class or online currently, so don't have access to any online calculator, or have a food directory. I've seen that you can work out syn values by using the 20 points per syn rule. But, I've also read about working the 'free...

Starting SW in sw UK, with a LOAD to lose!

Hi everyone :) My name's Anne, and I just found this site tonight. I'm in my 40's, and I've managed to lose just over 5 stone in the past 3 years, 1 of them in the past 3 months. I lost the first 4 relatively easy, after a lifetime of struggling, but then my brother was taken ill and died...
