Fighting hard and losing the battle!

Hi everyone,

I have been following the SW EE plan now on and off for the last 18 months / 2 years and have managed to lose 3st 9lb so far which I'm really pleased with - there have been a few ups and downs along the way resulting a couple of gains. However I have stuck to the plan religously for the last couple of months and managed to get back to my lowest weight since being on the plan (20st 1lb) but now I'm stuck! No matter how hard I try I can not seem to get any lower. I've tried more exercise, more veggies, fewer syns, different SW recipes, the whole shebang!!! No matter how hard I try I can't seem to get past this weight. Anyone got any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

Maybe post a typical days diary so we can have a look. What is your portion size like? Have you thought of switching your days up with some red/green?

Hiya :)
Well done on your loss so far!
it sounds like you've already tried most of the usual suggestions- only things I can think of are: give an example of a food diary to see if there's anything anyone can spot, try the other plans- mix up a few red and green days, look at portion sizes and watch your fluid intake.
Have you ever tried success express, or the ones where you have soup for lunch every day or more fish? I don't know if they are a bit faddy but the soup one worked for me!
Hope this helps
Rosie x

Hi and thanks for your replies.

I haven't tried mixing up EE with the red and green days - not sure i could get my head round this!? I do have set meal plans though to keep me focused and to avoid those naughties from sneaking into my shopping basket.

I keep a food diary so have listed the last few days below;

Tbsp ketchup
Chicken pasta salad no mayo
Roast pork no fat or crackling, roast potatoes & parsnips (cooked in frylight), mixed veg.

Tescos carrot cake slice

Tuesday;

Toast (2 x slices from 400g wholemeal loaf)
1 tbsp reduced sugar marmelade

SW chips
Baked beans

Hope this helps?

To me it doesn't look too bad? Seems like your well within your syns. I'm really stumped for you! I'm experiencing something similar myself.
My clothes are hanging off me but the scales show no weight loss?? Very disheartening ! Stay stong your doing great x

Without knowing the exact combination of food you eat its hard to tell but id say your superfree was generally under the 1/3? Could you maybe up it? Does it truly reflect 1/3 of every meal?

Yes from a glance I would agree with LicktheLid, it does look like your superfree could benefit from being increased. Fruit is great but if superfree is not on the same plate as the rest of the food, it doesn't naturally limit how much you eat of the free foods (which are slightly higher in calories). I find that if I write down exactly what veggies are going into my meals, it helps to remind me to have as many as possible, and I like to think of as many kinds that go with each dish as possible. Can be expensive but it's so important.
If you do think you're having 1/3 superfree already, you could try to increase it further for a week and see what happens (Success Express, or a more moderate version).

Also, I don't see your HexA in all of the days. You need to make sure you get enough calcium as it binds to the fat or something to help you lose.

Remember lots of water too!

Otherwise, well done for your great loss so far and for sticking to it when it gets tougher. Lots of people have plateaux at different weights along the way and it might take mixing things up to get it moving. It can be because your body hasn't adapted fully yet, because your portion sizes are still at the size that satisfied you when you were a bit bigger, or other mysterious reasons that science hasn't yet explained fully. Personally I also find hormones are crucial - I have irregular periods and sometimes my body goes crazy for a couple of months before I finally get a decent loss. But you're eating healthily, you're developing new mindsets, and yo will get there eventually!

Oh and I just wanted to add, it looks like you don't eat fish very much, just meat. Fish is very good for giving you healthy minerals and so on, and it is lower in calories than meat usually. Some people do get good results with a 'fishy week' as someone mentioned above. I'm pescetarian so don't eat meat but I do find I get good losses on weeks with a lot of fish.

Do you attend group? Maybe sit in on the new member talk to refresh your memory... the longer we are on SW the more complacent we become and think we *know* the plan. SW is changing all the time... Healthy Extras change, recopies change and low syn things have higher syns - for example, your Alpen Lights... are they the new tastier ones as the recipe has recently changed and the new ones are no longer classed as healthy extra B's.

Have you tried a paper diary? I find the weeks I do a paper diary and keep it on me are the weeks I have a good loss. Paper diary's are set out to make you focus on the superfree.

I would agree with the super free comments - remember potatoes, parsnips, peas, corn dont count as superfree. The last days diary only had banana and grapes as superfree all day.

I find I lose better when I eat fish - luckily I love it!!

Thanks for all your replies.

Will try upping my superfree and see if it helps. Not sure I could do more fish - I'm really not a fish lover.

Will also have a look into my hex a and hex b mix to ensure I get both.

Didn't know about the alpen bars. I have the apple and sultana ones.

I don't attend group - I'm going it alone.

Hi, well done on your success so far!

Have you tried drinking more water?

When you're dehydrated, your metabolism slows down and your body holds onto excess fat stores. You'd also be more likely to over-eat as you mistake thirst for hunger.

Can't hurt to try :)

Help!!!
I fell off the wagon! Infact I ate the wagon! I'm so ashamed!
I'd done so well!!!! X

Take a deep breath! It's okay we all have these days!

What's important is that you stop! so you don't down the path of destruction.
The beauty of SW is that it's a lifetime plan so you can restart today.

Draw a line under it (lots of people have struggled this weekend)

Now focus on today and what you're going to have. Don't fret about the past or the future. Today is the most important day so take today nice and easy, cook/eat all your favourite foods. Keep going like this each day and you'll be back on track straight away.

I have no words of wisdom, I just wanted to tell you I can't stop giggling at 'I ate the wagon' lol.

Sorry x

I'm happy to say I'm back on it! Lots of excersize and eating clean! I'm not too far away from target. I just need to get my ass in gear.
The one thing I'm finding is the expense of all the fresh produce I'm finding I'm going shopping every other day! Also does anyone know an alternative to fry light as it's always out of stock when I go looking for it x
