You've lost 23lbs though - this is brilliant! You must be doing something right, so keep at it!

Operation Starvation update/ edge of caving in!

p.s. high intensity exercise is totally out as my knees are shot. I do as much as I can without causing myself constant agony, but unfortunately cycling to and from work twice a week plus one walk home (its 2.5miles each way) pretty much ruins them. I am such a naturally active person it is gutting.

Operation Starvation update/ edge of caving in!

Thanks for all the replies. I've never been properly big, size 14/ 10st 9 is the biggest I've been and that was first year uni, years ago. I honestly think I would still lose weight on 24pts a day as this is so few calories. Weighed sneakily at home this morning and I've lost 8lbs in just...

Operation Starvation update/ edge of caving in!

Thanks Donna, I might try something else. I leave the house for work at 7.15am so I tend to eat breakfast when I get to work, about 7.45am. I have 4 Weetabix or 4 Shredded Wheat, but cereal never fills me up for long, apart from 100g or so of muesli which I'm sure would be about a million...

Operation Starvation update/ edge of caving in!

On a typical day I have cereal and milk for breakfast (6 points, including milk for drinks throughout the day), 2 pitta with ham and salad (5 points for pitta, 1 or 2 for ham), couple of Ryvita (1 or 2 points) or an apple and a WW yog for snacks (1 point) then chicken (2.5), 1 potato, veg and...

Operation Starvation update/ edge of caving in!

I have tried the soup but it doesn't seem to fill me up! For dinner I had salmon (4pts) with load of veggies, but I'm starving again and have no points left. I am on 18 a day; I reckon I normally eat about 40, seriously!

Operation Starvation update/ edge of caving in!

Okaaay so it's my 3rd weigh in on WW - lost 3lbs first week, then 2, then 2. Very good for me. However, having been pretty much constantly hungry for the past 3 weeks, I'm not sure how much longer I can sustain this. What's the longest you've lasted on WW? My previous is 2 days so I'm...

    Points in Bailey's?

Well I had 18 points today, was shaking by the time I got home from work so I can't go any lower. I am writing it off!
  10. D

    Maintaining - how many points?

Thanks everyone. Well done girls on your losses! Although I'm near goal I didn't have much to lose so it's not been too hard.
  11. D

    Points in Bailey's?

I think it's the minimum. I'm on 18 points a day which is starvation as it is! My knees are shot unfortunately so exercise is hard, as it flares them up. I've been doing too much walking and cycling so gotta have a few days off exercising. I think I might just write last night off and move on!
  12. D

    Points in Bailey's?

I can't believe it's soooo bad! I guess I will have to have 14 points a day til I've 'paid back' what I owe!
  13. D

    Points in Bailey's?

 That's nearly a whole day's points! I know you can save 4 points a day, so I will have 14 points today to help make up for it :break_diet: Thanks for replying Kitty.
  14. D

    Maintaining - how many points?

I only have 6lbs left to lose (ticker is out of date) and I wonder how many points I need to maintain? I have a big appetite so can't just go back to the way I was before or I'll put on weight. I'm 5ft6 and age 32 if that makes a difference! Target is 9st. I am allowed a measly 18pts a day to...
  15. D

    Points in Bailey's?

Hmm, I know it's not gonna be good news! I've Googled etc but can't seem to find a definite answer. Soo does anyone know how many points in a 50ml measure of Bailey's? I had 4...
  16. D

    OMG can't believe it

    That's brilliant, well done!

    Sort It Out!!!

Wow! I'm quite bad: 2 coffees before I got to work, 2 cups of tea when I get there, Coke (diet of course!) at lunch most days then coffee in the afternoon and maybe another cup of tea...
  18. D

    Sort It Out!!!

Well you're back on track now so stop beating yourself up! Don't get bogged down with small numbers - you'll be back at target soon enough. By the way, do you really drink 6 litres of pepsi a day?!

    Can I freeze SW chips?

I hadn't thought about peeling the potatoes for chips! I don't even own a peeler, I'm far too lazy! We had chips tonight - left them to cook while we went to the gym. They were
  21. D

    Something I don't understand...

Speaking of which, I pulled into the petrol station on the way home from work tonight with my gauge showing just UNDER the red!! I was very lucky!
  22. D

    Can I freeze SW chips?

Yeah, they're lush! They're already cooked so the grill crisps them up. It saves a lot of time.
  23. D

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I lost....but feel so sad!

Sorry to hear about the problems with your Dad. I didn't have a great relationship with mine (although different probs to yours) and my heart goes out to you. Is it worth trying to meet up with him to talk and sort things out once and for all?
  24. D

    Something I don't understand...

