If I write it down, it happened!

Hello all,

This is the heaviest I have ever been. I hope to never say that again.

Starting SW again after losing 2 stone last year and managing to put it all back on and more in a mere blink of an eye! That's the 3rd year in a row that I've done that. I think Ive probably loss about 20 stone in dribs and drabs over the years and put on 21! I'm an emotional over eater and the past few years would test anyone. My mum died in 2012 and now my dad has terminal lung cancer. If I don't keep an eye on my eating and weight, I will be next.

So, I've never done a diary before but my goal is to use this as a tool to recognise what I am eating daily.

If I acknowledge I have a problem, but can manage to write about it. That's one step forward. Also when I manage a whole day on plan, which I will (positive affirmation!) then it will be great to be able to write about that. Recognise my success, celebrate it.

So, no time like the present. I'm an extra easy kinda girl, but might move to green as I have PKD and protein isn't great for my kidneys to process. But one step at a time!

Breakfast

Bowl of pineapple
2 eggs scrambled and ketchup (2 syns)
Chicken mug shot
Milky coffee (hex a)

Lunch

Stir fry of veg and some prawns.
Apple
2 x alpen light (hexb)

Dinner

Lamb stew from freezer (5syns for olives and feta)
Muller light

Highlight fudge 3
Highlight Hazlenut 2

SYNS: 12
How does that look? My syns are pretty low so I might make the coleslaw for dinner with salad cream rather than yoghurt?

Any feedback greatly received! I need help and support. I don't want to join a group again, I'm just not ready to be public about my weight right now.

Thanks for reading...assuming someone has that is!

One day down, 551548531548413164 to go!

OK, I managed a 100% day yesterday! How lovely it was to go to bed knowing I achieved my goal. One day at a time needs to be my motto. Yesterday wasn't difficult, today shouldn't be either. This plan isn't a chore or hardship, it just requires some thought and preparation. I think I can manage that again today :p

GREEN DAY

Breakfast:

Milky coffee (half hex a)
Pineapple and mango with ff yoghurt

Lunch

jacket sweet potato, salad and home made Mexican style coleslaw (free) Salad cream (4 syns)
Hex B 2 alpen lights
Pear

Dinner

Jacket potato and beans HP sauce (2 syns)

Highlights hotchoc 2

8/15 syns

So I have lots of hex's to have and syns, hmmmmm. Shall have a think about what I can have to make todays meals even more appealing! The thing is if I have 'nice' food like butter and cheese in the house, I cant control myself!
;)

Keeping coming here, keep writing, kepp fighting and keep believing....You can do this, despite how long the road may seem right now! :)

Goodness me, how quick it is to fall apart!

I've had three days of interviews this week and I just lost the plot by Thursday! Planning and plotting went out of the window, grabbing things on the go became the norm. Gah! Anyway that was yesterday, this is today the only day I can worry about. And on a more positive note I had my WI today - although I WI at home :) and I have lost 4lbs. Im very happy with that as I can honestly say I was only 100% on plan 2/7 days!
It makes me wonder just how brilliantly I could do if I just stick to the plan ALL THE TIME. I think it's also important to be realistic too. Life happens and sometimes you have to be flexible with that and not beat yourself up or use it as an excuse to continue the bad choices! Just because I grabbed a sandwich on the go, does not mean the whole day is ruined. With syns and hex's I can limit the damage.
So my goal of a 100% week is still my aim this week. This is day 1...again!

edit: GAH! I can't believe I've forgotten Im going to Spain on Tuesday. my dad lives there and has been recently diagnosed with lung cancer and is in hospital having chemotherapy. So that means my 100% week wont happen, but I can only try to make good choices from tues onwards.

Oh another thing I've done this week is download the SW mag to my ipad and subscribe. I'm fed up of having all the magazine laying about. I love the recipes so tend to keep the mags but not its all on my ipad, including the little world recipe book. Which I would have lost by now! I've just done a Tesco delivery for tomorrow to include all the gubbins for the Beef Bourguignon. Shall make lots in my slow cooker and freeze portions. Yum!

