    Gillian Riley "Beating Overeating"

An update: I am still following the guidance of Gillian's books and am beginning to see results :). I still don't weigh myself but, for example, at the beginning of the new school term I tried on my usual work trousers but they are now too big, I needed a size smaller. This is a side effect I...

    over eating

I think that, for most people (me included), getting to grips with taking the emphasis off weight loss on to eating less, and subsequently not using scales to weigh myself and record losses, is very difficult. I have been following Gillian's principles for some time now and know that a 'side...

    Gillian Riley "Beating Overeating"

Part two... The first thing to do is to ditch that weighing scale. It is a scary prospect, Bastet, because certainly I have relied on the reassurance of the dial on the scale going down as a barometer of my progress and achievements on ‘the diet’. However, focusing on reducing the numbers...

    Gillian Riley "Beating Overeating"

JUst started to exercise and feeling dizzy and lightheaded.

If anything, I would consider low blood pressure to be the problem (light-headedness, dizzy) rather than high. However I've discounted this because I can do hard workouts upright (spinning) without a problem, so I figure it must be lying down that is causing the problem.

    Twilight saga

DQ, it is science fictionish, and the first chapter baffled my daughter so she stopped reading it. If you keep going though it gets much better. I have read a lot of science fiction in the past so it wasn't a problem for me, but if you're not used to it, it can be confusing.

Weight Loss Improves Mood In Depressed People, Study Shows

I was nodding at the heading of this article before I read it. I have noticed that my mood is much more positive when losing weight. I've often thought that too much sugar affects mood negatively and I usually eat too much of it. When dieting, I cut down the sugar, and soon feel my mood...

New US surgeon general criticised for her weight

It's the old prejudices coming out... fat/overweight = unhealthy, lazy, stupid etc slim/'normal' weight = healthy, active etc Neither of these beliefs is necessarily true and to accept them as fact is dangerous, not to mention offensive. It is a fact that maintaining a stable, larger weight...

Another 1lb off:) even after the wonderful Yang Sing all-you-can-eat buffet on Sunday. That's me lost two and a half stone so far. If I lose another 1lb next week I'll be in the 13s:D. Myself and Jayne are having facials tomorrow, and I think I'll make an appointment to get my hair cut...

    Anyone into Vamp Novels?

I'd like to learn more about Esme because out of all the characters, she is mentioned the least. Emmet too. My daughter, who got me into these books because she never stopped talking about them (I am now a Twimum), has built up a large 'posse' of other girls at school who have read these books...

Hia M, It's just about the time when I need to pay the balance of the holiday:eek:. Probably at the weekend. It will be hard to part with so much money;). I've been on to the website to check out the excursions. They are SO expensive:( so we won't book any, just do it ourselves. It does...

    61lb gone in six months!

Hello there, Jax. Nice to hear from you:). It is such a difficult balance to be a good parent, and particularly when children approach the teenage years and we have to slowly let them go but keep them safe. I am still waiting for my two to become 'terrible teens', but so far only my son...

    61lb gone in six months!

My kitchen is now white glossy drawers, black worktops/splashbacks, stainless steel cooker/micro/fridgefreezer. A splash of red would be a great contrast. I tried a sample paint pot on a couple of walls and the mocha colour was best and complemented the black and white nicely. AJ

    61lb gone in six months!

I'd would have liked to pop along on Sunday, but I knew the kids had other plans for me:D. If it hadn't have been Mother's Day, I would have been up a ladder painting the kitchen walls;). After several months of faffing about, I finally decided what colour to paint the walls - not a deep blood...

Hello, back:wavey:! I had a lovely Mothers Day, although had to change plans of a picnic in Linlithgow - it was too blooming cold. So we went to a chinese buffet instead:D. I knew that would please the kids. Not surprisingly it was packed with families, but we booked before we went. Then...

Really pleased Ray won, but was holding my breath because it was obvious that Dolan had a lot of (deserved) support too. It could have gone either way. I don't know much about technical skating stuff but I know that I could have watched Ray skating for ever, he just makes me smile.:) I was...

Hia CC! Yes, it's a lovely walk around the loch, with Linlithgow Palace looming in broken splendour on the banks. I am planning to take my parents there when they come to visit. We'll take a picnic. Yesterday in the playground I almost took my coat off, it was so warm. It is amazing how...

    Stephe King Fans?

The Stand is a bit special:). I love It too, and The Green Mile. Both It and the Green Mile were translated into fantastic films too. Who can miss out The Shining, also translated into a very scary film. I've watched it many times and it scares me still. Jack Nicholson's performance is...

Fitness trainer piles on seven stone to understand fat clients

It's a great article, Jim. Thanks for highlighting it:). This chap has not really understood the nature of why people become overweight, and struggle to lose and keep off the excess weight. It is too simplistic to suggest that it is because they eat too much, because that is obvious. The...

I would love Ray to win too (obviously;)) but Donal's improvements in skating have also impressed me, I would be happy for him to get the public vote - he is definitely the most improved skater of the three. Yes, I know what you mean about 'feeling' when watching Ray skate:eek:. AJ
