What exercise does everyone do?

My weight loss journey is about to improving every aspect of my life that weight controls such as my fitness, and my appearance.

I am training for a 10k run which is on the 2nd September 2012 and the fact I have barely trained is making me feel nervous.

Tonight I run/jogged and then walked and then jogged then walked etc to my boyfriends house and it took me 16 minutes. I felt so knackered but even though it wasn't a massive distance it was the fact I reached my goal destination. And I realised for the first time in a long time I can actually do stuff I set out to do. I will soon see my improvements I will achieve when I can run to my boyfriends (which is uphill from mine) and not need to stop to catch my breath.

The race is in 17 weeks so I am going to set goals of been able to run 2.5k in 10 minutes. Today I run 2km to my boyfriends and it was 16 minutes so I think it is definitely possible to get that down to 10 minutes.

I want to get some kettlebells and I am looking into some form of boxing to get me into great shape. I am also going to start pilates but I am currently unemployed and need to weight until I can afford to pay for the classes.

My goal date is 5th December because that is my 21st Birthday.

I want to be able to exercise effortlessly and feel fantastic.

What do you all do for exercise? :D

Hi, I try to go to the gym 5-6 times a week. I do treadmill, x-trainer, rowing and cycling. I also do personal training session once a week. I try and do a spinning and kettlebell class where I can and when I don't ache lol xx

i go in the gym 3-5 times a week, tredmill, cross trainer, rowing, some weights an bike. my main one i do though is cross trainer, love that :)

when I used to go to the gym about 3 years ago I spent my entire workout on the cross trainer almost because I just loved it!! but I found the rest of the gym so boring and after the cross trainer I couldnt be bothered to do anything else.

I feel like I need things that I find exciting like dancing, boxing etc. Today I ran alone for the first time and it began to rain and i just stopped in the middle of a field and I just felt so happy for actually getting off my bum and working out!

Can I ask those who use the cross trainer, bike and rower, how long do you spend on each machine? I've got all 3 in my spare room but not sure how long and what order I should use them.

I have just re-started really so i have not got an exersize plan yet. I have just ordered the zumba fitness for wii though so i plan to do that a bit!

Im also running 5k in june, i can walk it so im not bothred about training, but next year i would like to run it :)

Having a bad week this week i think so i dont expect a loss and might have a gain (pretty sure i will!!) but back on the wagon and hope i loos a few lbs for the run which will help hha

Good luck for the 5k!! I would love to walk my race but this is like something I have told myself for ages that I would do and I am one of those people who says things and never does it and I want to prove to others that I can do this and I also want to prove to myself.

I have only started back on the diet today. I got weighed and wasn't happy with how bad I had eaten these last few weeks so I got the SW books out and I am doing it from home until I get a new job.

Hi Hannah :)

sounds like we are in the same position, except I am lagging behind a bit lol. I have been ill for the past 10 weeks and had surgery to have my tonsils removed 4 weeks ago, have recovered now and like you am wanting to get back into the exercise.

Sounds like you are doing well with managing to run/jog and walk up the hill to your boyfriends house. I am about the same, have a treadmill in my house so am trying to get on it at least every 2nd day and doing jogging/walking. I also have race for life 5k next sunday to keep me motivated.

I think you just have to switch your mind off, listen to some good tunes and enjoy the exercise. It really does make you feel great during and after it if you put the effort in you will feel like you have achieved something.

Good luck hun xx

ouch sending my sympathy over the tonsillectomy! I had mine out February 2011! WORST PAIN EVER!! It was horrendous! Ahhh Race for life, I did it about 6 years ago but walked because my friend and I were just having a laugh piggy backing each other round the course :)

I find getting back into dieting the hardest and like I need to get back into a routine but exercising really does take my mind off things.

I go to a gym but only do classes. I love Combat and Pump but also do spinning and pilates. I always used to do the machines in the gym but find them boring after discovering that I DID like classes last year (at the ripe old age of 45!!)

If you go on to a runners website like runnersworld they'll have a couch to 5k training plan which might help for your race

I'm starting couch to 5k in two weeks it's a pod cast free from the nhs site.. It aims at getting you jogging 5k in 9 weeks. Starting in two weeks as off on holiday next week so planing to start when I get back.. I do 30 mins interval training on the treadmill every other day..

Mostly I just use the Wii and play the Just Dance games. It's such good fun that it doesn't even feel like exercise, but you really work up a sweat!

I started by doing couch to 5k and it gave me the confidence to run for longer now. It is a great plan for complete beginners like myself. Have a nice holiday Sookie!

I do between 15,000-20,000 steps a day and this really has helped with losing weight and keeping fit. Once upon a time I could not do 5000 steps and my stamina levels have shown improvement as well :)

I do bootcamp 3 times a week,I run 5k twice a week and on my 'off' evenings I do a mile sprint on the treadmill followed by 20 inclined sit ups,50 lunges,50 body weight squats,30 burpees and plank for time. I'm in training for a 'spartan race' in 3 months xx

I'm also doing race for life 10k but mines on 19th May - a week tomorrow! I currently do a personal training session on Wednesday for 45 mins, then on Friday it's a 4 mile run with 2 friends from work, then sunday is my long run. Currently at 6 miles for 10k preparation, but have bulit it up to 8 1/2 miles at a time.

Hannah I started doing intervals a year ago - a combination of running and walking, then gradually extended the time I ran, until I didn't need to do the walking. To do a 10k successfully, you need to aim to be able to run over the 10k. Try doing a slow jog at a comfortable pace for one session per week to build up how far you can go, an duse another session to work at increasing your speed. Doing weights will help - squats, lunges, core exercises are really useful - your suggestion of kettle bells will be ideal. Hope this helps with your training.

If you do thirty minutes of interval training on the treadmill, havent you more or less completed c25k anyway?

I am in the middle of week eight and i am only just hitting thirty minutes of non stop (the movement from interval to straight running is just a mental thing) running.

I am loving c25k though. I hated cross country with a passion while at school, but loving this (hating the run, but love the ability to do change my body from not being able to run sixty seconds to running for thirty minutes).
