Nicola's Cuba Countdown

Hello all,

I've never been sure about doing a diary before, but I've decided everything is worth a try :) Would really appreciate all your support and any pointers you can give me as to where I might be going wrong!

I've been very slowly losing my weight so far, with lots of ups and downs, but now I have a focus and want to really get my head into it, as I've got a holiday to Las Vegas in September, and I am determined to be one of those hot women who struts around the pool in a bikini and heels without so much as second thought about their wobbly bits! :D

In order to get to that I want to be 9st7lbs, and as at today I'm 12st4lbs, having lost 11lbs since my heaviest before xmas, so 39lbs to go if my maths is right??

It feels like such a mammoth task right now, but I want to be slim once and for all, which is why I've set a target that I think is stretching but at which I'm going to feel motivated to stay at once I get there, as I'll finally not be "the fat one".... :)

So these are the targets I'm going to set myself:
* A minimum of 3 exercise sessions a week (gym, zumba, yoga or pilates)
* Use all my syns each day apart from when I need to save for a special occasion (I think I'm guilty of depriving myself then falling off the wagon)
* 1-2lb loss each week, with average weight loss per month of half a stone
* Not letting star week get the better of me!

Which will hopefully all add up to...
* 9st 7lb by 4th September 2013 *

Thank you in advance for your words of support and encouragement, I really am determined this time!!

Nicola :D

Here to follow :)

Hello Pinknails! :)

I have just added some extra motivation to my weight loss kickstart... a holiday to Ibiza in July where I will be surrounded by the beautiful people! I have to be well on my way to slimness by the time I go! :D

My finger is hovering over the button on marksandspencer.com - there's a size 12 bikini in the sale that's lovely - could hang it above the fridge?! haha!

Nicola will be taking 3 stone less luggage to Las Vegas!

Hello...I've come to subscribe! I am the same lost a few stone on diet about 4 years ago and then went up and down ever nice without ever getting to a target. Joined slimming world this time round and already lost a stone and am back to lowest again...and I refuse to go the wrong way ever again!

We can do it!!

Ps jealous of the holidays...I have nothing booked so a bikini for me would go unused!

Hello Sillysar! :) We can indeed make it to target - I finally want to be able to go to group for free if nothing else! :D x

Okay, so yesterday was a bit of a write off, after me being all motivated and writing everything above! Grrrrrr @ me :(

I started well with a gnocchi bake for brunch, but from that point onwards it descended into full-on binge mode and I ate a 100g pack of creme egg minis, a pack of cadbury's tree chocolates (left over from xmas), a chocolate pudding (the ones you put in the microwave with sauce), about a 1/4 of a pack of Tyrells Salt & Vinegar crisps (the big bag), a chocolate krispie snack thing from M&S, and some roasted edamame beans (good for you raw, terrible once roasted like peanuts!)... and felt thoroughly sick by this point so just laid on the sofa and watched a ton of tv. Then yesterday evening I had a Chinese takeaway (which was in my menu plan for the day) but instead of just getting my chow mein as planned I also ordered 1/4 crispy duck and pancakes and some salt n pepper chips - I ended up eating all the duck and about 1/3 of the chips before feeling thoroughly sick again and taking myself to bed!!!

Sooooo.... today is a new day, and as with every day, the first day of the rest of my life :) And I intend to get back on track today, so the plan is as follows (EE):

Breakfast: 2 x poached eggs on a slice of toast (half a HEB)
Gym: Going to do at least 60 mins + my 55 squats for the 30 day squat challenge!
Snack after gym: Rocky Road HiFi Light Bar (half a HEB)
Shopping: Going to park as far away from doors as possible - and shopping list already written for today to Thursday to ensure I don't buy any more treats than necessary
Lunch: Baked Potato with Beans & Cheese (HEA) + Salad
Snack: Fruit
Dinner: The Chow Mein I didn't eat from last night (8.5 Syns)

Leaving me with 6.5 Syns to play with if the chocolate monster pays a visit :D

Wish me luck!!

