    Blergh! - FatFairNForty(ish) - my diary

You will get back on track. Just look how much you have lost already. It only seems like a few weeks ago that you restarted and you are over half way there. These diets are hard at the best of times. When life is crap they are virtually impossible. Be kind to yourself. Jac

Still not sure what to do!

    Advice needed

Hi I have only been doing this a short time but I will try and answer your questions. Caffeine not allowed as it messes up your blood sugar levels and therefore has an effect on insulin production. Too much insulin means our bodies store more fat. The idea on this plan is to keep your blood...

I wouldn't have the slimfast as that much sugar in one hit could take you out of Ketosis and cause cravings. If you need something convieniant try a low carb bar like Atkins or Celebrity Slim. Instead of half a can of soup why not have a proper dinner of fish or chicken with veg. That will...

Amount of carbs/net carbs in a VLCD

May try something different this time??

I dont think you will gain on 810 as the carb increase is minimal. I know some people do 810 from the start and manage to lose close to a stone a month. Jac

    Help - I'm new

Hi I also have 7 stone to lose and I am 40 in June. This diet reduces your carb and calorie intake and you go into a state called ketosis. This burns up your fat reserves and also stops you feeling hungry. Once you are in ketosis the plan is relatively easy to stick to. Most people go into...

Hi AJ I've seen you reply to a few posts around the boards so thought I would come and find out what you have been upto. And here you are doing WW. Do you know I think this is the only diet I haven't tried (yet). It seems like a very straightforward sensible way of eating. My problem (well...

Hello Alpha welcome to the site. Sorry you are struggling at the moment. Have you seen your CDC since you started? How much weight have you lost so far? Being cold is a sign that you are in ketosis but if you are, you shouldn't feel hungry all the time. You could try splitting your packs so...

reallly unhappy about this weeks weight loss

Spooky got there before me and she is spot on with her advice. Stick to SS and you lose at least 14lbs a month. But you wont lose it in equal amounts of 3.5lbs per week as our bodies just dont work like that. Jac

Did anyone see Richard and Judy last night?

I missed it but it is repeated at 2pm today. Jac

    Drinks

I know you wont want to hear this but water is really good to drink while you are low carbing. Just like on Cambridge it helps flush out the fat and keeps you hydrated so you dont retain water. From cambridge to Atkins add a meal?

It is Jim Very Low Calorie Diet about 450cals a day. They say its low carb and I suppose if you compare it to the average UK carb consumption it is. Most people go into ketosis on it. However from a low carb diet point of view I think its too high. Jac

From cambridge to Atkins add a meal?

I tried this and for me it didn't work. | The Cambridge packs have 14g of carbs so having 2 a day plus a meal took me to over 30g a day. I am very carb sensitive and need to stay well below 30g to lose consistently. On CD I have 3 packs a day so carbs are around 45g (more if you use bars) but...

    Fozen veggies

The book just gives general information an average if you like. Most food you buy these days has all the nutritional values listed on the packaging and this is what you should go by. 80g of frozen broccoli will have a different carb count to 80g of raw. Jac
  132. J

    Im totally and utterly confused

Low fat(lite versions) are to be avoided at all costs. They always have sugar added to them to make them taste of something after all the lovely fat has been removed. On this way of eating fat is your friend!
  133. J

    Im totally and utterly confused

You really have to look at the packaging of the mayo you are using as they all contain different amount of sugar. Helmans contains 1.5g per 100g. 100g is loads more than a tablespoon.
  134. J

    Hot Choc

Drinking Choc has too many carbs as it already has sugar and milk powder in it. What you need is cocoa powder then sweeten to taste with splenda. 100g of Green and Black Hot Choc has 63.5g carbs 100g of Green and Black Cocoa has 13.6g carbs Obviously you wont be using 100g of either but it...

Hi Jim thats a fantastic weight loss. Can I ask if you stayed at induction levels for longer than two weeks and how many carbs could you eat and still lose weight. Thanks Jac
  139. J

    atkins bars

I wouldn't have these on induction to be honest. It really is best to stick to real food and use these products as a very occasional treat once you are firmly into the low carb way of eating. I've always counted the total, not the net carbs in these products too. The sweetners and other...

If you are doing low carb/Atkins these would be fine. As you are doing Cambridge SS definately not. Sure they have less carbs/cals than a tetra but they dont contain a third of all your daily nutritional requirments. If you need to eat something it should be from the SS+ 810 list of foods...

