Completely heartbroken

Hi all I'm new to this, I did sw 2 years ago and lost 3 stone in 17 weeks.
Then got epilepsy then got caught pregnant and ended up putting 3 stone back on.
Went back to sw last week so had my first weigh in tonight felt really good on the way to group knowing I had a fantastic week.
Stood on the scales and I have stayed the same, it felt like the earth had fallen on top of me.
Last time I was losing 4-5lb a week so I'm completely devastated and feel like I want to give up (which I won't) has anyone had the same problem.
A girl I was talking to tonight was saying she didn't understand the plan very well and still managed 4 1/2 lbs.
the only thing I can see I've done differently is ive had a total of 6 syns for the week.
Someone please give me some kinda idea where I could be going wrong or help me.
Thankyou

I don't think you need be heartbroken about it hun, its just one week and sometime we don't get the results we are looking for. There's always another week so just stick with it. Did your consultant not look at your food diary for you? And why did you only have 6 syns? Have at least 5 a day if not the full 10-15 hun xx

I think it's because my mind thinks that it's really bad and I'm failing if I need syns. Didn't get chance to stay tonight so my consultant will give me a call tomorrow.
It hasn't helped because I did so well and lost so much so quickly last time it's a little disappointing now.
I've eaten loads of vegetables, fruits and free foods etc but my friends at the group don't think I've eaten enough.

I'm sorry you've had a bit of a disheartening time of it, and I hope it won't dissuade you from giving it another week of 100% - you'll probably find you get a good weight loss next week. Sometimes the scales can be 'off' because of water we're retaining, or something we've eaten earlier in the day or if we're constipated (sorry!). I know it sucks, but those same scales might well have showed a loss the night before, or after - our weight can fluctuate entire pounds in the space of a day. So don't be too down, mrs... try to stay on plan, and we'll keep our fingers crossed you get the weight loss you deserve next week. Hopefully your consultant can go through your diary with you and see if there's anything she can suggest to help you xx

I did SW in 2009, moved areas and couldn't find a group I liked until I decided to give it a go again in September last year. A lot has changed since the first time I did it and I find I need to look up a lot of things even now 4 months in... I double check everything because what might have been 'free' back then might not be now. Recipes change, things that didn't have syns now do etc.

Did you keep a food diary for the week?
Is AF due?
Are you using you HeX-A and B's?
You need to use your syns... they aren't bad just limited!
Are you eating 1/3rd superfree each meal?
Are you drinking enough water?

Ignore other peoples losses for now... we all have different results and to compare is only going to drive you crazy. Hopefully there is a reason behind the STS and your consultant can work it out with you... or you'll see a great loss next week and the scales were being sneaky!

Stick at it, keep a food diary this week and see what next week brings x

You really do need to have your syns, they are there for you to use, so use them :) Enjoy them and feel good about your weight loss. There is nothing worse than feeling like you're depriving yourself, if you want a wee treat, like say a curly wurly, then have it, its 6 syns. You could have one every day and still lose weight :) We had a new member, who like yourself, really restricted her syns in her first week, and actually had a small gain, she followed our consultants advice, had her syns every day and the following week lost 3lbs :) Please dont be heartbroken, that only brings you down even more. You can do this, have your free and super free food, your healthy extras and best of all, your syns xx

I too stayed the same in my first week even though I'd been 100%...I lost 4lbs in my second week though so don't lose heart, stick with it! As others have said, use your syns!!

I think the thing that first baffled me about sw is why or how you would still have milk, cheese, bread and cereals, and then syns on top of that and still lose weight?! I know they say it's for fibre and calcium but the logic behind eating such food and still losing weight took a while for me to get my head around but you've got to remember that sw is a carefully calculated diet, every component is necessary not just for good health but for the weight loss too! So make sure you get your healthy extras and your syns even if it's feels like you shouldn't be eating them. I am sure next week will tell a different tale at weigh in! Keep us updated and don't be disheartened :) xx

Thanks everyone. I've actually stood on my scales this morning and I'm 4lb lighter than last night when I stood on them. So I have no idea what's going on with my body. The last time I did sw it just seemed to come off so well. Like I said I lost that amount in 17 weeks. I know that averages 2.1/2 each week but I let myself have weeks where I knew I was going out and I accepted I wouldn't lose that week, but when I was good I knew how to lose 5lb a week etc... Thankyou for all your support I will update you all next Thursday :)

A word of warning - most people weigh less in the morning than they do in the evening; I know I do. I don't want to disheartened you, but you should only compare like with like for (reasonably) accurate results. If you know what you weighed on your scales in the morning 7 days ago and can compare this morning's weight with that, then OK, go ahead. In addition, your scales may not be calibrated to the same as those at group. The only weigh in which counts is the official group one; this is why sneaky peeks are discouraged (and yes, I'm a guilty peeker). As people have already said, our weight fluctuates across the week and during in the day, depending on what we've just eaten, drunk or what our hormones are doing which is why a weigh-in may not accurately reflect the amount of fat lost.

Stick with the plan - you will lose weight, but perhaps not at the rate you'd like. I stuck to plan the first week and gained, but I persevered and won in the end.

Good luck.

I will, without doubt, weigh at least 2lb less in a morning than the night before, sometimes more, even if I've (how can I put this politely) not expelled any waste in the toilet room! I used to be obsessed with the scales, when I eventually realised that the obsession was making me more obsessed and cut down to weighing twice a week at most (I sometimes can't contain my curiosity) I found it much more rewarding and I've curbed the obsession to jump on the scales every morning and sometimes in between too. I think the thing is to trust slimming world, stick with it and then when it comes to a weekly weigh in you may be nicely surprised! Xx

on my second week i stayed the same, but just carried on and when i was weighed last week i had lost 2 1/2 so try not to be disheartened and keep going as it will probably show on the scales next week xx
