I'm Jamie, I'm 23 and I'm determined this year IS my year. I feel like I'm not getting any young and Ive lost erthe best years of my life to being a fat lazy pig. When I left school at 16 and in the summer before I started college, I was on the cusp of skinny, I was a size 12-14 and I was going to the gym and eating well. Then college came along, having my own money to spend and having to get the bus there early meant waiting around in the cafe, and I pigged out on rubbish. Bars of chocolate and bottles of Dr Pepper from the vending machines, Subway sarnies followed by chocolate from the Sainsburys local or the canteen, or baguettes or pasties and cream cakes from Dunkers. It all went down the toilet. I could have been a healthy skinny 20 something, but no, the food spiral got MAHOOSIVE!!!!!!! I went from 11 stone to more than 18 stone in less than 5 years. I will never be that skinny 16 year old again and it saddens me but I have to look forward to whats left. I joined slimming world in April 2012 and loved it. the friends I made there I will always remember. But I definitely could do better in terms of sticking to plan and losing weight. this is the year that I stick to p;an and that weight will come off. I am now 16 stone 10 now and I will never be this fat again.

Hey Jamie! Sounds like we have a lot in common. I'm 21 and, similar to you, I gained the majority of my weight in the last year of school and throughout college. I don't know what I was at my lightest, but I eventually ballooned up to 15st by the time I decided to join SW.

It has not been an easy ride from me - I have been up and down, for various reasons, but this is the year I'm going to really knuckle down and shift the rest of the weight. Up to now, I have lost just over 2st. My lowest ever weight since joining SW was 12st 7.5lb, and I have 1.5lb to lose until I get back to that (I gained a lot over Christmas / New Year). I don't have a definite target weight, but I think I'd like to be somewhere around the 10st mark.

Reading through your post, it could have been me writing it! I know exactly how you feel, and how tough it can be at times. I've had some fantastic support from Mini's (as well as my Consultant and group), and I'm sure you'll receive exactly the same. You have already done so well getting down to the 16's! Wishing you every ounce of luck throughout the rest of your journey xx

thnkyou! i love SW so much, seeing all my new friends and suppporting each other has made me want to lose this weight. i have had some quite big ups and downs as well. especially if I've just stuck to plan and then not done so good that can put you on a downer. my group have an excellent fb page as well so we can all chat during the week. Princess_Stevie this WILL be our year!!! I am only little so I want to get to the 7.5/8st mark. i think my absolute saving grace on SW is diet drinks or flavoured water, not like those other carb hating diet books that won't let you drink anything but water!

I do too, I would be totally lost without SW. Have tried so many diets in the past and found them all too restrictive for me. I am a SW girl through and through :D

You sound so determined and positive - you will do this. Which day do you get weighed? xx

mondays. i managed 2.5 off this week. and that was in 4 days. I had to go to a group on thursday last week due to snow

That's fantastic, well done!! I get weighed Tuesdays, so I'm there tonight. In the last two weeks I've lost 6lb, but had a bit of a slip up this week so not sure what will happen tonight. I am ready for whatever the scales will through at me though. Line drawn :) xx

yeah you can't sulk otherwise you go on a downer and put on some more, I'm speaking from experience!!!! i shouldn't say this but you can have a treat the night of weigh in and still have an amazing loss.

I don't like the whole "weigh night black hole" thing. I mean, if I want a treat after I get weighed I'll save some Syns up and Syn whatever I'm having, rather than just eating it and hoping it doesnt affect the following weeks weigh in.

I only say this as I know from past experience that these cheats that may work quite well in the beginning wont work forever. When I was 15st I could get away with it. I would come home from group and eat a McDonalds / Chip Shop / Takeaway with a bottle or two of non-diet fizzy pop and a couple of bars of chocolate afterwards. I still lost at first, but the more weight I lost I realised it wouldn't always work like that. My losses began to slow down, sometimes even stop, all because of a mad binge after WI.

Now I still have a "treat", but it's all Synned and accounted for. For example, there are McDonalds' meals you can have for 20 Syns. That's only 5 Syns over your daily allowance, so not a great deal to have to save throughout the week. I think that's one thing which has really helped me to have such good losses lately xx

Oh, I wasn't telling you off!! I was just saying, what may work now might not work as you get closer to target. In fact, it can have the opposite effect.

With regards to the fizzy pop, it's Mountain Dew I used to drink. They don't do that in a diet variety, so it's either have the full fat version or dont have it at all. When I used to treat weigh night as a bit of a cheat night Syns didn't bother me at all. Hence why it has taken me so long to get where I am now.

I hope I didn't sound like I was "telling you off". I was just trying to give some advice based on my own past experience.

Yeah I normally drink diet sodas, it was just in my "weigh day binge days" past that I used to drink the full fat stuff after being weighed.
I try to drink plenty of water, but I do love Monster Zero Sugar or Tesco's Diet KX (their own brand energy drink). I love energy drinks, I'm so pleased they come in a diet variety or I'd be stuck!

same with me! i just cannot stomach plain water it makes me gag. i tried to drink nothing but water f 2 weeks and i was sick everyday, don't know how your body is supposed to get used to it! i have a medical condition which means i ghet more thirsty so if there werent diet drinks i'd be lost.

aargh! well atm i am foneless! I was sat at my grandmas as i do on a tuesday afternoon because they have a big family and tuesday is the day we all congregate there. my phone was on the arm of the chair. the chair was pushed fairly close to another chair and a table. my phone got a message and started vibrating, it somehow vibrated off the arm of the chair. I was unaware of the fact that my 3year old cousins piddle filled potty was between the 2 chairs, you can guess what happened next!!!!! so annoyed!!!!!! but anyway...breakfast was bacon and smoked salmon and tomatoes on toast. dinner was a pot of fat free toffee yoghurt and 30grams cheddar, dinner was chilli and rice and i had a curly wurly think i will have some more ff yoghurt. mayve a few more syns as well spent on sugary stuff!!! sooooooooooo stressed!!!!!!!

i sorted the phone problem out but new phone won't let me go on internet!! grr! ive had a stressful week what with these pigs trying to get my disabled dad back to work! had boiled egg on toast for breakfast and chicken salad sandwich for dinner. i want a low syn pizza by using warburtons sandwich thins but i froze the bread because I don't eat them often as theyre syns but whether dad has thrown it away or not we shall see. I love this pizza because you feel like you are eating pizza, not eating cheese and veg on toast!!! grill the outside of the sandwich thins, then open them out and spread some tomato puree on them, top with your healthy extra a choice of cheese and some free veg. grill until cheese has melted. delicious with syn free chips and beans.

I'm having pizza for tea tomorrow, as a Friday "treat". I make mine with a Weight Watchers tortilla wrap. It's round so, visually, it's even more like a pizza. And the base goes lovely and crispy! I can't wait now xx

Yummy! how many syns is tortilla? i think I would cut it smaller though to make my cheese go further. i had my pizza it was nice but i used light cheese and it didn't melt that well. i might have another one tomorrow with the lower quantity of full fat cheese. its worth it because you don't get the same flavour with the light cheese. I don't have scales so i buy the m and s 30gram bar of cheddar and grate it its really delish!

They're only 5.5 each, so really low for a decent sized pizza! I use low low grated cheese. It's the only pre-grated cheese that counts as a B choice. You get 40g as it's reduced fat, but it doesn't taste like it. It has loads of flavour and 40g is more than enough to do a pizza. I couldn't live without my kitchen scales though! It must be a nightmare xx
