Deep Breath, Here We Go..

So, my sister in law has lost a staggering 8.5 stone on slimming world, and to be honest I was and still am amazed at her success, and decided I want a piece of that action.

for the last year, I have been calorie counting and it was working. Overall I lost 35lbs, but after being diagnosed with pernicious anaemia (and being off work for a month) I have managed to put on 10lbs. I couldn't find the motivation to restart the calorie counting so sat on the sofa on Saturday night I decided I would take the plunge and sign up to slimming world online. I won't lie, it's the wrong time of year (I am out five separate times this week for dinner!) but my theory is at least I can make good choices on the days I am not out; and the days I am out at least I am educating myself so come January 1st I will be on it and completely clued up.

So as I am confused, somewhat but healthy extras (do you have to have them?) and the fact I just seem to be eating... I decided I would log a diary on here (hope that's ok) and some of my thoughts.

Sunday, 15th

no breakfast today (bad me) but instead made a rough meal plan for the week and headed off to Tesco as soon as it opened.

Lunch was chicken (Breast no skin) and rice. Made enough for four portions.

dinner was pasta, chorizo (I had some left) and pesto (had some of that left too) and garlic bread (great start eh!)

total sins for today 19.5

Monday 16th

Breakfast

35g Dorset nutty muesli (healthy extra b) with fat free yoghurt

Lunch

Chicken and rice

Dinner

pasta
chicken and passata

snack

muller light toffee (free)
few slices of tesco wafer thin smoked ham (no syns I believe)
Vending machine hot chocolate (put this as 1 syn but I am not sure)

so, I haven't had any of my Healthy Extra A today (and am quite full). Do I need it?

Bad bad bad day today but I knew it would be.

breakfast

35g Dorset simply nutty muesli (healthy extra b)
fat free natural yoghurt (free)

snack

muller light vanilla and dark chocolate yoghurt (free)

lunch

bruschetta (tgi, only managed half the bread it was a ciabatta loaf)
chicken tenders and chips

IF I eat anything else today it will be pickled egg and some wafer thin ham (but the thought of food at the moment is making me feel queasy).

drank two bottles of evian and four diet cokes (all free)

yet another meal out tomorrow... I am quite looking forward to Jan to give it 100%

To be honest I really struggle with fruit and vegetables... I have never eaten them so it's a case of training my body to "like" them as I go. I am making improvements as I would never have even touched passata a few months ago.

Today - yet another Christmas meal

normal breakfast of my cereal (heb) and fat free natural yoghurt

lunch consisted of kedgeree (boiled egg and wrapped in haddock with a scallop balanced on top) and then I made a choice of cod fillet and mash for main with rocket, red onion and tomato.

problem is, I am not sure how any of it was cooked (bar the cod which was roasted). What should I syn?

and then I had a sticky toffee pudding. I know I know, but I am not good with peer pressure. I did only eat half though... Still very very naughty.

My find tomorrow is all going to be syn free so I can recoup some of the damage.

So today... all meals have been planned out.

Breakfast

Muller Light Coconut Yoghurt
35g Dorset Nutty Museli (heb)

Lunch

Pasta (free)

Cottage Cheese (free)

May be a case of another muller light and an apple for dessert/snack. Going to also try to get to the shops to get some lettuce to go with my potato as OH finished it all up yesterday.

HI!
I cant believe I havent seen your thread before!
Yes you do need to have your Hex a&b (if you hadnt already found that out)
You're doing really well, especially for this time of year. I would say that you do need to up your super frees or the plan wont work very well. It needs you to eat a variety of food to work. If youre having pasta with passata could you grate a carrot or courgette (or both) into it, you get the veg without being able to tell its there. Onion is a good one to, could you chop that up and add it? or add some chopped up spinach? Sweetcorn isnt superfree (unless its BABY corn on the cob) neither are peas of any kind, such a bummer when I found THAT one out!

Also what are you having to drink? Just make sure you drink enough water, count any milk or anything you have in coffee etc. as a lot of people over look this.

Hope you had a lovely slimming friendly christmas.x.x.

I seem to have missed some days...

I am getting better with my veg; adding onion and sweetcorn into things. I think it's going to be a case of adding them in but by bit and getting used to the flavours.

so, Friday... Back to work (boo)

Breakfast

35g simply nutty
muller light vanilla yoghurt

lunch

tuna
sweetcorn
onion
pasta
cottage cheese

dinner

potato
chicken
passata
carrots

snack

ham (I think I'm addicted)

OH was having a chocolate craving so we tried to mix in an options with vanilla yoghurt and freeze... Didn't really work so made some more tonight using natural yoghurt, a spoon of Splenda to sweeten, and the an options. We will see how that goes.

today

Lunch

pasta
ham
fromage frais
egg

Dinner

passata
bell peppers (yum)
garlic
chicken
rice

snack

pickled onion
muller light
ham
laughing cow extra light cheese triangle.

good news though; I brought a chip cutter (£1 in Asda bargain and it's fab) and a vegetable slicer thing (£8 in Asda, finely chops most veg). So... Shouldn't be any excuses now not to add vegetables to meals.

abisaurus - thanks for your comments, hope you had a lovely Xmas :)
