Ahoy there!

Hi there! This is my first post on minimins, although I've been using this site to pick up tips ever since I joined slimming world a couple of months ago... cheeky :p. I've gotten to a point where I'd really like some support. My weight loss is not going great (although slowly but surely is better than not at all). I'm currently doing my Masters in Chemistry and going through PhD applications, which is so stressful, and I'm currently seeing neurologists about health problems too, so my time is limited, my stress is high and I'm finding it hard. So as scary as it is I thought I'd put a little bit of myself out there, in the hope that, maybe it'll help.

I look forward to getting to know you all! :D

Im sure coming on here will help immensely it has for me :) sounds like you have a lot going on are you going to a group or doing it from home? What plan are you following? Goodluck on your journey :)

Hi Fiona. I've only been on here since January & I find it really helpful. It's like having support & ideas 24/7.
Don't be afraid to ask questions that you want answers/ help with.

Hi tamkat! Thanks! Seems like you've done very well so far, congrats :) I'm doing Slimming World, go the groups once a week. Got one tonight actually, not happy because I know I've put on, and I only just got my 1/2 stone :( what about you?

Hi LisaIris, that's what I'm really hoping for! I have a great boyfriend and everything, but it's not the same because he's always been his ideal weight! Thank you very much :) and well done for your 1.5lb off today! :)

Im not at a group I prefer freedom to mix things up a bit with ee green days & calorie counting ,keeps me from getting bored & it seems to be working.I weigh at home on wed morns so if I do have bit of a tough weekend I can get back on track.I really struggled when I weighed on a Monday. How do you know you have put on? x

I stepped on the scales myself this morning haha. The medication I'm on cause weight gain, so I have to battle against that as well. Absolute nightmare!

That sounds really good, you've done well so it must be working! :) when people mention at my group that they are mixing and matching their diets, the consultants have a mini breakdown haha (only been there a few weeks and had more than one). x

haha I can imagine they do its not everyones cup of tea but from doing rosemary conley before calorie counting is hard to get out my mind.Such a shame about the medication,I was on meds few years ago & put on 4 stone in a few months but needed to take them broke my heart because id taken 18 months to get that 4 stone off :( oh well keep trying that's all we can do I guess :) x

You are going to weight different this evening to what you did this morning & your scales could be totally different to the SW ones. If you have put on, do you know why? That's half the battle if you asked me, if you know why then you know how to change it next week :)

Hi guys, turns out you were right LisaIris, I'm a pound lighter according to the SW scales, wooo half stone! It only took about 10 weeks. I should just throw mine out, they're awful anyway :) x

Tamkat, the doctors say after 6 weeks, the body should be used to the tablets, so I'm hoping to just keep maintaining or losing little bits, but they keep putting the dosage up, so it's taking longer! Grrr! Hopefully this whole pound loss is a sign :) x

Siggy74, thanks for luck! I actually have a PhD interview tomorrow so I need it ;) x

Well done and good luck in your interview. What wil the Phd be in?

Thank you very much! Chemical Nanoscience, although I'm also tempted for a bit of computational chemistry, but they're aren't many out there :(

Wow amazing. My son did his Msc in precision engineering and is now starting a Phd. I hope it goes really well for you tomorrow. you just need to get yourself through the door and started. I hope you will post tomorrow so I know how you get on. Thinking of you.

Hello, welcome to the forum. The support on here is fab and has really helped get me through weeks where I have a wobble. I was 22st 8lbs at my heaviest. Started SW at 21st 8lb and am now at 20st 3lb since 7 jean including a week in hosp (unplanned emergency) and the 2 weeks off after too.

i do love SW. Just follow it and try and eat super free foods with SS next to them or S that also boost slimming.

good luck x

Thats good news a pound off well done :) Keep positive maintaining is better than gaining while your body gets used to the meds so good for you x

Ahoy-hoy!!

Hope the interview went well - let us know how you got on. Applying for PhDs is very stressful - completing and submitting them is even worse!! But it is a great thing to do!!

Good luck, with everything!!

Hi there MrsTinaV! Thanks for the welcome :) I can't wait to get to around that weight - that's my club ten, and I've heard wonderful things haha. I do eat a lot of free and whatnot, but I find it hard to get the recommended third superfree. How do you usually incorporate yours in? xx

Thanks tamkat, v well done on your 2 pound loss ;) xx

Haha violetshrinks, thanks for the glimpse into the future there! Is that from experience....?

My interview today was unusual. I saw the labs, which was amazing, fancy equipment and whatnot, which was fun to have a look at, and I got to chat with a bunch of people about sciency stuff which I love :D. BUT there's loads of competition for this one PhD, and it's unusual because he has the funding, but not a project. So he's challenging the people who he thinks are up to it, to write him a proposal. Which would be so that he can kind of see how much background knowledge we have, how original we are etc. The person with the best proposal and whatnot wins I guess. So, there's one more super hard, super time consuming, super stressful thing to add to the list I guess...

Hope you all have had good days, and thank you everyone who wished me look for today! :D xx

hello Fiona. That sounds really exciting. Good luck