Green day

Breakfast:

Pineapple and muller yoghurt mandarin
cup of tea (park of hex a)

Lunch:

Butternut squash soup (200ml of light coconut milk 7 syns, this is for whole batch so will have to see how many portions I make)
Home made hummus and peppers (4.5 syns)

Dinner:

Baked potato and beans
Mango
Highlights hot choc 2 syns

Syns: 13.5/15 if I eat ALL the soup!
:7834:

No HEXb's, Id like some ryvita with my soup so might pop to shop. We shall see, it's cold and grey out there and warm and cosy in here ;)

Sunday cook up!

Ordered lots of lovely things from Tesco, including the making for a SW 'fry' up. They arrived at 8am and I was asleep, though Id ignore the buzzer as who the hell would be calling at that time on a Sunday?! DER, I chose that order time, lept out of bed when my mind kicked in and had to throw on some clothes at 1000MPH (TMI?! ;)) The man gave me the basket of goods I signed and said 'thank you; and went to close the door and the man said, "ummmm, can I have my tray back?" Oh my, not.awake.at.all!

So I've already got the slow cooker on, I'm trying the Beef Bourguignon from the little book of world recipes that came free in the latest SW mag. I've made a few changes! I added smoked bacon chopped up as I think it really adds to that savoury flavour, and added whole shallots and mushrooms. I'm planning on having it with steamed cabbage and leeks and mash sweet potato. Can't wait, its so delicious and savoury and perfect for a blah kinda winters day. Also there is lots to pit in the freezer for emergency I cant be arsed to cook kinda days!
I also ordered some Special K chewy choc bars. 1 can be a HEXb. I dont normally like having these things in the house as self control is not something I tend to have! However, they were 99p so I thought I'd try again as I dont tend to have my HEX B very often and these should be a nice treat!

I also received my A3 size whiteboard! I've put it in the kitchen and it has my weekly weight loss and goals on it. I see it every time I walk in the kitchen so hopefully it will work as a deterrent should I be looking to pick!

Extra Easy Day

Breakfast:4 x Tesco cumberland sausages (4 syns), baked beans and mushrooms. Hp Sauce (2 syns) Pear and milky coffee (hexA)

Lunch: Beef bourganion, home made 2 syns, mango, special k mint bar 4.5syns

Dinner: Same as lunch, was so good! 2syns

Snack: 2 mini light baby bels (4 syns)

HexA: Milk
HexB: Special K choc bar

Syns 14.5/15

Another day on track! That's 2 in a row. I'm here for 2 more days before I go to Spain, and then I will try my best to stick to plan. I'm only there for 4 days/5 nights so hopefully I can't do to much damage. However, visiting my dad in the hospital all on my own will be really difficult. When faced with such stressful times I tend to emotionally overeat. Add that to not knowing what I can cook or have in Spain and what nots I'm a little worried :wave_cry: :sigh:

Breakfast: Milky coffee. I don't fancy anything else right now. HEXa

Lunch: 3 Tesco lighter choices cumberland sausages (3 syns) 2 poached eggs and 1/2 a tin of plum toms and ketchup (2 syns) Cup of tea (hexa)

Snack: 1 sausage! (1syn) Special k chewy bar HEXb Tea Hexa 3 mini baby bel lights 6 syns

Dinner: I have made a plate of the meal I had yesterday as it was so nice! 2 Syns

This will change as the day proceeds!

Syns: 14/15

Hi!

Well done on your 4lb weight loss, that's fab! I'm starting a food diary myself as I'm like you, I think it will keep me motivated if I write it down - I can't hide that way!

I'm sorry about your dad, it must be a very difficult time. If you're worried about overeating while you're there, why don't you keep some notes in your purse, so when you dip in to buy a chocolate bar, you can read them and they will hopefully put you back on track! Try writing some motivational phrases, and remind yourself that you have lost 4lbs and you're heading in the right direction!