I think it's because, if you starve your body, it tries to conserve energy by slowing your metabolism down, so you burn fewer calories. I'm sure it's more scientific than that! I wouldn't stress over a short bout of illness. What matters is longer-term.

  27. D

    Can I freeze SW chips?

I microwave the potatoes whole until cooked, then grill them. This saves time, as I can stick them in the microwave whenever (night before, or before work) and just cut them and grill when I need them.

    Hello, I'm back

Ha ha I know what you mean! Everyone thinks I'm pregnant (I'm not!), especially as we've been married over 4 years now, and I was such a boozer & smoker... it's a big lifestyle change for me!

If you'll have me! I'm even trying some red days which is unusual for me! I am really motivated at the moment. I have given up drinking as I couldn't quit smoking while still having a drink at the weekend, so I am super-healthy now, although it is all a bit of a challenge, it has to be said!!

Am I doing this right? (syn calculator)

I did check the Syns online. It wasn't in there which is why I used the calculator - last resort. When the syns came out so high for a basic cheesy pasta & sauce type item, I thought I must be doing something wrong. To check, I tested it with something I did know the syns of.

I think I'm a 12. Started at a 14 and will be a 10 at target. I'm quite big boned and well built as I do a fair bit of exercise, size 8 feet etc and 5ft 6. I'd love to be a size 8 but I get a bit bony looking under 9st.
  122. D

    So, these Alpen bars

Taz, I'll keep my eye out for the citrus ones.
  123. D

    So, these Alpen bars

Thanks ladies. I know what you mean, I've gone a bit mad a few times when I've been thinking about e.g. those two Quorn sausages in the fridge for the last 50 miles home, then I get in and they're gone! My husband is doing it with me so I have to make sure there's plenty in for me as he...

Had enough of the almost constant bleeding,

I really feel I must say that I would be seriously concerned about any diet that was so shocking to my body that it put it in this state...
  125. D

    So, these Alpen bars

Is it the Alpen Light ones? That count 2 as a HEB? I bought apple & sultana today I think, six in a box, are they the right ones?
  126. D

    rivita mini's

HEs as syns are normally 6
  127. D

Could someone look a syn value up for me

Eeeeasy now!! I think I'll feed it to the husband! Thank you:flowers:
  128. D

Could someone look a syn value up for me

It's not listed so I was hoping someone could use the syn calculator for me as I don't go to class any more so don't have access to that bit of the SW website.
  129. D

Could someone look a syn value up for me

please? Not sure what info you need - it's 373 calories and 9g fat per 100g. One serving is 165g (it's a pasta n sauce type thing if you're wondering!!)
  130. D

    Quark???

I do SW and I love Quark. I stir it into a big bowl of pasta with some veg and melt cheese over it. I also like it on Ryvita with some jam on top. It's a bit like Philadelphia.
  131. D

    My Daddy's went to Heaven

My thoughts are with you. I lost my Dad over two years ago - I'm here if you need to talk.
  132. D

    Bra Size

Hey, that's OK! Having small boobs is alright as you can pad them out one day then flatten them down the next! They adapt to every occasion! The biggest I've ever gone up to is a 36A! At target I'm a 32A or AA. I would never get them 'done', although there's nothing wrong with it of course...
  133. D

Had enough of the almost constant bleeding,

I took 6 norethisterone a day and it still didn't stop my periods. I had very sore boobs though! I didn't get on with Cerazette at first but gave it another try when I was a bit lighter. I still get break through bleeding if I go over nine and a half stone. Norimin did nothing for me either...
  134. D

Had enough of the almost constant bleeding,

The only thing that's worked for me are Synarel (which ruins your joints) and Cerazette (a new mini pill). If I get too heavy though it doesn't work & I bleed again. A good incentive to keep my weight down! BTW when people's periods stop it's because they have so little body fat their body is...

My sis has had a couple to help with IBS. I can't say it's something I fancy doing!
  136. D

    Furious

How awful! I think you might be covered if you paid with CC - give them a ring to check. You need to ring them ASAP as some dodgy git has your card details - they'll just send you another card & close the old one.
  137. D

    hi

Hi, welcome to the board. I don't know the syn value i'm afraid and i'm not on the SW website as I don't go to a group, but someone here will be able to help I'm sure. Good luck!
  138. D

    Calorie

My old leader said it was roughly 1400 calories a day but obviously this varies depending on how much you can put away! I'm not big or overly sporty but I still lose on it, albeit fairly slowly. But this aint a race.
  139. D

    How many syns in...

