Anyone know if we can have monster zero ultra energy drink?

Hi Slimandsavers was shopping today and saw monster energy drinks there was one available called monster energy zero ultra, I looked it up on myfitness pal and there's no calories, no sugar, just 1 carb per 250ml so 2 carbs for the whole can. Does anyone know if we are allowed this drink? help would be appreciated.

Check the ingredients, as if it contains citric acid then it could push you out of ketosis! You're best off contacting Rob and asking him directly to be honest. Be interested to know what he says tho x

For me it's not even the citric acid that would put me off to be honest. It's the carbs, I don't want to add in extra carbs and I certainly don't want to add in all that caffeine. Not good on a diet like this, can affect your losses.

Can it?! I haven't heard that caffine can negatively impact your losses. I always drank plenty of coffee. What's the evidence for this?

Having said that I wouldn't fancy the drink either - all those chemicals - yuk!

Apparently so! I emailed S&S about my losses because they seemed to slow down a bit and Rob said to me about cutting out fizzy drinks and drinks with lots of caffeine in as they can affect losses. I don't really have much of either though. I'll have a google, see what I can come up with!

Is Caffeine Bad For Weight Loss? | LIVESTRONG.COM
"Caffeine and Low Carb DietsCaffeine is discouraged on low carb diets for two reasons. First, Dr. Robert Atkins believes that caffeine adversely affects blood sugar which will lead to sugar cravings. And second, although most people assume coffee is carb-free, it is not. A 6-oz. serving of coffee has .8 g of carb. Because the FDA allows manufacturers to round down on Nutrition Facts labels, most products say they contain 0 carbs. So the average 16-oz. coffee from the coffee shop actually contains more than 2 g of carbs. This may not seem like a lot, but the induction phase of the Atkins diet calls for no more than 10 to 12 g of carbs daily. Visit the coffee shop twice and you've consumed 30 percent of your carbs for the day."

Lots of different responses about it online though so I really don't know!

Well, it's down to each person and how they react to it. I've always drunk copious amounts of coffee and always will. On a previous Lighter Life attempt I still managed to lose 11 stone while drinking a bucket of coffee per day - so I'm not giving it up!

Makes the diet bareable as well, I have to keep some sort of vice :D

Interesting stuff! I guess with Atkins induction asking for only 10 to 12g of carbs a day (really?! wow!!) it could cause a problem - but I think you'd have to drink a load on SnS to have a problem - I guess it depends on how sentitive you are to carbs. Worth remembering next time someone posts that they're not losing much.

Remember Atkins don't include everything in their carb count do they-there is some formula or other depending on the item! Hence the low target-they subtract 'polyols' whatever they are

That's true, it'll probably impact you far more on something like Atkins, good point weasy didn't think of that. I've never really seen any difference if I have caffeine but then I don't have much. It's just something that Rob from S&S said, maybe it's a a bit like citric acid, will affect some and not others depending on how sensitive you are to it.

I love my coffee and teas, would be hard to do without them, I'm quite bored of coke zero, and thought this drink could give me an energy boost, but as someone has posted it does contain citric acid, so I won't risk it.
I know citric acid affects my losses as I started to eat beef jerky as a snack and it stalled my losses it was only after reading the tiny print that i realised it had citric acid in .

I didn't realise that about beef jerky. I had a pack last week as I was stranded with no food and feeling sick and had a pack I bought months ago in my drawrer at work. Mind you, I was blo*dy exhausted after I ate it. So........much...........chewing...........
