Extra Easy Long journey starts now...

So I've finally taken the plunge and joined a local slimming world club. Was a bit apprehensive at first, particularly being the only guy there but everyone was so friendly and made me feel so welcome. Due to my work pattern I can only attend every other week so thought I'd try and find some online support for when I'm struggling and this seemed like a great forum.

As you can see from my stats its definitely time for me to make a major life style change or I may not be enjoying too many more new years. Would love to be able to get on a plane by the end of 2014 and not have to ask for a seat belt extension!

Really hoping come this time next year I'll be able to say 2014 was the year that changed my life!

Hi Jonny...welcome! I've just started back after too long away... Good luck and you'll get some great support from here :)

Hi Jonny and welcome! You're in the best place for help, support, laughs and advice! Love this place!

Well that went well! :sigh: I'm back, tail firmly between legs and a stone heavier!

Really not sure where the last eight months have gone but I've got no excuses - I've only myself to blame.

No point in looking back now though, the damage is done so I can only look to the future. I'm starting a new job next month which I'm really excited about and I've got a few weeks off before I start that so I'm using the time to kick start my latest weight loss attempt.

I've done a lot more research this time around and I'm delighted at the range of tasty slimming world recipes there are to be found and I'm enjoying taking a bit of time and cooking some decent meals. Slightly concerned about what new shift pattern is going to be like as the business is open 24/7 and will involve working nights sometimes but I'll cross that bridge when it comes to it.

Started to use my gym membership this month as well, just taking it slow and steady but I'm finding it fun and actually get a bit of high when I finish a session.

I've only completed one week of the new regime but I do feel I've got a new sense of determination I've not had previously. Clearly at my weight I've got along journey ahead of me and I've got to learn when I do have a blip not to use it as an excuse to self destruct . I've got a wedding to attend next July of a close family member and I'd love to look half decent in a nice suit for the photos so I'm using that as a motivator.

You folks have got a great forum here and I should have used it more last time around but I'm here now and intend to hang around for the long haul :)

Welcome back, good luck as you start your journey. I find planning has been the key for me, I have much better losses when I take time to plan my meals. I look forward to hearing about your progress :)

Hi jonny. Fi gers crossed for you. Ive only just found this forum but it is great. I agree with the post above that planning is the key and also planning for when you dont have time to plan eg having a few standbys in the cupboard or freezer for when things are hectic. Good luck.

You could lose a lot between now and the end of the year. Still over 4 months to go. Easy a few stone there to go! Good luck (you won't need it!) :)

Hi Jonny! Just came across your thread and wondered if you've come across the WEMITTs part if the forum, which is for people with a lot to lose, regardless of what plan they're on. It's well worth a look as it's an active and supportive place, full of folks with long roads ahead of them. Good luck! :) xx

Thanks for all the kind words and sentiments :)

Hi Tracey, I've not found that part of the forum yet, still exploring at the moment, but I will definitely check it out. Thanks for the tip and congratulations on your weight loss journey - those are some impressive figures.

Oh thank you, Jonny! I got here in the end, now for maintenance!! x

Welcome back!

I'm sure you'll do well this time. :) And congratulations on the new job! :)

Just relax and take it one step at a time. You'll get there in the end.

Are you going to do a food diary or anything to keep yourself motivated? I'll happily pop along if you do x

Cheers. I'm not doing a food diary yet but it is something I might do in the future.

Hello! Here to wish u luck on your journey just saw your post on the xmas weight loss thread 2lb is good, better than staying the same like I did last week lol! This forum is great to chat & take your mind off food I find lol! Except everyone getting mad at me with my head in my phone opps

Best of luck Jonny, you can do this, believe in yourself. I was nearly 17 stone 10 pounds when I started and when I joined SW, I was 15 stone 12.5 pounds and now down to 15 stone 5 pound in two weeks.

Take each week as it comes, don't think of the long term target, set yourself smaller targets and work towards them.
