How do people plan on not regaining the weight? I lost alot on a VLCD before, and over time re-gained it, and more. I really dont want this to happen again.

good question hun, i've never done a vlcd before so interested to find this out too x

I had to accept that I would be effectively on a diet for the rest of my life. I stick to a certain number of calories every day and I exercise vigerously at least 3 times a week. I think of myself as a thin person and I have a top acceptable weight - if I go above that I reduce my daily calories until I'm back down again. I don't drink. I am always aware of what I am eating and drinking and keep a tally in my head of the calories I have had through the day.

I know it doesn't sound like much fun but strangely enough I rather enjoy it! I am in control now. I love the exercise. I am off on an activity holiday in a few weeks. I couldn't have done that before. I celebrate the new ings I can do now and actively look for new ones - such as rock climbing.

I maintained with paleo ate a lot of calories never was hungry and maintained I just kept an eye on my carbs

Breakfast woukd be 500 to 600 calories a day plus all my other meals.

So ill return to paleo to maintain again

Yes when I get to my goal weight, I am not going to let those old habits come back, I think yes only way is to be aware of what you eat and drink everyday and exercise. I am going to try my best to be really good all week and if I have plans on the weekend not to worry to much and enjoy it but get back on plan the next day. I will follow the refeed plan first until I find a Plato my body is happy with, not losing and not gaining. I think the maintaining is going to be harder that the losing.

I think the best way is to find out your daily calorie allowance for your weight and activity level as a lot of people think they actually can consume more than their body needs. Example we are advised to eat 2000 cals a day as women but most of us actually only need about 1400 calories a day, so therefore once those extra 600 calories a day add up to 3500 then there's another pound added to your weight. Oh, and watch your carbs.
