Diary of a menopausal Yorkshire lass...

Right then...
I'm 48 and 4 weeks (how the heck did that happen?) and I've pretty much been on a diet since I was 16!

My diet of choice - and most success - was weight watchers, but I'm finding I'm not able to eat enough to keep my raging hormones and mood swings at bay, so thought I'd try slimming world and all it's lovely carbs. I did it once before, somewhere back in the dark ages before EE and managed ok, what is worrying me a bit now is all the fruit and veg as I'm not really a lover of it, but am going to try and eat more.

If there is anyone out there who wants to be my diet buddy, I could do with all the help I can get :wave_cry: as I'm doing it on my own rather than going to meetings.

I'm really impressed with what I've read on here and hope that keeping a food diary might just help me to stay on track.

I'm 11 stone 2 pounds and want to get to about 9 and a half,
wish me luck :)

Love
Mandy x

Have spent the morning looking for meal ideas and have popped out to Asda to get some bits to put me on until I get my proper shop.

I still can't decide if I should do EE or green?

Breakfast - fruit and fibre with milk

Lunch - Asda pea and mint soup pack - very yummy and good way to have veg.

Have you tried blitzing veg & then adding it to your food, it may be easier to digest. Are there any veggies you like? Peas, sweetcorn, tomatoes, anything?

If you are struggling to have 1/3 superfree why not try red or green days. Also you don't need to have 1/3 veggies with your meal you could have a fruit salad as a dessert instead.

Hi Michelle

Thanks for your message.

I like peas, carrots, sweetcorn and parsnips, but am I right in thinking there is only carrots in that lot that are superfree? I'm ok with other stuff if I chop it up really small and put it in bolognese or chilli. I just look at other peoples plates piled high with salad and veg and think I'm not getting enough, but I suppose owt is better than nowt lol.

I thought you still had to have the 1/3 plate of superfree even with red or green?

Are they really? I could eat birdseye's petits pois until they came out of my ears lol.
Thank's for the lunch ideas, I need to get more organised. I have a food flask at the back od a cupboard somewhere, I'll dust that off and start getting up 5 minutes earlier x

Hi Mandyboo, I have found you :)

I am here to subscribe and would be happy to be your diet buddy! I go to class so can help you with little bits hopefully!

I must admit it was only last night I said to my OH that I'm getting bored of having to think of different things to have for lunch but I do think I have quite a variety which you will be able to follow from my food diary x

Yay!
I'll be able to pick your brains if I get stuck.

The problem I have with lunch is we only have a kettle at work that I'll use, we do have a microwave, but that's enough to put you off food for life - eww!

Haha I can imagine as we have quite a lot of people use our microwaves and often have to give them a wipe down before food goes in them! I use the microwave a lot at work as I also have jackets, pasta bakes, left overs from night before, beans, omelettes.....I know I'm quite lucky that I have these facilities at work x

I work in a garage and I'm the only female, I'm sure you can imagine the state grubby mechanics leave a microwave in. I've actually thought about buying a cheap one for my office and putting a lock on it lol. They've even been known to 'borrow' my plates and cutlery because they can't be bothered to wash up.
Men!!

Hi Mandy good to have found your diary, you remind me of my daughter she hates veg and fruit and managed to lose 17 lb last year at slimmingworld.
id be quite happy to be your diet buddy too. Do you have access to sw online its great for the syns, if not ask away because i have a niece thats doing it from home too and im always looking things up for her so its no bother.
do you mind if i ask what is homepride bacon and tomato pasta bake,is it a sauce for over your pasta ? whats the syns ?

It's good to know your daughter did so well...did she follow EE?
I joined SW online, but my subscription is about to run out. I've downloaded all the pdf's and have the 2013 brand directory so use those, it'll be good to have someone to ask if I get stuck though - thanks for that.

I get the jars of homepride pasta bake, you mix dried pasta and water with it and bung it in the oven. The tomato and bacon one is 7.5 syns for 1/3 of the jar and you can put more pasta in than the instructions say, I use a hex of cheese on top. It's easy, yummy and my husband likes it too.

I try to aim for 10 a day but doesn't always work out like that....some days I will have all 15 and other days I will have under 5 but as long as I don't go over the 105 weekly allowance then that's all I'm bothered about x

Hi Mandy,
I am new to this site and will probably need help with computer stuff at first. I usually only go online to do shopping, get recepie ideas and book holidays. So i am not complety a numpty to computers. I know a fair bit about slimming world. So would consider being your diet buddy. I am looking to loose a stone and a bit. I am a bit heavier than you by 5lbs! I would like to go down to 10 stone 4lbs. I have lost over 2 stone in the past and kept it off but unfortunately not lost anymore. So looking to focus on healthy eating. So if you are interested let me know. I am just not sure what i do now on this site. Looks like "post quick reply" Lets see what happens?

Hi there!

Welcome - the more the merrier. I'm still learning how all this works too, it's a huge site to find your way round at first, but everyone is very friendly and helpful, so if you need help with anything just give us a shout.

Mandy x
