hi i am starting sw today on my own at home i am 10st 10lb looking to lose 11lb how many syns should i be eating please and can you save them up ?

Hi janiemac

Do you have any of the books for SW? It is possible to do it on your own, but really I think you need the books to get your head around the plan. I saw on your other thread that you did WW, and it takes a bit of getting used to the SW way after doing WW.

Each day you have 15 syns. They don't advise saving them, but some people do "weekly syns" and just work off having 105 a week. I've never tried that though.

Extra Easy is the plan most people do, so if you're doing that on top of your syns you get:

1 Healthy Extra "A" - a dairy choice, which you have to measure out
1 Healthy Extra "B" - a cereal/grain/bread choice, again you have to measure

Your meals should be made up of 1/3 Superfree food - most fruit and veg comes under this. The point is that you fill up on these foods.
The rest of your meal can be Free foods (lean meat, pastas, potatoes, fish, beans etc), and your syns if you want to use them on things like sauce, oil etc

To get an idea of what is free, superfree, health extra etc, the book is your best bet. Even after 6 months I regularly look stuff up.

cheers coughdrops and happy holidays books are now ordered from ebay but got a shot of a friends even more confused now surely everone would eat extra easy all the time as you dont have any weighing i made rissotto last night and had 2 plates as all is free apparently so fingers crossed

I guess one of the important principles of slimming world is that though they are free foods it is important still to exercise some self control and to recognise when we are full rather than eating past that! Easier said than done when you hear the word free if you are anything like me! Having the third super free with every meal is really important too as it limits the amount of free you have as you fill up on super free!

I am sure you will do really well :)

I did EE for ages, but get better results on Red days as they're more restrictive on the ol' carbs.

Just be careful with things like risotto- on EE you need to make sure a third of that serving is superfree, like lemonandlime was saying. And if you have a second helping, THAT has to be a third superfree too.

Sometimes I think I want a second plate of something, but then realise I am too full to eat another big portion of Superfree

I was 10.10 at the beginning of January and now 9.9
I do mostly green days with the odd ee or red day.

I have up to five syns a day and the rest at weekends.
