Hey fellow slimmers, so I joined slimming work two weeks ago, lost 4.5lb in week one. Got my second weigh in tonight, got a strong feeling that iv either maintained or gained. I am not happy with loosing 1 or 2lbs a week. Can anyone make any suggestions. Please im desperate.

Looking at your stats, 1 or 2lbs a week is a good loss as you don't have a lot to lose. You have to think of it in terms that SW helps you lose safely by eating a healthy balanced diet, whereas some of the diets that help you lose more per week are extreme, often not good for your body and don't constitute a balanced diet.

First of all, you don't know what you have lost this week, despite your strong feeling, so wait and see what the SW scales say.

Secondly, most people lose a lot in the first week and then settle down to 1-2 lbs a week, which SW (and other experts) says is a healthy rate at which to lose. It is sensible and sustainable - this is a plan for life, not a quick fix.

If you aren't going to be happy with this, then I don't really know what to suggest. Most people would be delighted with a steady 2 lb loss a week - this would be 8 lbs in four weeks, over a stone in two months, There are over 40 weeks till Christmas, that's 80 lbs, that's nearly 6 stone!

2lbs a week is the top end for a healthy weight loss each week, 1-2 is completely normal, and as Anna said, it adds up quickly. Sometimes when I'm convinced I've gained the scales surprise me with a nice little loss, don't panic till you know for sure, and then if you do gain, look back at what you've eaten and try and figure out why - a lot of people have a much smaller loss or even a maintain their second week, it's just your body settling in to change.

2lbs a week will be over a stone by your goal date, try not to worry too much.

Why do you think you have gained? If you have followed it all week I'm sure you'll get a nice surprise at WI, and even if not you'll see it next week if you stick with it. 1-2lbs a week is a good loss, but you might find that some weeks you lose more and others less, but it all evens out in the long term, Good luck!

Like all the previous posters have said, you can only expect to lose 1-2lbs on SW. Those little pounds add up quickly though - even 1lb a week makes over 3 stone in a year! The rate of loss is quite slow but you will never go hungry and can eat masses of free and superfree food.

On Weight Watchers/Rosemary Conley etc you will lose a similar amount. If you're really desperate to lose weight very quickly your only alternative is to do a VLCD ( very low calorie diet) like Cambridge/Lipotrim/Lighter Life. However these are incredibly harsh regimes to follow - you live entirely off shakes and only take in around 600 cals a day. You will see results though. I know I couldn't do one of these - I love my food too much!