Don't worry too much about eating in Spain, because then you'll give up and go for the simple option. I know it's difficult in a foreign country to know what you can and can't have, but who can go wrong with plenty of fruit, veg, meat and fish? It's the same in every country! :D You can still have your cups of milky coffee for your HEX A, and find some wholemeal bread for your HEX B - just make sure you keep an eye on your quantities. Rice, pasta and potatoes (depending on how they're cooked and prepared) are all fine on extra easy so you have so much to choose from.

The worst thing you can do is worry about what you can and can't eat because you are already going through a difficult time and you don't need the stress of worrying about what you're eating as well! You don't need to overthink things, just stick to the things you know are low syn/free and you will be fine :)

Good luck!

Thanks Danielle :) (must say I was really chuffed to see you write a reply! someone's reading!)

You're right, I just need to take it one day at a time. I will be staying at my dads flat so at least I know I can cook whilst I'm there. That's more control. I mustn't use this as an excuse.

I'm always on the look out for other people's diaries/journeys because it keeps me motivated. We're all in this together! :D

I'm sure you'll do just fine while you're over there, but hey, even if you don't, who cares? It's not permanent, you've got a perfectly good reason if you don't stick to it, and no one is going to judge you for it. Slow and steady wins the race, that's my mantra. Everyone has times where it's just not possible to stick to a diet, it doesn't make you a bad person! But if you try and remember my advice, you should be fine :)

I look forward to hearing how you get on, but I don't envy the reason for your trip. Sending big hugs to you and wishes for a safe journey x

Hi Chicaloca :wavey:, well done on your 4 lbs loss  ! I've been reading your diary with great interest and have subd. I'm sure you'll have another fab loss this week. I love SW and lost 3.5 stones last year but gained 1 stone at the end of it . So back this year to lose some more. It's great sharing ideas with one another on here. That's why I love reading other peoples diaries and gain great inspiration and support from them. Don't know what I would do without mins :). I have a diary on here too, do pop in and say hi (link is in my signature). I hope you get to spend some quality time with your dad, sorry to hear about his illness. There is a thread on here somewhere to do with SW in Spain, what to shop for and the syns if it helps. It's great that you will be cooking so you will be in control. I hope you have a fab time there. Keep in touch :p .

Back on it!

Well, I'm back from Spain. It was so hard, such an emotional trip. I'm exhausted. Dad is doing really well, but still the prognosis isn't great. Saw lot's of family, ate lot's of yummy Spanish food. Even the food at the hospital was really good and had a WI this morning and have stayed the same. I'm actually really thrilled with this!

Plan for today is a to raid the freezer, as I don't have much in.

B: Special K chewy bar (HEXB) Tea (part of HEXA)

L: Pasta, kidney beans and Loyd Grossman sauce (7.5 syns)

D: ?

I might pop to Tesco and get some fruit in. Not feeling very motivated to eat today, I'm so tired and have the beginnings of a cold. I don't have time to get ill though as I have my last interview for a PGCE course tomorrow and I need to go to the library to prepare now. Oh what I wouldn't give to be able to go back to bed.

Totally agree with the above post, keep writing it down and coming on here. You're definately not on your own and it is one day at a time. Good luck

Well done for the weight you have already lost and sts this week, sorry to hear about your dad. My granddad has lung cancer too. xxx

Back on it, have been very slack with writing my diary and as such my eating has also been a little 'forgetful'. As soon as my life becomes a little unruly or I cant get in a routine I abandon all good intentions. I've recently bought the new Paul McKenna book on Emotional Overeating and I am going to read the first part today. I know following SW helps me but I'm willing to try anything to help me stay on track. I feel so desperate, thoughts of gastric surgery solutions have also entered my mind of late.

EE day

No breakfast as got up late!

L: 4 x Tesco sausages (4 syns) plums toms and mushrooms Coffee (Hex a)

Snack: Melon, highlights hot choc 2

D: Chicken casserole, I used a glass of white wine in the sauce (6 syns) but Ive filled the slow cooker and ITS HUGE, 6 ltrs! So that's probably going to be 1.5 syns a portion.

Syns 7.5/15
