As a general rule it's 1 syn per 20 calories, so if something is 120 cals then that would be 6 syns.

If you are a member of a group or SW online you can use the syns online calculator.

Hope that helps :)

Also if u r a member there is a sw app which is very handy for looking up syns quickly when u r out and about and I also like it cuz it keeps track if your daily syns

This only applies if there is no free food allowance so works on crisps, chocolate etc but wouldnt work on a chicken salad for example.

Stupid question but if you were stuck and couldn't find the syns is it not ok to just use the rule anyway, as you would always be overestimating rather than underestimating so wouldn't be going over syns. Is it because you would end up maybe not having enough syns? I've probably worded that really confusing but I've been curious about that for a while.

It would be better to go by the 20 cals per syn "rule", as Autumn500 says you'd be over-estimating rather than under-estimating.
