    Minerva's corner...

Yes I think you are right that it's a good thing to have breaks. I am a serial dieter and my body and brain are so used to either being in 'gain mode' or 'lose mode' - it is good to experience stability!

hi Minerva, I've really enjoyed reading your diary - good luck with your new approach, I'll be interested to learn more about 16:8!

Hi! Thanks for your message and the luck! I'm liking it so far but it's early days - just taking it one day at a time. I've started a diary in the members only section and put a link in my signature. Have you got a diary? It's so helpful to see what others experiences are like xx

No need to ask to join - if you really mean it this time you ARE a WeMITT!

Thanks Tracy - wow, your statistics are so impressive. Thank you for sticking around this forum as it's so inspiring to see that real people have achieved what I haven't been able to and sometimes think might never happen for me. I read once that most people who successfully lose weight don't...

No need to ask to join - if you really mean it this time you ARE a WeMITT!

Hi, I have dabbled with this forum on and off for years, but I really really really really mean it this time. I am so tired of slowly losing the same stone and then quickly gaining it back, which I've been doing for about 7 years. I have 5 or 6 stone to lose in order for my BMI to be in a...

I've moved my diary to the members only forum, just in case I veer from intermittent fasting in the future but still want community support :-)

    newly minted IF-er

Hi, I've just begun IF-ing - it's my second week now, and I've come back to this forum (I've joined it before when trying other diets) to hopefully get some moral support and inspiration :-) I have made a commitment to myself to have 2 or 3 fast days per week (of no more than 500 calories)...

    coming back (trying intermittent fasting).

Hi, I have dabbled in this form in the past, but am coming back to it as I have made a commitment to myself to try intermittent fasting from now until the end of the year. My plan is to stick to 500 calories per day for 2 or 3 days per week (keeping it a bit flexible to hopefully increase the...

From 14 stone to 13 stone

well after going up and down a bit in the week I am 14st 9 today which I think is a sts from last week. Had to go to a birthday tea yesterday and overindulged on cakes as predicted so hope I haven't blown my chances for a loss next week - I would love to get half way through the 14s soon...

From 14 stone to 13 stone

Oh dear, I sts this week. I think I know why - had guests bearing cake round a few days ago and I ate at least my fair share...then polished off almost a whole box of Mr Kiplings finest that we hadn't got round to opening after they'd left. I find it really difficult to restrain myself when...

Thanks Sleepy, yay I finally found some Quark today in a Sainsbury's local I happened to randomly pass. Made some smoked mackerel pate with it for lunch which was lovely :-)

From 14 stone to 13 stone

Hello fellow 14stone somethingers - I thought I'd report on my progress which is -2lbs taking me to 14st 10, so it seems I'll be in this group for quite a long time yet. I've signed up with slimming world online (not sure it was worth the money tbh as I already have a food directory) and this...

From 14 stone to 13 stone

Hello, can I join your group? It would be nice to belong to a group with people in the same boat - I'm 14st 12 at the mo, attempting to start sw this week but not feeling very organised at the moment...

Is there any way of speeding up my loss?

Wow - if I could lose 3lbs a week on 1200 calories and some weekly wine then I know which plan I'd go for! I wonder (if it's not too nosy) what made CD appeal to you in the first place if you have such good losses on a conventional diet? I think it's pretty unusual to lose more than 4lbs in an...

Cass' CD diary - starting April 2008

Day 12, and I have a burning question... The burning question is in relation to a compulsive and irrational shoe buying frenzy I went into during the Office online shoe sale a few months ago...owing to a great deal of annoying shenanigans involving credit card addresses and stupid postal...

Slinks back in with tail between legs

Interesting - my number one ss food craving is salad too - oh for a raw spinach leaf! If only our minds/bodies felt the same when in management! Am struggling with similar thoughts, but I think if we set out to do ss for the time we intended to, it honours our integrity and self discipline and...

days 9 and 10 First weigh in isn't til Friday Tracey! I've been a bit disappointed with my shrinkage so far to be honest - can't really tell any difference yet with my trousers of truth. I suppose I'm comparing it unfavourably with the difference on lightlife from week to week, but 1. am...

Hi Laura you're doing fantastically! I can share your job woes with you - I just got a double whammy of rejections this morning for a post grad course I really wanted to do; am trying to see it as an excellent opportunity not to comfort eat to make myself feel better! I've also been having...

Did a yoga course today which, together with a gnawing wait for some exam results that I'll get sometime next week took my mind completely of food - yay! Must induce extreme anxiety more often! And do chanting, though am not sure what flatmates would have to say about that!

    On My Way

Hi Jules - your CD situation sounds pretty similar to mine - i started last week at 12.4 and want to get to 9.7, and I'm on SS+ (4 shakes plus milk). I've made it through the first week completely sole source, but totally taking it one day at a time. Are you a returner or a first timer? I...

Cass' CD diary - starting April 2008

First week nearly done! Oh am soooo pleased the first week is nearly over with. Trying to keep my head down and eyes on the prize, but I'm so scared of tripping up! Had a very boring Saturday - had some work to do which made my eyes go funny, and then noodled around on the internet for ages...

Losing it from the top down????

I totally lose from the top down. It's so frustrating to have bony collar bones and a fat arse! And when I regained the weight I'd got rid of with LL, the first half a stone back on went exclusively on my thighs - I could almost feel them getting fatter every day, which was VERY scary indeed.

Day 6! One more day and I'll have done a week - hurray! Had a v.unproductive day working from home and only did a 3rd of what I wanted to do, which means I'll have to be extra diligent tommorow even though it's supposed to be a day off - gah. I do think my overeating is (was) very tied up...

The one I've got is a big ancient blue hardcover book just called "Callanetics" the subheading is "how to look 10 years younger in 10 hours". Just found a pic on amazon! callanetics

Sara, it's a series of toning exercises devised by a woman called Callan Pinckney - it was very popular in the 1980s. It might be a bit like mat-based pilates, but I'm not sure. Instead of doing big movements, like sit ups or leg raises, you do lots (about 100) of tiny precise movements that...

I'm still scared and think you're very brave! Maybe I tend to overdo the first couple of sessions and that's why I'm in such pain that I can barely walk let alone do any more! Day 4/5 Hang on... last post day 3? I started on Sunday, and now it's Thursday...either I forgot to post yesterday or this is easier than I think. Today was the first day i properly left the house. Went into London and traipsed up and down Oxford street for birthday presents - went a bit...

I AM FREEZING ALL THE TIME????

Hmm, I don't think it's ketosis - I never felt cold when I did Atkins. I think it is because technically speaking we are starving ourselves and therefore our bodies are going into shutdown mode where non-essential functions like keeping our extremeties warm (and growing our hair!) are cut back...

why do so called friends want to ruin my diet

Oh you poor thing! As everybody before me has said, they are spitting the dummy because you're doing something that they are scared they will never achieve themselves. Hopefully if you stick to your guns and show them that they can't turn you back into the person you've always been, it won't...

Slinks back in with tail between legs

Yay, well done for surviving day 2! I didn't like it either - it was a very waterlogged and wobbly day. It's a weird time isn't it this, before any fat has noticably disappeared, when you feel like you've been abstinent for ages but hardly any (positive!) physical changes have happened yet. I...
