I did start a German post a couple of years ago but I'm going to re-attempt SW so thought I'd wave and say hi.
Anyhoo, I'm looking for a Laughing Cow extra light type cheese, does anybody know of any? I've only seen actual LC cheese occasionally
but full fat one anyway. Thanks in advance!
Want to make a frittata or quiche type thing to last a few days in the fridge. I've just bought quark and fromage frais which I've never cooked with before. Does anybody have a recipe for me, pretty please? :D
Well, moreso the egg/quark ratio as most recipes on here just say 'a tub of' but I...
I want to restart doing SW and want to spend the weekend batch cooking so it's easier to not get tempted to just order a takeaway. Struggling to think of ideas though so could anybody recommend some dinner ideas that are freezable.
So far I have:
Beef goulash
Spag bol
Chilli
Irish stew
Chicken...
Just made this quickly before my peppers go past their best. Freezable, great for BBQs/pack lunch as can be eaten cold, and syn free on all - (not sure if bacon needs to be HEB/synned on green as I don't do it) - also a great store cupboard sauce
Few rashers of bacon - smoked is better
1...
If I make carrot and swede mash it's still superfree, isn't it? I only ask because I know there's a few things where it changes 'free' status when mashed so thought I'd better check just in case, just realised sweetcorn isn't superfree so need something for my 1/3 on EE :)
It was actually when I was doing 12.5 hr shifts I started to put loads of weight on, it's really really difficult to eat normally. I had a very physically demanding job and was constantly on the go but the late takeaways on the way home soon took their toll, hopefully your tips can help some...
Fairly recent ones as over the years I've seen many a bad film;
Avatar - most overrated film ever made, methinks!
Black Swan - what a pile of pish
Unknown - God awful
Bridesmaids - I don't understand the hype over this at all, terrible film full of characters that were impossible to like...
The new Lucy in Eastenders, she's gots to go!
Kristen Stewart, in fairness I hate Twilight but she's a dire actress
Taylor Lautner - as above!
Sorry to say but Liam Neeson rubs me up the wrong way aswell, Taken is a good film but that phone speech makes me cringe.
Jack Black, just don't get...
Me and hubs usually get a boxset and storm through them, I hate having to wait a week for the next episode. Favourites are:
Six Feet Under - can't believe nobody has mentioned this, the best series ever made, in my opinion :D
Dexter
Lost
Band of Brothers
Friends - I have the boxset on...
I'm sure I saw this somewhere but can't find it now. Really fancying Scotch Eggs so if anybody could post a recipe using pork mince, can't get low syn sausages here, I'd really appreciate it. More of an idea of what to put in with the mince really to make them really tasty! :D Thanks!
I had these last night, I put some parsley and mustard in the mixture and didn't bother with the egg, I wish I'd put more seasoning in but otherwise they were lovely and will definitely be a favourite! I made them the night before, used them straight from the fridge and they didn't fall apart at...
They didn't have any Optiwell so I got some Linessa which is 2 syns per pot. Are Mullerlights free, my book says 2 syns for them as well.
I walked around taking photos of stuff like a loon haha
I like courgettes but not massively so usually use them chopped up in little cubes in omelettes, spag bol, cottage pie etc. They work really well in an omelette with bacon, mushrooms, onions, peppers and a sprinkle of parsley :)
I understand replacing the free/synned foods but the HEX are there to ensure you get calcium and fibre. That was my understanding of it anyway. Maybe I'm wrong :-)
I love Germany, it's a great country, it's a shame some people decide to hate it here before they've even arrived and set themselves out to be miserable.
We were supposed to go home a couple of weeks ago, first time back to London for me to see my family in almost two years, broke down on a...
I drain all the fat after browning it anyway so don't usually worry it but want to try the Babybel burgers. Apparently Netto do a lean beef mince but I've only bought meat from there once and it was off so don't really want to do that again, I'll just use Lidl's and added a few syns to be on the...
Thanks Taskey, I thought of that but German mustard is really mild, I only like English mustard & guessing zenfpulver doesn't have that kick. I did the BBQ sauce but unfortunately didn't like it so not to worry anyway lol
Had my first way in today and lost 2lbs. Quite impressed as I wasn't actually doing it this past week, just went to register while my friend was as she was driving - full steam ahead now though :D
Hi Pete,
Are the chives absolutely essential in the leek and potato soup, is there an alternative I could use? I've just smashed the whole jar on the kitchen floor grrrr!
Also, do you do anything with the chicken you serve with the Jamaican rice and peas or have a syn free jerk seasoning...
Yep, joined last week. Not been doing it this week as I'd just been shopping but thought I'd join while my friend did cos she drives and I didn't want her waiting around for me if I joined this week.
Do you go?
Oooh I did not know that, thank you very much Taskey. We are BFPO but I try avoiding the NAAFI where poss - I'm just down the road from you, I've just noticed lol. Small world
Hi,
I'm not in England so need to get some stuff brought over to me here in Germany, I can buy most things here but they tend to be very expensive for herbs/spices.
Can anybody help with a list of things I'll definitely need for marinades etc or low-syn sachet mixes that will be handy to...
Hi folks,
I've just started SW, I did do it before but the group was a bit rubbish so stopped going after a while, I live in a different area and this group seems much better.
Be nice if anybody else was in Germany so we could swap SW finds in German supermarkets :D
