Hi

I have been trying off and on for years to lose weight, I cannot seem to stick with anything or be motivated etc
I have had enough and think part of the issue is that I need to just have something very easy and strict to follow - for example WW - I tried and just went over my points every day etc, I think just knowing exactly what I have for the day and sticking to it will work.
Anyway I really like the idea of Slimfast, I was very anti all this kinda thing a while ago but to be honest I am overweight and need to put my self on track for health and happiness reasons...I was worried it was unhealthy, but being 4 stone overweight is hardly healthy is it??
Sorry waffling I know.
I am planning on starting on Monday, I have ordered my Slimfast and just hoping for some support, someone to tell me it works, someone to say they have coped etc
Any thoughts or advice welcome
Thanks

Hello! It works if you stick to it! I have not been 100% but i have lost 13lbs in 5 weeks. I find that i have to weigh and measure so that i dont go over my calories. I have another 5st or so to lose too. Might not all be using SF but this is a good way to start!
Good luck xxx

Thank you for the response, it was appreciated and very inspirational - well done you thats a really exciting weight loss!
I am 16 1/2 stone and for my height (5ft 9) I am supposed to be around 11 1/2 or something - my first mini goal is 15 then 14 1/2 with my ideal around 12 1/2 stone I think - but for now ANYTHING below 16 would be immense!!!!

I have been trying to lose weight for years so I've tried alot of diets but nothing seemed to work so I've started calorie counting and using slimfast. I lost 5lbs in my first week and I find it easy to stick to. I'm sure you'll do brilliant Best of Luck with it :)

Judt after having my daughter I tipped the scales at 17st. Im 5ft7 so i felt huge! I managed to get down to 16st3lbs by christmas and have started again from new year. I am now at 15st4.5lbs so it does work! I am now finding the shakes a bit boring so i substitute for a low calorie meal on occasion!
You will get below 16st in the next 2-3 weeks!! Slower loss is better! Good luck xxx

I too used to be against this type of diet, but to be honest if you look at the content of shakes, I bet we are getting a much better nutritional value than all of these fad diets ! What works for one doesn't always work for another, I started last July and in 12 weeks I lost 21 lb. I fell off the wagon during November, gained 3 lb over Christmas and started again just over 2 weeks ago and lost 5 lb, so I am now 1 lb off loosing 2 stone.
I like slim fast because I only have to think about 1 meal, I used to do slimming world and food was an obsession, thinking about it, planning it, shopping for it, my god I knew what I was eating from the time I got up to the time I went to bed 4 days in advance !! And really got fed up with it !
Personally I try and stay away from bread, which I find easier to do while on SF, and also keep processed foods to a minimum.
Good luck
Claire

Hi all, hope you don't mind me jumping on thread?
I've been doing slimming world on and off for last 3 years. I lost 3 and half stone then in August last year I stopped completely! I re-joined after new year but since jan I've lost 8lb and 5 of that was first week. I tend to stay the same or lose 1/2lb here and there. I have been seriously frustrated and getting so fed up after being told to eat more fruit and veg so I did, then told to cut out bananas!!! Done all what I was told and still stayed the same so decided to try something different.
I decided to give slim fast a go as I wanted to not have to think about food for a while.
So..... first day today. Had my 2 shakes and 2 100 cal snacks and just eaten a ready meal of 312 calls with pitta bread 154 cals.
Would love to know how everyone is progressing and what sort if losses I can expect and do you think my first day sounds ok?
:) :) :)

You're doing well so far but you really need to try and have the full 600 cals for your meal. Losses i'd say anywhere from .5lb to 2lbs a week. First week is always a good loss as its water weight.

HTH and welcome to SF :)

Thanks Loser85 :)

I thought that the less calories I could eat on my 600 calorie meal, the better?
I'm on my second day today and have found it easier than I thought I would.

Also, I have ordered some zero noodles from Holland and Barrett after seeing them mentioned in another thread. Does anyone have any advice/recommendations about them?
:)

I lost four stone years ago on Slimfast so always end up coming back to it. At the moment though I am on Ultraslim (Tesco) which I find doesn't mix so well so I blend it and add a little ice and water which is just something I like to do. I enjoy the shakes which helps. Hate having to think too much about what I'm going to have for breakfast and lunch so ideal for me. My mother in law goes to a well known slimming club and although she has done really well she is obsessed and talks about nothing but her weight and what she is going to eat. I haven't even told her I'm dieting :)

Well done Housecat!!!
That is quite impressive. And, reassuring that you come back to SF when you need to as you know it works.
This is my first attempt. I tried Cambridge Diet a few years ago but really struggled, couldn't get past day two;) lol.

I know what you mean about not telling people. My mom knows and that's it which I prefer as I want to see if people notice that I'm losing weight (if I do)
I weigh in tomorrow. I know I will only be on 3rd day but my usual weigh in day is Thursday and when I weighed myself yesterday morning before starting, I was still the same as last thurs. and I thought if I could see a small result after a couple of days then it would spur me on if I was struggling!

Always eat your full quota of calories, using less does not work ! Your body is quite happy shedding the pounds if you treat it well, if you start to deprive your body it says hang on a minute I'm not getting what I need here so I'm going to hang on to what I've got !

well done its my second day today i too have been doing slimming world but due to family problems and being put on antidepressants i had gained a stone in weight and the thought of how long it took me to lose on sw really got me down so thought i would give sf ago then eventually return to eating healthy with sw my weigh day is a friday but already i see problems its mine and hubbys birthday friday and sunday and my daughter has booked a table to take us for a meal on sat night maybe i started on the wrong day but really didnt want to gain anymore weight :(

Hello! I just started Slim Fast too, and, as with the others, I have been anti-slim fast for years, looking at it as some sort of crappy fad diet. However, I think one of my problems is that I either dont have time/not hungry/ too lazy to make breakfast and lunch so I eat a ton at night. With the shakes and meal bars, I dont have to think about what I am eating, just my snacks and my dinner. It makes it a lot easier :) Not to mention that the slimfast meal products are loaded with vitamins. Im trying to supplement the diet with plenty of fruits and veggies, to keep my hunger in check.