We do indeed!

Ended up doing about 1.45hrs in the gym in the end, and ran for 30 mins for the first time in a long time! :D Only just home after shopping etc, so jumped straight to dinner and fruit snacks instead of having lunch too... so far so good!

Update at end of day: Plan stuck to apart from swapping baked potato with beans and cheese for just a 30g portion cheddar (the stuff with Tabasco in it, comes in mini portions, yum!) as wasn't hungry enough to have a third meal.

8.5 syns and all HEs consumed :D

Today's update... Green Day

Gym - 30 mins on bike
Breakfast: Banana, HiFi bar (HEB)
Snacks: Tea with Milk (0.5 Syns) & Apple
Lunch: Homemade Egg Mayo Sandwich with extra light mayo and salad cream (HEB & 2 Syns)
Snacks: Sugarfree Jelly (0.5 Syns) & Turkish Delight from Thortons Chocs box (Any ideas how many Syns?? Not on SW website, will assume 3 for now, but thought Turkish Delight would be lower syn options from the box?)
Dinner: Simon Rimmer Chickpea & Lentil Dahl with Basmati Rice & Natural Yogurt, with half a bag of Spinach for superfree (all free)
Snacks: Sugarfree Jelly (0.5 Syns)
Supper: 3 x Babybel light (HEA) and 1 30g Tabasco Cheddar portion (HEA)

Total: 2 x HEA, 2 x HEB, 6.5 Syns

Just 60 squats for the 30 day challenge to go now! :D

Weighed myself at home this morning and am 12st 5lbs.... so looks like I'm on for a gain at WI tomorrow :( Kicking myself for that binge on Saturday now!

But going to keep on going...

Gym: 30 mins on bike
Breakfast: Raspberries, Yogurt, Banana, HiFi Bar
Snack: Apple
Lunch: Out for a friend's birthday but have pre-ordered Duck Salad... just need the willpower to resist the million dough balls that come on the side!

Subscribing to your diary as I'm pretty much in the same place with messing about so would like to see how you get on and what you're eating for ideas :) good luck! x

Hello angwass! Hope you can give me some ideas and inspiration too, I feel like I need to get over the next hump (down into the next stone barrier) and then I reckon that'll spur me on again - should have got there in January really though!!

So today's diary following on from the start above...

Snack: Tea (1/2 Syn for splash of milk)
Lunch: Duck Salad (all free except hoisin sauce, allow 3 syns?) + 5 doughballs (oops! allow 10 syns?)
Snack: Pineapple, rest of Raspberries
Dinner: Home-made Spag Bol (Syn Free) + 20g Parmesan (HEA)

After Dinner: Resisted housemate's easter eggs and actively gave away remainder of box of Celebrations to a pregnant friend - less temptation in my way! Drank no added sugar Cordial while friends ate chocolate :D (Although very honestly was only so good because knew had overindulged at lunch!)

No squats today - Day 4 of challenge is a blessed rest day :)

Summary:
1 x HEA, 1 x HEB, 13 Syns, 30 mins of gym - not bad for a day with lunch and evening social arrangements! Proud Nicola :D

This morning's weigh-in at home shows 12st 3.5lbs, so I might be lucky and get away with a maintain or small gain tonight, will be very good today to see if that helps...

Gym: Run & Bike 30 mins
Breakfast: Raspberries, banana, HiFi bar
Snack: Apple & Tangerines
Lunch: Salad (from work canteen... no packed lunch to make!)

And lots and lots of water! :)

hello, just wanted to wish you luck for WI today, :) subscribed to thread as i also am trying to lose same amount as you, also had first night out since having a baby on the weekend and my bloated tummy is suffering the consequences and my own scales show a gain.....booooo. hope today goes okay for you x

Well done so far! Ignore slip ups and move on. I envy your motivation with the exercise! Once I get into exercise mode I'll be doing 30day shred. Highly recommend it hun and you can do it free online. I have never in my years of going to the gym and working out at home come across anything that changes my body like 30 day shred!xx
