Need Help!

Started slimming world in September 2013 and within 6 weeks had lost 1 1/2 stone!

had a couple of health problems since and my losses have become less consistent yet I managed to keep losing and found myself getting down to 14 stone 3lbs (my 2stone award).

Then xmas hit.. and I gave up smoking, since then my past 4 weigh ins have been gains and big ones! I have gone from 14.3 up to 14.9 over the past 4 weeks and have even slipped below my club 10 target :(

I have been told my loads of people that this is due to being ill again for a couple of weeks over xmas and also giving up smoking, but can this really give me gains this often and this big?

I have stuck to my slimming world food plan and it just seems like I have gone from losing 2/3lb a week on this plan to gaining 2/3lbs a week with no explanation s I have stuck to plan!

I have even upped my cardio and nothing seems to be stopping the gains, can quitting smoking really cause all this!?

any tips for halting the slide and turning it back round again!?

Hi, you're in the food diary section so are you going to post your food diary so we can have a look and advise? Sometimes writing it all down including every single mouthful helps as you may have slipped a few things in or forgot to count a couple of things. Exercise may causes you to retain water, this could be the reason so ensure you keep hydrated. Are you having your He and your syns? And your third SUPERFREE. Which plan are you doing? If you are I'll are you on medication that has weight gain as a side effect such as steroids? Has your consultant given any advice?

Sorry for for the overload in questions is just abit of a check list for you to see if there is a nothing that might have triggered it. Don't get down stick with it I'm sure it will come off

i was on steroids yes, but that was a month ago now and im still seeing gains? I have copied my fodo diary for last week here, it wouldn't let me attach! :(

Looking from your diary I'd say try and mix things up abit, as your body can get complacent and sometimes needs new food to shock into burning quicker. For example switch round your breakfasts why not try beans and omlette one day, and your lunches too try something different each day for a week if possible. I know that can be hard. Are you actually eating enough? I can't see the rest of your diary for your evenings but beans and eggs may not be enough I know that sounds weird x

I did think it was maybe due to me not having enough variety but surely that would just mean a stop in losses? not an suddenly an increase in gains?

yeah I have meat of some kind every eve with my superfree veg as a side, I literally just use the microwaveable packets of frozen mixed veg as my superfree, I was told this is fine too?

im convinced its due to me stopping smoking tho! I haven't eaten more syns I don't think but I was told nicotine increases metabolism as its a stimulant and having quit cold turkey it could be causing the gains?

Why don't you try eating more SS foods one week and see if that helps ?

Talk to you consultant, I'm pretty sure there's a free booklet on helping you when you quit smoking. I heard my consultant mention It during group, it contains ideas for snacking etc, maybe give that a try?