Ah, I don't do it very often and I didn't eat anything too calorific (too busy drinking!) I'm normally a pint of lager girl so I guess I made better choices than normal! The Magners is synful but it wasn't my choice, was ordered for me by my South East colleagues who find my accent funny and...
  140. D

    How many syns in...

I only do green days - will look in my book about Success Express. I'm out for lunch today and a meal tomorrow night, so I don't think it'll be possible!
  141. D

    Hi All

    Welcome, and good luck!
  142. D

    How many syns in...

Hmmm, I guessed it might be about that!
  143. D

    How many syns in...

4 glasses of champagne, a glass of white wine, a large bottle of Magners and a gin and slimline tonic?! :sign0137:
  144. D

    OMG i cant believe it!!!

    Great news, well done!
  145. D

how to cope with eating out

At Zizzi's I had pasta arrabiatta type thing and used 2 HEBs for the olive oil in it, and had a side salad. It was lovely and not many syns I guess, unless they used more than 2 HEB worth of oil!
  146. D

    slushy does sw

Sounds like you're off to a good start. I use half wholewheat and half normal penne so you get some more goodness but not all of the wholewheat taste! (only on a Green day though)
  147. D

    Wow I actually lost weight

Oh I understand now! And I feel like a doughnut for replying when it wasn't for me, ha ha! I thought you were doing it and not losing. Well done!
  148. D

    Wow I actually lost weight

I was at target 5 years ago and went a stone and a half over. I worked that out at one pound every 3 months, so I'm not that naughty! I rejoined early Dec and lost a stone, up til end of Feb. Then I just stayed the same or lost a pound, gained a pound, etc so I quit. Kept it off then put on...
  149. D

    Wow I actually lost weight

Well done! I'm a bit worried you gained every week since Christmas!! I've done the diet before and restarted last Mon - been too scared to weigh myself so far in case I've not lost anything and get downhearted! I know everyone says it works but I guess sometimes it doesn't! It has started to...
  150. D

    Rejoined last night

Sounds like a really good group - it makes such a difference doesn't it? The time I got to target, I was a member of a group I really loved - I looked forward to going in every week and made some good friends. The consultant has left SW now, or I'd still be at her group!
  151. D

    Joined the gym

I'd love to go in the morning - I can only do that at the weekend & I really like it. Sets me up for the day. Our local council gym is only £25 a month for all gyms, classes, pools and ice skating. It's brilliant.
  152. D

    Cereal Bars

I'm going to have to get myself some of these Alpen bars, they seem very popular!

  155. D

    Joined the gym

You're right Ayla, once you start going you get hooked!
  156. D

    Cereal Bars

What about the Ryvita ones? I don't think they're that cheap either those. You can't beat HiFi bars! Again, not cheap! I wonder why they're all so expensive?!
  157. D

    A big cook-up!

Me too - no excuse when I get in late and shattered then! Curry tonight :eat: and I'm home nice and early so off for a swim now!
  158. D

It's Official - I am Back to Class Tonight

You'll be fine once you get there. My target is fairly low but I spent the first 18 years of my life slim and I know where I'm comfortable - I found people started saying "Oh you must be near or at target now" when I still had a stone to go. Everyone's different. I've got down to 9st on SW...
  159. D

Need somebody & general chit chat

For a quick meal I like pasta with Quark stirred in and cheese (HEA) melted on top. I bung in mushrooms and asparagus for the last few minutes of the pasta. It's gorgeous!

Slimming world newbie and vegan - is it possible?

What do you do for evening meal? Just not have one? I eat about 8 or 9pm...!

Slimming world newbie and vegan - is it possible?

I lost 2st on green days 5 years ago, and am losing weight on them now. They do work, its just that they go against a lot of the common misconceptions about losing weight, e.g you can't eat potatoes, pasta is fattening etc.
  163. D

    hello sw

Lol that doesn't look like much to me! I eat a lot more than that - I do have a big appetite though. My goal is 9st too - which is what I got down to for my wedding 4 years ago, again with SW. It's 5 years since I was at my target so it's taken me a while to gain weight! I was 1.5st over...
  164. D

    Not losing weight

I don't weigh myself that much as I want to see losses or I get demotivated - if I only weigh myself once or twice a month I'm more likely to see a loss and stay motivated.
  165. D

    A big cook-up!

I do Slimming World because I love carbs - I don't know much about low carbing. Is it like South Beach diet? Is there maybe a Low Carb Diet board on Minimins?
  166. D

    Not losing weight

11lbs in 5 weeks is twice as fast as I lose it! Keep going - it really does work.
  167. D

    A big cook-up!