As others have said your water intakes looks fine. Making up the shakes with extra water is a good way of upping your intake. If you suffer from water retention the best thing you can do is try and drink more water. Your body will then be happy to let go of the excess. Jac

    Time To Get a Grip

I haven't been on here for a while so thought I would update you all. Last weekend I went along to the Glasgow meet and had a fantastic time. It was lovely to be in the company of like minded people and we all had far more in common than our struggles with our weight. If you haven't been to a...

    Help Please

Hi there, Movicol is my laxative of choice at the moment and as far as I am aware it does not effect ketosis. If you are prone to constipation it is a good idea to take a fibre supplement such as pysillium husks. Jac

Right who got the last room at the Ibis then! After having such a great time at the Glasgow meet I thought I might come along to this one but it seems that the hotel is full. Does anyone know a hotel near to the Ibis? Its years since I have been to York. Jac

Glasgow Meet - 23/24 May - Last call to join us, and where we'll be

Finally found some time to update you on the fantastic weekend I had at the Glasgow meet. I must admit I felt a little nervous walking into Jurys on my own on Friday afternoon but I needn't have worried as I was made to feel very welcome by Sharon and Sandy. A short time later we were joined...

Glasgow Meet - 23/24 May - Last call to join us, and where we'll be

Hi Folks Well my plans have changed a bit (there's always one isn't there). As we have been talking about small indulgencies and treating ourselves I have decided that I am in much need of some 'me time' and have booked myself into a hotel for Fri night. Unfortunately (or fortunately for...

    Please help guys..

I have heard that Sea Kelp tablets help with hairloss. I got some last week in Holland and Barrat cost about £3.00. Maybe worth a shot but as others have said it is only temporary. Well done on your weight loss Jac

Getting the click.... if I can... YOU can...

That is such an inspirational post Sandy. To have lost such a significant amount of weight in a conventional manner is totally awe inspiring. Cant wait to meet you. Jac

    Keen Eye

Yes Sharon I agree for now I need the discipline and easiness of CD. I can overeat just as easily with low carb food as I can with carbs. Infact I can be a right little piggy when it comes to cheese, cream, nuts bacon etc. My plan is to stick to CD with the very occasional low carb meal untill I...

    Switched To Atkins

O God I have to stop reading this thread. All this food sounds fantasic. One of my fav low carb dishes is scallops with pancetta. Not cheap but soo delish. Jac

    Here I go AGAIN lol!

Hi Sue Well done on the 5lbs. I have been following some of the low carb threads as I have eaten this way it the past. On CD(umpteenth restart) at the moment and so far so good but knowing me goodness knows how long it will last. I've never been formally diagnosed with insulin resistance...

    Keen Eye

Hi I'm another one keeping an eye on all you low carbers. At the moment I seem to be in the zone and CD is going well. Like Liz my losses are not amazing and having done low carb in the past it is tempting to think I could eat food and get similar results. So keep up the good work and I...

    Woohoo 2 Stone Mark

Well done Liz Isn't it a great feeling when it is going so well? I'm on day 19 and loving it. Long may it continue for us all. Jac

Problems with the CD Sole source diet

Glad to hear you seem to be feeling better. Just a thought but if you are still getting headaches maybe you need to drink more water. I feel at my best when I have 4-5litres a day. Jac

    Restarting Sunday

Hi Sorry I have only just seen this post. Are you doing OK? As you can see a lot of do struggle to get back on track after taking a break from CD. On numerous occasions I have made it to day 3 or 4 but no further. This time everything has just fallen into place and I am on day 19. To make...

    am back on the wagon!!!!

Well done on sticking with it. My husband goes away sometimes but I must admit I find it easier when he's not here though it is hard copying with the boys on my own. Keep at it and you will soon be in Ketosis. I am on day 19 already. Jac
  242. J

    day one...........................again

Well done. Are you in Ketosis yet? I find once you get past day 4 it easy peasy. Keep it up Jac
  243. J

    am well gutted :(

You have to stop weighing yourself everyday or at least you have to stop letting the scales bother you so much when you do. 3 packs, a bit of chicken and some cucumber cannot lead to a 2lb gain of fat. However loads of things can cause you to gain 2lbs of water. Please try and keep things in...

Glasgow Meet - 23/24 May - Last call to join us, and where we'll be

Hi Everyone Just to say I am really looking forward to meeting you all at the weekend. I'll be along on either the Fri afternoon or Sat during the day at some point. Maybe both if I behave myself! Not sure how late I will be able to stay due to kids/husband etc. Sandy thanks for your number...

    Time To Get a Grip

Well I had my week 2 weigh in and have lost a further 5lbs. Was a bit dissapointed not to get to that magical 1 stone marker but it is TOTM so we will see what happens next week. Generally I am finding it easy to stick to at the moment but weekends are hard. I have decided to start taking...
