Please post your food diary so we can have a look and give you feedback. You may not have necessarily done anything wrong at all. Sometimes this can happen on the first week and you may have a better loss next week. The other thing is if you have moved from one diet to another or if it's the week of your period, which can affect weigh in.

There are quite a few meals that are either very unsubstantial or lack any superfree? That's my observation. Your body could have gone into starvation mode particularly if SW is a big change to how you ate before. How do you manage on just a muller or just fruit for lunch? Also your syns seem pretty low overall. How many do you average?

I was told I was diabetic and put on medication this week which caused me to lose my appetite, that's why I only had fruit.

That's a bummer but it may still explain the slow loss. As you get into the groove of managing your diabetes and work out what you can and can't eat it will pick up. I have seen other threads on here about doing SW in conjunction with a variety of conditions that affect good intake. It would be worth doing a search and seeing how other people manage their diabetes and manage to lose weight. :)

I wonder if you should be eating more, though I appreciate you lost your appetite, if you don't eat enough your body retains water so you won't see the loss. Try more free snacks to keep going. Mugshots are quick and easy and fill a hole. Also although your syns are low, it's often bread which might not help.
Are you getting any support to learn how to manage your diabetes?

I see the diabetes nurse in 2 weeks as she off sick. I know I need to eat more so have got more fruit so I can snack on that. I have a small piece of bread pf a night so my blood sugars don't drop too low during the night.

Would maybe a banana be better than bread at night? I don't know much about diabetes but I do understand that bananas can be good for blood glucose levels?

If you can't get advice from the nurse for a while, have a look at the Diabetes UK website, where there is lots of useful information. They recommend a book called Carbs and Cals, which you can get from them or from Amazon (cheaper there, I think) which is an idiot's picture-book guide to carbohydrates and is very good - I am finding it very useful.

That website is Diabetes UK. It is the one which your doctor will probably recommend. I have also found another website Diabetes UK, UK Diabetes Resource, Diabetes Symptoms, Diabetes Diet, Gestational Diabetes which takes a rather different view of things. I am not going to recommend it as such, but I did find the different viewpoints are always interesting.

I have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, but have not been put on any medication yet. I have been told I might have to take Metformin, but do not like what I have been reading about the side effects, so I am hoping to avoid it if at all possible. So I am doing my best to look at this whole carbohydrate thing - which means looking at food in a totally different way - and hoping to get things under control that way.

If the medication is making you feel really bad, don't wait to see the nurse but go and talk to your GP.

Hi I tried to reply to this thread on my phone but it lost my post

I agree that more superfree and more syns need to be added to your diet. Not necessarily just increasing fruit, as the site Anna has directed you to suggests a balanced diet of fruit, veg, protein etc. Remember that although syns can be used for wine, chocolates, crisps etc, they can also be used in other ways and you could enjoy an extra slice of bread or some cheese with a meal, that type of thing. I think you are going to have to be guided by your nurse when she is back from her leave. Good luck with everything and don't worry about a quick loss, slow and steady wins the race :D