Good lord, the amount I cooked, it'll last us for days! There's only a certain amount I can fit in, ha ha! We had pasta for dinner - I have to stop my husband eating the lot!
  168. D

Weigh in - Week 1 (SW)

Fabulous!! Well done! It took me 2 months to lose that on SW, I need to know your secret, lol!
  172. D

    Body Magic Awards

Janey, you can start off with a gentle walk once or twice a week. I find if I think "Right, I'm going to do this every day this week" etc then I fail then think "Sod it!". Best to build up slowly. You'll notice getting fitter quite quickly, and the speedier weight loss will spur you on.
  173. D

    hiya,i love crisps

Really? Surely they're just potato & Fry Light?!
  174. D

    Hi

Welcome. I'm new too (to the boards, I'm an old hand at SW!) Good luck.
  175. D

    hello sw

Drop the guilt girl and cook up a big bowl of cheesy pasta! I lost nearly 2st on SW before I got married - it took me a couple of months but I can't 'do' deprivation so it's the only diet for me! I travel a lot with work & stay away - I have Weetabix for breakfast (Healthy A for milk & B for...

    1st meeting

Well done. It's the hardest step isn't it?
  177. D

    Website password?

I hadn't thought of it like that. I did used to get one or two takeaways a week! Never been that big on sweets or choc as we weren't allowed them as kids but show me a chicken madras, peshwari naan, fried rice, chicken pakora, few poppadoms and a couple of pints...!
  178. D

    Smoked Mackerel

I'd syn it to be on the safe side. 2.5 isn't bad is it! I love mackerel.
  179. D

Thinking of swopping to Slimming World

I love SW. I lose 1lb a week on average, but I'm not a fast loser! When I went to class, people lost a lot of weight and a lot faster than I did. It all depends on how much of a lifestyle change it is for you I think, and how much you have to lose - like any diet if you only have a few pounds to...
  180. D

    doin CD on the cheap!!!!!

It's hard to say what you'd look like at a certain weight if you've not weighed it! I'm only 5ft6 too, and look OK at 10st, not emaciated as I'm not tall.
  181. D

    healthy extra B querie

But would one lose any weight, having that many extra syns a week? In the past I have saved them up for the weekend for a drink or 5. (didn't lose much weight though!)
  182. D

How do you cope with the PMT munchies?

I take the Pill so don't have this problem, but when I did I used to have a coffee with lots of milk and a High Lights choc sachet in it.
  183. D

    doin CD on the cheap!!!!!

What an interesting thread. I've just spent ages reading all of it! Someone at work said to me recently, while I was tucking into a baguette "Gosh, with all you eat you should be about 10 stone!". I said, "Er, I am!" You can't always tell what people weigh by looking at them. In reply to...
  184. D

is there a cheap way of doing a vlcd

Hi Nicky, you're really near me! I live in Old Town. As soon as you said 'on site Starbucks' it rang a bell! The canteen there is amazing - I couldn't work in that building, I'd be the size of a house!
  185. D

Only a little to loose? anyone...

I'm in a similar boat as I only have 1st to lose (lost half a stone already). Turning 30 is OK once you get it out the way! I did it last year. At least you are doing something positive towards losing weight rather than just feeling unhappy in yourself - it's a journey remember.
  186. D

    syns in subway sandwiches???

Isn't it white bread though? So can't be counted as a HEB? I've never had a Subway, am I missing something? Actually, don't tell me!
  187. D

What to eat at Trafford Centre?

 Sounds like my kind of shopping trip!

    Body Magic Awards

thanks, it seems like a nice place, think I might stick around! Hope I can contribute something. Yes but everyone loves a sticker! I loved getting mine for each half a stone or Slimmer of the Week. I have always exercised a lot, I just drank more wine than I could make up for! lol
  191. D

    Website password?

Thank you so much for looking that up, it's really nice of you. Yes I love those syn free ones, especially the Thai ones, but these noodles were only 17p a packet so I thought it was worth a shot! Thanks again

    Website password?

I thought that might be the case. I used to go to the group but it's not for me so I stopped - I wanted to check some Syns online. Looks like I'll have to join the postal group or web if they have it. Thank you.
  194. D

    Body Magic Awards

My consultant sometimes mentions Body Magic, but doesn't really say anything about it, and has never offered any awards as far as I can see. I gave up recording exercise when I realised I wouldn't get any stickers (how sad!)
  195. D

    Website password?

Hello, I'm new, just registered and I wonder if this may not be the 'done thing' as I've had a look and can't see it anywhere - does anyone have this week's online password?
