Starting again - need to do this for my wedding!

Hello,

I joined here a few months ago but unfortunately fell of the wagon again. After having some success with Weight Watchers first time round after having my second baby in 2011, I put all the weight back on and then some. Tried it again a few months ago but just didn't work - not blaming WW, more that I just couldn't get 'in the zone' really.

So I've decided to try a new approach and try something completely different! A couple of friends have had good results with Slimming World, I'd always written it off as being too complicated but I popped round to my friend's last week and had a look through her booklets etc and realised it didn't sound as hard as I thought!

I joined the gym last week and had decided to just cut out all the crap I usually eat and be more sensible with my choices etc. Doing that for a week (and been to the gym 3 times) I've lost 2.5lb so now I'm going to try SW and see how that goes, hopefully I'll get the same sort of loss. To be honest I keep panicking and thinking how the hell will I lose weight when I'm eating all this stuff that was so many points on WW?! For instance yesterday I had a jacket potato and beans for lunch - can't get my head round the fact that a jacket potato is free on SW but a whopping 8 pp on WW! But let's give it a go and see.

I've been really motivated since I started this (gym and healthy eating), much more than ever before - probably helps that my wedding is now less than 5 months away! We fly to Greece on 31st May and the wedding is 5th June. I really need to stick at this now because I don't want to look back on wedding pictures and hate how I looked. I'm a 12-14 at the moment and just far too many wobbly bits and trousers being too tight etc! I also always get a chubby face when there's too much weight on me!

Will start keeping a log of my food on here so I can keep track...

ETA: Just to add, I am following the Extra Easy plan, and am going to start off with 10 syns a day and see how I get on with that.

So yesterday (when I officially started SW):

Saturday 11 January 2014

Breakfast
Nothing. Oops! I hadn't been food shopping and hadn't got anything suitable in!

Lunch
Jacket potato and beans, no butter (so all free). I should have eaten the salad with it but I really didn't fancy it..

Dinner

Steak, SW chips, egg (fried in Frylight), processed peas, carrots (so all free, and carrots were superfree)
I had a Galaxy Ripple for 'dessert' = 8.5 syns

Also had 2 Mikado chocolate biscuit stick things = 1 syn

Didn't manage to have any Healthy Extras so need to make an effort to incorporate those.

Total syns: 9.5

Breakfast
Weetabix and semi skimmed milk (Healthy Extras a and b) and sliced banana (free)

Lunch
Mugshot - Thai style noodles
Mullerlight yogurt - orange with choc sprinkles

Dinner
Chicken breasts, mash, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, yorkshire pudding (6.5syns), gravy (1syn)
Slice of my little girl's cake that was left from her birthday (10 syns)

Apple later on in evening.

Total syns: 17.5

Messed up a bit here, firstly as we had different yorkshire puddings to normal - I know 'standard' ones are about 2.5syns but turns out these were 'extra special' ones and were 6.5! Then my daughter had a lovely chocolate caterpillar cake from Asda for her birthday so we finished that off for our pudding. Again, note to self - must check syn values of EVERYTHING first. Turns out the little piece I had comes to TEN WHOLE SYNS  not a good start!

Anyway I'm hoping the gym session I had this afternoon might help a little bit! And I'll be much more careful about checking syn values in future.

I've cooked syn free chilli using the recipe on here ready for tomorrow's dinner, and I've frozen a bit to use later in the week with a jacket potato for lunch or for a quick dinner one evening when I've been to the gym or something. Need to decide on a breakfast and lunch for tomorrow, not sure whether to have weetabix and banana again tomorrow or maybe porridge with some raspberries chucked in. Lunch I was fancying a tuna sandwich but that would mean the bread would be a healthy extra which means I can't have porridge or weetabix for breakfast unless I syn it, which I don't want to do. Hmmm *ponders*

Breakfast
Raspberry and cranberry mullerlight with a chopped banana and handful of raspberries

Lunch
2 x light dairylea triangles (HEXa) on 1 slice toast (Hovis wholemeal) (HEXb) with some baked beans. Few pieces of ready cooked chicken.

Was really really craving chocolate this afternoon - had a cup of hazelnut Options to take the edge off - 1.5syns

Dinner
SW chilli I made last night with rice (I used Veetee microwave rice so 1 syn)
Chocolate butter biscuit (4.5syns)
4 mikado sticks - 2syns

Total syns = 9

Breakfast
2 weetabix and skimmed milk (HEXa and HEXb), topped with raspberries and sliced banana

Lunch
Jacket potato and beans (I brought tuna to work but really didn't fancy it!)
Readyto eat chunky BBQ chicken (Tesco) - it's a 200g pack, says half a syn per 100g, I've eaten about 3/4 of the packet and I'm full (FULL! I'm on a diet and I'm full! :D) so I'll say 1 syn for that.
Apple

Gym session this evening - I never eat dinner before I go so I had a Mullerlight (free) before I went.

Dinner
Batchelors broccoli and cheese Pasta n Sauce (Didn't have time to cook before I went to the gym, OH had pizza, grr! So just something quick before I toddle off to bed!). Made with mainly water and a little bit of milk (rest of my HE allowance), so free.
2 x Leibniz chocolate butter biscuits, 3.5syns each so 7 syns.

Total syns = 8

Breakfast
2 x weetabix, skimmed milk (HEXa and HEXb) with raspberries and banana (superfree) (I'm loving this for brekkie at the moment!)

Lunch
Chicken and sweetcorn mugshot (free) and 100g of Tesco chunky bbq chicken (LOVING this chicken!) - half a syn

Dinner
Stir fry - chicken, egg noodles and lots of superfree veg - made it with soy sauce (rather than one of the packs of stir fry sauce I normally get) so completely free!

