    Down days and having a virus

    I've had chronic Labyrinthitis and it's horrible so I can sympathise. Have you tried ginger tea as sipping on it can help with nausea. Also, has your doc prescribed anything for you? Stemetil is whaat I was on, and travel sickness tablets can also help - Stugeron in particulaar I found helped x

    Wowsers! So many new people, it's great! My only advice is to say be as strict as you possibly can be on DDs and enjoy your UDs, eating what you want when you feel hungry. Part of the reason this diet works is that you don't have to stress over calorie counting half of the time :-)

    That's right Ruth, you can work out your lowest down day calories using the calculator on the website, but Dr J says 500 cals on a DD should be fine for anyone and then you eat normally without intentionally overeating on an up day. Hubby and I eat out a lot and this works very well for me...

    Hi there. I'm veggie and back at WW after trying some other diets. I eat a lot of quorn which is low in points and, of course, most vegetables are 0 points! Cheese is quite high though so eating out can be a pain as lots of restaurant veggie food is cheesy.

    Hi Rebecca and welcome. The book is great and really explains well how the diet works. I admit that I find down days hard to stick to but, when I do, I lose an average of 2-3lbs a week. It's a great diet and it has health benefits above and beyond weight loss. Good luck with your JUDDD journey x

    Hi Danii On your up days you eat what you want when you want - you don't count calories. Exercising on an up day is an excellent idea. Yes, the plan is perfectly safe, it's been medically tested to have benefits over and above weight loss. Good luck x

    Had an interesting meal with mum - she has dementia so can behave very erratically. Lost 2lbs this week so I'm happy with that. No plans for mothers day - my son lives in London so will be talking to him on the phone but that's all. Hope you have a lovely mother's day x

    I did a VLCD for a month quite some time ago and survived it but don't have the willpower to do it full time. Also, i like to have an evening meal with hubby - it's where we mull over the events of the day :) DD today so had 2 cups of tea so far. Dinner will be spicy tomato and lentil soup.

    Thanks. I have six more stones to lose. I don't count calories on an up day and I'm not good at estimating but I normally have cereals and milk for breakfast, something like a tuna salad for lunch and then my evening meal.

    Took me a few dds to get used to feeling hungry but now it's just a habitual thing. I also find I'm not as hungry on up days either which is a great side effect :)

    I just have cups of tea throughout the day and a tin of soup in the evenings - about 250 calories. If I'm really hungry in the evening I treat myself to an Options hot choc - 40 cals.

    Not too bad but I do get hungry on down days. I lost a stone in the first 3 weeks but stayed the same this week so trying not to feel too disheartened. It's a great diet though and I love the ability to eat what I want on up days - never been a calorie counter so this is perfect for me.

    It's quite easy. You alternate up days and down days. On a down day you follow a VLDC - 500 cals max and on an up day you can eat what you want. Losses are about 2-3lb a week as long as you don't go too mad on an up day.