I had a massive chocolate craving at work this afternoon and very nearly caved, but I just kept thinking of my wedding dress and how it'll all be worth it! And now I'm home and, because I've only had half a syn today, I can enjoy a nice bag of maltesers :) can't flippin WAIT lol!

Edit: I had the maltesers (9.5syns) and they were sooo worth the syns!

Total syns: 10

Thursday 16 January 2014

Grr had a stressful morning trying to get the kids out of the door on time and I forgot my lunch! I'd got my raspberries and banana all ready to go with my weetabix (loving that at the moment though I know I need to try some different breakfasts!) and I'd got a jacket potato which I was going to have with either beans or leftover SW chilli. Managed to get a banana in the cafe at work to go on my breakfast and I had a big jar of beans (that Heinz 'fridge pack') in the fridge at work. So lunch was a bit boring today lol!

Breakfast
Weetabix, skimmed milk (HEXa and HEXb) and banana

Lunch
Bowl of baked beans

Dinner
Spaghetti bolognese (extra lean mince, onion, lots of mushroom, tinned tomatoes, paprika & coriander, garlic, tomato puree) - all free
1 chocolate butter biscuit - 3.5syns

Snacks (my treat when I got home from the gym)!
Cup of tea (milk was rest of my healthy extra), 1 sugar = 1 syn
Penguin biscuit - 5.5syns

Total syns = 10

Finally made mushy pea curry today! Been very curious since I saw the recipe on here, my first reaction was YUCK! But it's actually turned out lovely and you'd never know there's mushy peas in it! Having some for lunch and then there's LOADS left so think I might give the kids some for tea tonight and freeze the rest! I'll see if OH wants some for dinner but I bet he'll say no when he hears what's in it :giggle:

Just want to remind myself what I used for when I next make it:
Tin of beans
Tin of mushy peas
Tin of chopped tomatoes
Tin of Asda chickpea dhal
1 tsp medium curry powder
Onions
Then a load of veg chucked in to make up the superfree stuff!

Right going to start entering today's food now...

Friday 17 January 2014

Breakfast
2 x weetabix and semi skimmed milk (HEXa and HEXb) (not used all milk allowance so can have a cuppa later) with raspberries

Lunch
Mushy pea curry with rice - free! I also chucked a bag of casserole veg in so I've got my superfree in there too :)

Dinner
The rest of the mushy pea curry - lol! With rice, so all free and superfree again.

I had a Malteaster bunny afterwards as my evening treat - 8 syns

Total syns = 8

Ooh a wedding! That's really something to aim for with you weight loss :) how much are you hoping to lose?

I haven't tried the mushy pea curry yet, but think I might. Probably won't tell the boyfriend what's in it though as I don't think he will approve...!

x

Yep I think that's what's keeping me going, I'm never normally so motivated :giggle: I'd like to get back to 9st 7 so I have just over a stone and a half to go. Although I'd be happy with even a stone to be honest! But going to really try for that goal weight :)

I didn't tell him what was in it, I just told him it was veg curry :giggle: he liked it but he moaned he was still hungry afterwards - he doesn't like things when there's no meat in it! So I think I'll make it again but maybe do it with chicken or something next time.

Saturday 18 January 2014 (writing this on Sunday as I didn't get chance to update on here yesterday)

Breakfast
Porridge oats and milk (HEXa and HEXb) with a few raspberries

Lunch
None - oops. Had a busy day and was out all day and didn't get chance to eat until later in the evening.

Dinner
I'll be honest I definitely didn't stay on track yesterday. We had takeaway pizza for dinner. However I stuck 100% to plan all day (pretty much all week in fact) so we'll see what happens. We do like to treat ourselves to a takeaway sometimes, it used to be every week but obviously we've had to knock that one on the head! I'm hoping we can still have it as a treat sometimes and it not affect my weight loss too much but we will see. I guess we'll call this week a trial run, I'll stay on plan 100% all week and see if I still lose on Friday. If I don't then will have to reconsider the takeaways! (Or at least accept that I won't get a loss on the weeks we have it). Anyway we had pizza (half hawaiian, half meat feast) and some chicken nugget things with dips. I've tried to find the syns for these particular things and it's sooo confusing but looking at the MASSIVE syn values for Pizza Hut etc (wow :() I think it's safe to say it was way off plan.

Edit: Meant to add, I also ate a few dairy milk mini eggs last night - was sat cosying up with my kids and couldn't resist! :break_diet:

So I think I will write yesterday off and then stick 100% to plan for the rest of this week!

Sunday 19 January 2014

(again, I am writing this on Monday as I didn't get chance yesterday!)

Breakfast
Weetabix and milk - no time for fruit, was a very rushed brekkie before running out of the door to do the food shop!

Lunch
Oops - none again. Got back from shopping and taking the kids to the park then went straight back out to the gym. Was time to cook dinner when I got home!

Dinner
Well dinner was going to be chicken roast dinner then my OH bought Pukka Pies instead! OK I said, I'll just syn them. I put them in the oven, go online and check the syns - 26.5 syns per pie!!! OMG. Luckily I'd not had any other syns all day so I just had half of the pie (so I'll say 12.5 syns) then had free stuff on my plate. I did put 2 level tsp margarine in the mash (so 2 syns, divided by 4 portions, = 0.5 syns).

So dinner was:
Half of a steak pukka pie - 12.5 syns
Mash (0.5 syn for margarine)
lots of free and superfree veg

Then 1 Celebrations chocolate (the malteser one) - 2 syns

Total syns = 15

So I'm not exactly over the moon that I went over my limit I gave myself of 10 syns per day - but at least I've not gone over 15 which is the max that SW say you can have. So I may have gone over MY limit, but not theirs - LOL. Will have less than 10 today to make up for it.
